Thanks for playing! To answer a couple of your questions: -My artist collaborator Alan joined late in the process, a little after early access started. We've been working on a complete visual overhaul since 2023, so Marv, Noel and Lewis still have placeholder sprites. It's taken awhile as it's all hand-drawn. Lewis will be next to get this update. Take a peek at gameplay from 2022 if you wanna get a sense of what we've been doing in the last couple years. It's really night and day. Online lobbies were also something that were implemented after the Early Access release. They've been around for awhile, though this month's patch makes them more functional (such as by allowing matchmaking while playing other modes). -We do have plans to expand the roster with at least ~3 new characters, more if we can swing it. We're likely to start including them on a limited/testing basis sometime later this year/early next year

Thank you for playing my game. I really appreciate it. I’m glad you liked the visuals and the general presentation. The features of the engine allowed me to experiment a lot. Regarding the story, I agree that I wasn’t clear enough about what was happening, especially concerning the antagonist. I aimed for a more subtle and indirect approach with the storytelling, but unfortunately, the result was what you experienced. For a general idea, I suggest checking the comment section of my game’s page in the “Submissions” section of the game jam. I left an explanation of what I was trying to convey with the story. However, some things might be outdated due to a recent build I released. After receiving feedback about the story (similar to your criticism), I released a story update (BUILD 1.02) that changed and added scenes to clarify how the antagonist operates. I’m still waiting for feedback on this build, but theoretically, it should provide a less underwhelming experience. I can’t guarantee satisfaction if you’re expecting a continuation. I agree that the story of “Just Open It Already” would have been more satisfying if it were longer, but as you correctly guessed, I was limited by the game jam deadline. So, I had to come up with a story of a certain length during the concept phase of development. Not to say I would have preferred the opposite, though. I prefer to work on shorter projects, to be honest. This is something that my third project might end up falling into because its ending, unfortunately. Despite that, I’m surprised by how long it ended up being in the final result. I would also like to clarify that anything related to the UI has nothing to do with the narrative, except for the “Call in Progress” and “Period of Time not Found” screens. These elements follow a “show, don’t tell” approach to storytelling. I thought they worked well as transitions between different scenes, so I relied on them instead of narrating what was happening. All the rest was aesthetic for the sake of it. Thank you again for playing the game and providing useful feedback. If you get the chance to try version 1.02, let me know what you think about the changes and if they improve the narrative.
