I remember playing this with the Swindon Youth Brass Band under Francis Cowley back in he 1970s great selection.

I wish I had a recording of our late B.Master Charles Dove of Stapleford playing this solo. I heard him many times but sadly no recordings!! He was the best!!

I could spend my entire life in worship listening to traditional hymn tunes. Many modern songs are worthy of note but I don’t think any will stand the test of time in the way many of the traditional hymns have, written as they are with their different part harmonies. Modern songs are not written to be sung in the way that traditional hymns were and nowadays they are often ‘performed’ as if the people need to be entertained.
