Best Bold Chex Mix

INGREDIENTS
▢ ¾ cup unsalted butter
▢ 2 tablespoons garlic powder
▢ 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
▢ 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (optional)
▢ 2½ teaspoons celery salt
▢ 2 teaspoons onion powder
▢ 2 teaspoons hot sauce (Frank's Red Hot, Mexican-style, or similar)
▢ ½ to ¾ teaspoon cayenne
▢ ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
▢.3 cups pretzel sticks (or other small pretzels)
▢ 3 cups Chex Wheat cereal (or Shreddies Original or similar)
▢ 3 cups cheese crackers
▢ 3 cups Cheerios Original cereal (or similar)
▢ 2 cups roasted, unsalted peanuts
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat: Add ¾ cup unsalted butter to 1 large roasting pan (ideally 12 x 16 x 3-inches). Put pan in oven. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). (The butter will melt as the oven warms).
2. Mix spices: Once the butter is melted, add 2 tablespoons garlic powder, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (if using), 2½ teaspoons celery salt, 2 teaspoons onion powder, 2 teaspoons hot sauce, ½ to ¾ teaspoon cayenne, and ½ teaspoon smoked paprika. Use a rubber spatula to mix until a thick paste forms.
3. Add the rest: Scatter 3 cups pretzel sticks, 3 cups Chex Wheat cereal , 3 cups cheese crackers, 3 cups Cheerios Original cereal, and 2 cups roasted, unsalted peanuts into the pan. Stir extremely well, making sure the spices are evenly distributed.
4. Bake: Bake for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, stirring every 20 minutes, until mixture feels dry. Remove from oven. Let mixture cool in the pan, stirring occasionally to cool evenly. Once completely cool, transfer to airtight containers or resealable plastic bags. Store at room temperature.

Ever try toasted sugar simple syrup??
As in toasted granulated sugar? Yes, I've tried it:) I actually love doing that for chocolate chip cookies. But as a simple syrup - for at home cocktails - I find the flavor too subtle to justify the extra steps of making it and taking up fridge space. If you used a lot of it in a recipe, you might notice the flavor a bit more (than just a splash in a cocktail). But it wouldn't be as pronounced as a brown sugar simple syrup. That said, I'm sure there's a lot of great applications. Let me know if you've tried it!

You didn't say what temperature and how long.
How long does it keep for?
A long time! Honey itself keeps pretty much indefinitely. We've always eaten through the jar in a couple months, but it should be able to keep for longer. The only thing is if the container gets contaminated (say with food crumbs from a butter knife, etc.)...then it could cause it to spoil faster. If your honey ever ferments or molds you should toss it, but that'll be quite obvious (and tbh has never happened to me).

I did this and it ended up tasting like baked potatoes in a plastic-y shell. If you want crispy potatoes, you need to cook them (can be done in the microwave) prior to air frying.
