Welp, I strained my hamstring on a jump, I felt something during my squats this week, I guess this strained it. Doesn't seem to be a high grade strain tho, but it might take some time until I can do max intent jumps again. I didn't have time to jump my highest this session, but it felt way easier than any of my previous sessions there.

@@silasgaertner6296 hmm have you tried different stance? Like less wide/more wide. You may find one stance to be less impactful on your gracilis. Also try with something under your heels to elevate them

That's insane. I'm 5'6" and a 360 is my best on eight feet. I'm not fast enough to do eastbays or behind the backs or under both. How did you get so good?
@@silasgaertner6296 doing reps as a kid, every pro dunker will tell you that they dunked everyday as a kid, I can 360 on 8'0" since I was like 13y-o. You can watch my older videos. I was doing trick dunks on a dollar store small hoop before I could dunk on a 7'6" (which was the lowest reel hoop I could find in my city) Actually in my oldest dunking video on youtube, I was about that age I was doing the beginner dunk level and not too far from intermediate. But after that I grew up (not just in height) and became much better

@@SlashyDunk thats good, I can almost hit my head on it, I dunked 10' two weeks ago. I was about your age when I touched 10' but I was a bit shorter. You got plenty of time if you stay consistent you'll be dunking 10' too thats for sure and you'll grow a few inches taller too so its going to be easy

Oh yea thanks, and you can have a look at my other videos I got some training videos. I mainly do squats, deadlifts, plyos and have a jumping day every week.

Sadly I strained my left quadricep on my first jumps warming up, I feel like I could've dunked this session seeing how high I've jumped on my first attempts, but I'll be dunking soon for sure 💯

Why not go lower? You should at least go down to competition depth. But even better, go as deep as your quads, ankles, and hips will let you without rounding your back. Good job on the vertical jump though.
I try to go to parallel, it was a little better in previous videos, I thought I had it but I was maybe 1 inch away from it. A quarter squat translates more to vertical jump, but is worst on the knees and same goes for lowest squat possible, those are tough for the knee meniscus. So to stay in better health I go the powerlifting way, which is parallel. I have terrible ankle dorsiflexion, lets say my toes are at the wall, my knee can barely touch the wall without my heel coming up. Also, as it can be seen a little in that video, going a bit lower than that would introduce butt wink. But ye I'll get more volume and get a bit lower next times, I have a history of hamstring tendonitis and thats also bugs me mentally 😅 Thanks mate for the constructive comment 🙏🏻
@@pierre2324 Well I can't argue with the results. I'm the same height as you and can't even touch the rim, haha. But yea, squat depth is a tricky thing. It's different for everyone because there are so many variables including flexibility, injuries, height, proportions, goals, etc.
