The Quarantine Choir returns to sing about local lockdown in their home town of Leicester. Francesca (soprano) and Chris (tenor) are now living in Birmingham, so we have constructed this video using two separate performances of a half a psalm each. Roxanne (alto) and John (bass) remain in lockdown, and are really missing their old housemates! It's never quite the same as a live performance, but...

i hae been looking for the lyrics for a long time,at last i have found them, though i sem to recall an extra verse mentioning 3 streams coming flowing from the knight, toward the stone, one of . blood, another milk and one of water,

This is really beautiful and enunciation is so clear. The pianist observes the 'harp-like' sound on the piano which Gerald Moore did not with Janet Baker. The single drawback here is that the tempo is slower than it should be and I hope that Summerfield and Jarvis re-record it soon. Possibly the venue reverberation at St Anne's had something to do with this but with fairly elementary acoustic screening (rather than twiddling knobs on a mixer) these musicians are bang on for timeless masterpiece.

Vaughan Williams cut out the most important verse of them all. "And they did eat which was a sin".. by what right does he have to cut out our ancestor's words!!!!!!!!! or the words of the Bible..oh, too true, Vaughan??????????????? Stop messing with the medieval, you DON'T UNDERSTAND IT

Thanks for giving me a different take on the musical text. I've probably sung it too often, thoughtlessly, as a standard. I liked the almost staccato punch you gave it, in certain measures.

I hate to be negative, but this is a fine performance somewhat degraded by the recorder gain being turned up too high and/or the mike being too close. Digital distortion is horrible. Another video shows quite a quality microphone; or is it the camera audio? Digital recording generally allows you to capture a low signal then boost it with gain or the normalise function afterwards. Well sung though.

A lockdown performance that's still worth watching after lockdown... There's so much to enjoy here, in the dignified, understated way of psalms, e.g. the change to a major chant from verse 8. If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing well. Thumbs-up!
