DIY Remote Exhaust Valves - Ferrari & Maserati
Very nice video.. .thanks!
Nice upgrade! It looked very smart and shiny when the kids were admiring it. I imagine the Porsche is quite torquey to drive in comparison to the RR. What size Diesel engine is it?
@@maseraticc2834 it’s the 3.0 diesel, it’s amazed me the difference between this and the range, gear change keeps you constantly in the torque curve so it pulls like a petrol and the way it handles is like a car half its size. Brilliant bit of kit 🙂
Nice find with the relay! Had to laugh when you said the window motor replacement wasn't shown because of all the swearing : )
Great job DG, love your content and your presentation, 10/10! This is also particularly pertinent for me as the drivers door window on my 328 is slooooooow going up and down too. Where are you based, and would you possibly be interested in doing the same job for my car please (depending on where you are of course..)?
@@maseraticc2834 thanks 🙏 it’s roughly the same job as I’ve done my own 328 too 👍🏻 I’m Midlands based (Leicestershire) always happy to advise but have to be a little careful on workload as unfortunately my health isn’t what it used to be
Good job Gentleman I remember when I did exactly the same thing . Did you drill the bottom of the doors to allow the water to get out ?
@@gillesgouin2345 thanks 🙂 fortunately the doors had already been done at some point
Also, the retiring of the radio, aerial etc would be amazing.
As always, many thanks. It would have been good to see the window work after you refurbished the motor.
@@Yapoo-j8j I shall definitely add a clip on another video 👍🏻
Great video DG! You have a very calm and relaxed approach to your work and presentation which makes for a ver enjoyable watch. Please keep posting!
Great video thank you for posting. I am looking forward to enjoying this story as it unfolds. Will you be replacing the shocks and springs while you deal with the suspension, seeing that they have been in the car for almost 45 years since 1980?
Shocks were in good condition so just a strip down and refinish, no need to send them for recondition this time. Springs pretty much the same, powdercoat and back on 🙂
really boring and a cheap video = try watching M539 restorations ! that is a GREAT CHANNEL !
Hi! Awesome job! I start buil/restore a v12 engine like that... but i dont have the manual to repair it.... Can you share the tightening torque from crankshat, con rods and heads!? All the best! Cheers!
Cant remember off the top of my head, but i would always recommend getting hold of the manual. Easiest way to get a copy would be from the 330 registry (330gt.com) its where i got one of my digital copies from for free a while back 👍
“Clips “ are called copiglia bindings .In the U.K. the Alfa shop sells the kit .A lot of these cars end up with tie wraps or jubilee clips .It’s all about the detail .
Absolutely these are a ‘work of art’, so it’s great to see her refreshed.
How many miles did the engine have?
You are supposed to tack weld the outer part of bush to the A arm .Otherwise the thing spins and no rubber flamboc effect is given out by the bush .
You're right, I think I can see the tack welds at 8.37 on the new bushes
Nice work ! That Ansa exhaust is looking clean !
Wow, a substantial improvement to the front seats!😊
That's a big improvement, I can only guess what he charges...?
Definitely a big improvement, and fairly reasonable on cost, just over £200 for both seats, so not too bad
Confidence brother confidence! You are doing some great DIY work it is interesting to watch! Have faith in what you are saying in front of the camera, your voice overs are excellent you just seem slightly timid doing the live talking! It's coming together nicely keep it up!
Thank you 🙏 really appreciate the feedback, I think im still getting used to the talking to the camera 😅
@@thedrunkengoth9180 I tried doing the sort of videos you are without my own success. I read somewhere to give 110% of your normal self in front of a camera as it never comes across the same as a normal conversation!
Great job. Had no idea the backbox was originally black. Thanks for the crackle tutorial too! I think i'll try that
Nice work again, really starting to come together now : )
The wrinkle paint came out well; looks good in the video. Brilliant that it probably looks the same from a paint shop vs driveway sprayed.
Good job, looking fresh!
Seems like challenge of a Ferrari is in owning them, rather than working on them. Gives me confidence to see you wrenching on them as easily as any other, and maybe I can find all of my future 308 GT4’s known issues and fix them as soon as I buy it and make it a reasonably reliable daily driver? Thanks for the videos.
At the end of the day they are still just a car like any other, i guess im a little bias as i have grown up working on them. When the day comes and you have your future GT4 i should hopefully be here to help if needed. As a daily driver you should have no issues, they really are brilliantly reliable and fun cars, so long as you keep on top of the general maintenance
why is the music so LOUD
@@surfbug1 early in my video editing experience 🤦♂️ I’ve learned since then 👍🏻
@@thedrunkengoth9180 its ok I just wanna see ur content, glad ya fixed the issue!
