People used to think the WNBA was trash. Because the WNBA was trash. Every year rookies come in that are popular, every year they crush those rookies. They get them out of the league. Most of them are nowhere near as good as Caitlin, but some of them are good. They treat them poorly. Attack them. The one thing they've never done and isn't discussed enough. They never defend them the way they defended. Caitlin. They did their best to prevent her from looking good on the court. She's still broke. Tons of records. If they treated her like everyone else she would have crushed their records . I hope that everyone associated with the WNBA that works at ESPN either gets fired or they keep them away from WNBA commentary. They aren't fair and their expertise is in something nobody cares about.

Pistol Pete set the all time D1 record before any of the WNBA players were in college. None of them broke that record until CC. If she was getting the fair whistle her numbers this year would be even higher. Playing round all rugby is never going to be popular.

Stephen A said society was wrong to not watch the WNBA before Clark's arrival. Society was not wrong. In the early years, the WNBA had a lot of viewership, but that eventually fell off because, for the most part, they play a brand of basketball that is boring. Also, the "physical" play with hacking and grabbing looks to be covering for a lack of skill which is a turn off to most sports fans. Clark is just exciting to watch and brought a lot of college fans to the WNBA.

These women on the panel, Chiney, Molly, Andrea are insufferable with Molly being the worst. They sound disingenuous about what Caitlin Clark was able to accomplish on and off the court. What they also fail to recognize or comprehend is that Stephen A's point that what the public wants is all that matters, falls on their deaf ears. The hypocrisy of the WNBA about being inclusive and welcoming is a joke. The CC effect is real as well as Caitlinecomonics. It will be interesting to see where the viewership ratings go from here. I doubt they will break the game 2 Fever/Sun ratings.

This is the first year I watched the WNBA and enjoyed it. I TRIED to watch it years ago. After the 3rd air ball in as many minutes with zero baskets made and a bunch of bad shots, I turned it off. There may have been a few good Players, but it wasn’t a good League. It is now a good League with many good players. Maybe it’s been that way for awhile but this is the first year I am back to watch. And you nailed it. CC has “it” factor. Some people are just exciting to watch. MJ, Venus Williams, CC. (No not even Tiger Woods could make me watch golf😂) Even with her turnovers, you see the vision, the attempt and you cheer for it even as you groan at the missed execution. It’s fun to watch the team develop their chemistry.

I may be the exception to most fans; but the NBA and NFL I don’t approve to high scoring games because I feel defense and that resistance is key and shows who’s average and who’s elite. For the WNBA; I embrace the defense and old ways because I want that resistance for the players to showcase how “elite” the talent claim to be. Edit: and I’ve been watching sports since being a kid in the 90’s and it sickens me that the major sports like NFL and NBA just disregard defense or other positions. The WNBA is the same way in the 90’s and I was interested because I never seen women play then and now CC kept my eye longer

What Chiney fails to acknowledge is that the product itself is still very lacking. There are on average probably 10 to 15 missed layups or open looks under the basket missed every game. Fundamentally the skill level is very mediocre for all but the top level players. Thats not even mentioning double dribbles and travelling is rampant and uncalled. They need CC way more than she needs them.

I didn't know there was a WNBA before Clark came along and now that I know what they are I know I didn't miss anything.

The NBA and the NFL learned a long time ago that high scoring games increase the fan base and revenue. When you watch the WNBA they allow a lot of violence which slows the game down and reduces scoring. They need to clean it up and speed it up if they want to be successful but old guard don't want to change because they can't play fast ball. The owners, coach's and ref's need to start calling all these hard fouls with reduce scoring and slows the game down.
