Blue Engine Records is proud to announce To Whom I Love, the scintillating debut release from rising star trumpeter and SNL band member Summer Camargo. To Whom I Love is an album-length love letter, with each song dedicated to a different person who’s played a significant role in Camargo’s life. The album not only features her highly talented band but also special guest Joey DeFrancesco, the late, legendary organist who redefined his instrument. DeFrancesco’s two songs on the album constitute his last recorded output before he passed away in August of 2022. Camargo is a 22-year-old phenomenon from Fort Lauderdale with a multi-faceted jazz and classical background. Before she came to New York to study at Juilliard, she competed and won high plaudits on the Jazz at Lincoln Center stage at the Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition and Festival. Now, she’s releasing her very first record with Jazz at Lincoln Center’s in-house record label, coming full circle on the first phase of a promising career.

Happy Fourth of July!! 🇺🇸 I’m praising the Lord that I live in a country where I can pursue my passion and worship Jesus Christ! Today, I’m celebrating all of the good that has come from America and honoring the veterans that have sacrificed their lives, so this country can be free and independent! As a jazz musician, I’m proud that jazz originated in the United States, and I’m so incredibly th...

That just killed. Summer, you can seriously blow. Looking forward to hearing you live sometime.
summer! you are such a big inspiration in my musical career. you went to the school i go to(not gonna name its ofc) but i would LOVE to play jazz. i play the trombone but you are such an inspiration
唇のしなやかさが伝わってきます。魅力的な音!
What a mouthpiece you're using?
Bach 3C!
Absolutely amazing young talent
Great vibes!

First time I heard ur sound I was hooked. Like an old catfish on treble hooks. Nice girl nice.
Beautiful playing all around. Louis! Joey?
Nice!
no more harry james. you have your own sound now. indisputably.
God this song is so good but, that shouldn't be shocking considering it is coming from someone as inspirational as you, Summer. Since I first saw you in Ellington I have followed you as an inspirational figure in jazz. As a student who hopes to be at Ellington some year considering my school has made it most years (we don't talk about last year) I look to you as a guiding figure of what a young musician should try to achieve. Anyway you are an amazing musician and I hope I could see you play live one day as I sadly missed you at Dizzy's by a day.
Hola Prima! It is a joy listening to you playing the trumpet, it sounds really pretty. I wonder, have you heard of Maité Hontelé? How do you feel about playing salsa music? ua-cam.com/video/a5Mj5A8FABc/v-deo.html
Clean and swinging...just first rate.
That was cool 👌
A legend before our very eyes 👏🏽
wow! like no other word for it. summer, we never met, and i hope i don't come off like a creepy stalker, but been following your musical endeavor since essentially ellington. your sound was more accomplished in high school than most veterans could ever hope for. this is next level. idk what level that is other than "next". miles davis was not easily impressed, but i knew him well enough to say you'd definitely have his attention. just stay clean.
Summer put this ensemble together???? I am IMPRESSED!
Oh man playing I Remember Clifford for that long with no breaks would be incredibly tough on the chops! Amazing!
Amazing. It makes me feel joy to see people my age creating real music.
could feel the love and joy in the glorious, velvety swirls of heartfelt harmony and descant delight...........what a lovely tribute of affection, beautifully traditional, and wall-crumblingly creative!!! enormously enjoyed!!!🎺🎷👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Beautiful
Such a thrill to hear and enjoy a young musician with such a high skill level. And what original ideas on your Cherokee solo. As Lawrence Welk used to say, "Wunderful, Wunderful. Wunderful! ( I think he also spelled it with a "u")
3:37 you can blow your horn very well
wow!! What a Soulful performance 🤩🤩🤩 you should perform at Sessions live
Move over Herb Alpert, here comes Summer Camargo!
I remember watching you in play in 8th grade, and you were great, but now your even greater, which I thought was impossible. I know she makes it look easy, but the amount of work it takes to be this good is unbelievable.
This was truly amazing. Great Composition
Did you transcribe these yourself (besides the excerpts)
Excellent! Just subscribed 'cause I want to hear more and follow your progress! Thank you for sharing this!
Lovely playing Summer, particularly enjoyed I remember Clifford.
Beautiful! 🎶🎶👏👏👏👏
Sounds great! What mic did you use for this?
Big band jazz is alive and well! Aside from the higher fidelity (this ain't 1940 technology at work), I couldn't tell this was just recorded let alone composed this decade. Very classic Harry James (?) inspired sound, and yet it's not the same old same. I'm waiting for the album.
Summer, this is stellar! Kudos to both you and the band for a fantastic tune and performance. Very moving stuff.
WOW incredible! BLUE NOTE RECORD SIGN HER UP RIGHT NOW🎺🎺🎺
Awesome! I’m your fan! Your playing is so beautiful!
If you live in Fort Lauderdale we should do do a collab together. I live in Melbourne
Please post more!!! Digging the Lee Morgan vibe!
Sounds great!!! Seems more like a 2nd trumpet based on solo chops vs lead chops
Ur rly good
She is Truly Blessed and is going to be one of the Best of all time! Awesome tone and performance Summer!!! BRAVO :)
Thank you so much!!! :)
She plays great but the rhythm section is so solid.
By far one of the best Grammy / Next Gen Jazz players I've ever come across while watching audition videos. Amazing playing, Summer!
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! This really means a lot to me!! :)
Impressive!
Congratulations Summer on your award tonight!
Thank you! :)
Good job
I teach and collect trumpet on the gulf coast of MS Ret. USAF great job!! but consider a lil less air thru the horn,(Clifford) make it come from down deep and try a GR flugel MP or size 12 Giardinelli. What kind of flugel are you using? Most kids in school and college i teach are using too big a mouthpiece also. You could easily use a size 12 or so maybe 10.5 or the best a Legends Brass in about a .610 to 620 cup and your high note worries will be over! He has mostly med to shallow cups. Best out, check out Sammy Ceballos on youtube vids promoting Legends. Rick
Thank you so much! I worked really hard on those pieces! I'm using a flugelhorn from my school, and it's a Conn. I'm using a Bach 3c flugelhorn mouthpiece. Thank you so much for the advice! :)
Absolutely beautiful!
I know this tone from miles away. Amazing. Truly. 👏🏼