Slow or non-op electric windows are a flaw from the factory. The grease they used quickly hardens and needs to be removed and replaced. Once that’s done I bet the windows will work speedily and the motors will prove to be fine.
@@bryandbaker something I’m far too familiar with sorting on the older girls 😅
Did the euro spec GT4s have catalytic converters by ‘80? Great project. Will be my next one. Just got started on a 67 Mercury Cougar. Will be following your build avidly.
@@bryandbaker thanks 🙏 no, I think it was only US spec that got cats, wasn’t until 348 or late Mondial we got them here if memory serves
I wouldn’t want to risk losing those pieces in the plating vats either. Still enjoying this series! Thanks for continuing to share the progress.
Nice work. Good decision to get rid of that fuel cap lock, it looked really ugly to my eyes!
hello sir are you free
Do y'all have the corn juice (ethanol) in the fuel in the UK? We do and its hell on the Cohline fuel lines and rubber parts
We do, but we get a choice of percentage at the pump. Some of us have access to the purer stuff though too *shhh* lol
I was thinking "Why have they used left-hand threads on all the fuel filter bolts?" then I realised that bit of video is mirrored haha! Lots of useful info again, thanks.
My old fairlady next to it bro
Nice work! I'm learning a lot watching these videos. Still going to wear gloves when I'm welding though haha! Lewis obviously knows what he's doing as he did a quality job.
Has this video been reversed, I thought the cam belts were on the right hand side of the car.
Oops, front facing phone camera has reversed it 🤦♂️
@@thedrunkengoth9180 no big deal, but it looked a bit strange with you rotating nuts clockwise in order to undo them.
The cam covers look excellent now! All the hours of brushing were time well spent. It’s always neat to see body repair work done properly. Rust gone and should be headache free for a future caretaker and enthusiast knowing that the visible rust was entirely eliminated.
Looking forward t the next vid on how to get the old bushings out and the new bushings in . Doing the same work on my 400i now. Great vid!
ahh, so you the joys of the self levelling system too. Gonna be a couple of other videos out before the next one showing the bushes coming out, but happy to advise if you need any help 👍
@@thedrunkengoth9180 That I do! The self leveling is working for now. I will keep watching. Thanks!
Still loving this series! Great stuff. Interesting trick on the 4th nut for the carbs. Yes, learned through amateur wrenching on small things to keep several of the extendable magnets 🧲 around…great suggestion! Love hearing your pro thoughts as u work through her. Found myself remembering that I need to change belts on a 2 valve Ducati Monster. Cheers and thanks for another great watch! 🍻
Enjoying the series! I would have spent three hours with a magnet chasing carb nuts. 😆
Great video. Can you please advise which Ferrari is the most reliable and less costly maintenance wise: 360, 430 or California? Thanks
I’d probably steer you toward a 430, less costly on maintenance than a 360 as it’s on timing chain rather than belts, and more reliable as more developed than a 360 and less electronic than a California. A good 430 is definitely the way to go 👍🏻
@@thedrunkengoth9180 thanks for the feedback 👌
Love this project. Will be neat to see u restore it to classiche level and can understand with a car at this price range if it makes more sense to get close.
Can’t wait to follow ur restoration of this old girl! I’ve always liked these, and they are under appreciated on my side of the pond. The OEM wheels look great. Will be neat seeing u tidy the motor/engine bay in addition to the metal work and paint needed. Will this be a keeper or do u plan to pass her on? Instrument cluster is classically cool. 😎 Great project and fun to see something that’s not high dollar restored properly.
They really are a great car i have always had a soft spot for them. Havent decided fully yet on whether she will be a keeper, i enjoy the process so much it may be wiser for me to find something else that needs work once this ones done
😊 'PromoSM'
Nice chair! U pay more for a quality product, and it was packaged and shipped properly. Excellent. Bummer to hear the arm rests were slightly off. Hopefully, u will find a way to reinforce them although a shame u have to mess with it for 500 or more quid. Still super cool design!
Looking good bro you got it on the road yet ? 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love hearing ur perspective given ur experience maintaining etc. Thanks and Cheers!🍻
Love hearing ur perspective given ur experience maintaining etc.
Great video. I would have guessed u install new pistons and seals first as to not risk marring the paint during the refurbishment; however, I guess this method prevents getting paint in the crevices of the new components, seals etc. Neat stuff!
Cool history and following where they are now. I’d be proud of those restorations! Love them.
Thanks for that 👍
