My brother's excuse is he and wife decided to NOT have kids and travel and since I have a child, elder caregiving should be primary in my life. I'm also a single mom on a single income. I've taken eldercare on but my Mom has cancer and Alzheimers and it has been emotionally and financially draining. I have to front $$ for all her medical and house bills and worked 10% time for 6 months this year. This past week my brother's wife got pissed because I reached out to remind them both of my Mom's final cancer scan and follow up diagnosis appointment dates, which I asked my brother to help with to *ensure* that both of them are there for mom this time. Brother previously said he'd take her and my mom has to stay with them overnight. Wife says that text "woke her up," I shouldn't be involving her, and I don't respect their schedules. Well SHE keeps their schedule so wtf am I supposed to do??? I've given up on them and wife in particular - shes a selfish B. She also refused to drive my brother to my parents house 90 mins away when my father died. I had to drive 90 minutes in their direction, pick him up, and by the time my brother and I arrived 3 hours later Dad was being loaded on the truck. The whole neighborhood was at the house like, "Where the F have you both been for hours and hours?? Your Mom is in tears." All because my sister in law doesn't like to be around sick people.

In order to feel guilty, one must first take responsibility for their actions. << Alcoholics are incapable of this! They drink because they inherited the disease from their parents, or something at work drives them to it, or something at home stressed them out, or the day of the week ends in the letter Y. And they "tried" to get sober "for you" and they failed because YOU didn't support them enough. It's NEVER their fault! Because "G" in CAGE is invalid, this "test" is BS!

Bad title. Should have had dementia in the title. I’m looking for heal with slowly degrading lungs of my father. He’s quite there mentally but cannot take care of himself without us actually living there (which we talked about and agree would not work for our family/kids/pets). Not saying this isn’t important. Just that the title should change 😊

Yes, many experts and physicians peer to peer writings not only suggest aging is a disease but have it documented that aging and the ailments that come along with it is in fact a disease/disorder. They also say that it can be reversed.

At your age, I am sure you are already suffering from ageism, because you are a woman. Therefore, you need to hide your grey hair when a man doesn't. If you are single or become single at your age, you will have a much harder time to find a mate and remarry, than a man would. Men interested in you will be older or much older, when a man can turn around and marry a younger, or much younger woman. All of this shit that women have to go through, affects our mental health.

I could not handle life without the Lord Jesus Christ. I am almost 70 and life has gone by so fast. Cannot believe I’m at this age now. I really messed up a lot in life. I feel bad about that, but I know that God forgives me when I repent. But life is really sad.

Here’s a question, is it a forgone conclusion you’re morally obligated to be a caregiver (or at least a heavily involved one) for an aging parent, and do their own savings and your own (but mostly theirs) enough to fund a nursing home, assuming it’s well vetted?
