Ranking the Skill Trees - Outward Definitive Edition
Переглядів 829Місяць тому
Hello All, Outward Definitive Edition has 11 skill trees. While each skill tree is great and can be combined with two other skill trees to make great builds, I wanted to rank the skill trees based on their versatility and the power that the individual tier 2 and tier 3 skills provide. This ranking is based off of my opinion of the skill trees, and it may differ from yours. Xaliter Chapters: 00:...

    Good video! Just to add to the discussion and mention what other considerations that might be helpful to newer players: - *Enabling your cornerstone to function* : Have a strategy to safely attack the enemy, to do this I have personally found it necessary to have at least one of the following: reach advantage, high attack speed, high impact damage or high defensive stats. Sometimes your cornerstone is a particular weapon which is slow, has a reach disadvantage, and has low impact damage. This means that you wanna supplement it with defensive equipment and a defensive faction choice, OR get skills/equipment to boost impact damage/attack speed, OR if it's a one-handed weapon you could pick a high impact off-hand such as a chakram or shield, OR add skills such as mana push or runic trap to the build. On the other hand, if your cornerstone is good at safely attacking the enemy, then you can invest more into damage bonuses, cooldown reduction and utility (weather defense, stamina/mana cost reduction, movement speed). This means that you have a win condition other than just dodge rolling at the correct time and being "lucky" (not retaliated on when in an attack animation). You can also move the opposite way and start at the point of wanting high movement speed and cost reduction at which point you pick a weapon which is suited for safely attacking the enemy to complement it. - *Infusion* : If you use a melee weapon then I also recommend getting one of the following: Ethereal (Soroborean Faction), Lightning (Holy Mission Faction), Decay (Blue Chamber Faction), Attack Speed & Impact Damage (Cabal Hermit Skilltree), Fire/Frost (Kazite Spellblade Skilltree).

    beginners shouldnt be using powerful builds or following guides. they should be experimenting and failing so that they can learn in order to make their next character more competent with the knowledge they gained/the items they stashed in legacy chests.

      I agree with you on exploring and experimenting. Too many gamers complain games are "lacking" and "too easy", yet look up the best builds and how to find/beat everything in the game. There is little to no "pioneering" in the gaming world these days. It's all copy pasta. Outward is 100% a game to explore, but experimenting is very pricy in IRL time and in game gold. Trying out things is fun but it can take hours to get all the gear and hold required for skills. Without save file manipulation, this alone can kill the "want" to experiment. Outward is also a game with a hard learning curve and little to no hand holding, so naturally people are going to look stuff up or quit when they first start playing. For me, the most fun in the game is making and experimenting with builds, but I wouldn't really know what's out there to experiment with if I didn't look stuff up. Outward is in a hard spot of looking up too much can ruin it while looking up nothing at all will definitely make the game feel smaller and not as fun as it truly is.

      I tried 20 hours about 2 years ago and couldn’t handle how clunky the game felt. However, I’ve just come back to it yesterday with a more open mind and it’s not really as clunky as I once thought. I’m pacing myself and working mainly on combat mechanics and preparing food before fights. Bandages in pockets at all times when I drop that bag. These are some great tips to get started. Looking forward to playing much more.

    I hope for Outward 2 that we keep most of this, but I want a definitive summoner skill tree, not just the Cabal Hermits Skeleton :/ It always feels like a waste to grab it vs going Spellblade. In my perfect world I'd have Rune Sage - Philosopher and slap anything else on that would fit (Praying for summons), sadly most of the time its spellblade. (Though I cant complain since I basically get a free projectile spell with my conjured sword.) I typically go Spellblade, Philosopher and Rune Sage. I typically stick as a caster, but when push comes to shove, I can get into melee. Its a blast when playing the increased Multiplayer limit mod.

    Awesome to see people getting into Outward!! Is such a good game!! My variation to this build is Spell Blade/Rune Sage/Hex Mage for the juicy 30% extra elemental damage that goes very well with the Ethereal runic blade and if you use Runic Prefix even better!! Combined with Mist/Sacred/Rage/Discipline can easily tear down any enemy. I use the Boozu backpack and the full Gold-Lich armor set!

    I'm trying to make a build focusing on the primal ritualist, what sinergyes do you recomend? Also, how early on the game I'll be able to get to use the primal ritualist skills?

    • @XaliterCh.
      @XaliterCh. Місяць тому

      I personally like to use primal ritualist with melee builds, so I think warrior monk would be a good choice. Cabal hermit is almost always a good choice. There are others that I have heard work well, but I haven’t tried, such as the hex mage. You can get the primal ritualist as soon as you get to caldera, so you’ll need travel rations to get to the Enmerkar forest first and then more travel rations to get to caldera. I believe the primal ritualist skill tree costs over 2000 silver to buy the full tree. Probably closer to around 2850 silver total.

    • @XaliterCh.
      @XaliterCh. Місяць тому

      I think it depends on whether you want to focus on melee or pistol/magic. For melee focus, I’d use the infuse wind unless you plan on heavily using other imbues. Sigil of wind allows you to have access to a decent amount of lightning magic damage, some ethereal magic damage, and can be combined with the pistol for a lightning pistol shot.

    What is the point of all those physical dmg increases if you run a raw damage enchantment?

    • @XaliterCh.
      @XaliterCh. Місяць тому

      You still benefit from the physical damage bonus even though the base physical damage gets cut in half from poltergeist. Depending on the physical resistance of the enemy, poltergeist deals more damage, but you can always go for whiplash instead

    • @PeterRudesindus
      @PeterRudesindus Місяць тому

      @@XaliterCh. Sorry, I am trying to make a good physical build too, that is why I am so frustrated. To me it seems like pure physical dmg is just inferior and the way to go is poltergeist, defense and stagger. Or go for a bow build with lots of cooldown reduction.

    • @XaliterCh.
      @XaliterCh. Місяць тому

      Ya that sounds like it would work. I think going for raw damage in addition to physical can still be considered pure physical since it isn’t using elemental damage. The down side of pure physical builds is that physical resistance is the most common type of enemy defense. However a benefit for boosting physical damage is that most weapons primarily deal physical damage, so they benefit more from physical damage bonus. And if you want to go for a pure physical build for role playing purposes, then I think it is definitely worth it even if the build is inferior in some cases

    • @PeterRudesindus
      @PeterRudesindus Місяць тому

      @@XaliterCh. Pure physical also just requires you to do much more. Constant rage and discipline buff just to use your attacks + food and weapon buffs. You are also a slave to stamina and have to buff for that too in case of a long fight and you can not really avoid getting damaged which means you get health burn... So very heavy defense + pure normal attacks and hex-mage breakthrough perk is what I am going to try next.

    • @XaliterCh.
      @XaliterCh. Місяць тому

There’s much easier ways to get to millions in a few minutes, or you know: take hours and hours to farm “the right way” (according to devs who don’t respect your time).

    7:11 I’m never using Sigil of Ice if it wants my Cold Stone. Hands off my ice cream. In other news, pyromancer pretty much demands this skill tree. The 3rd tier passive and the breakthrough are hard to ignore, not to mention the tier one pyro skills if you didn’t already take them at the start.

    This would be better if they didn’t nerf bleed and didn’t charge so much durability. I like archer builds and the bleed effect, especially the extreme bleed effect - but it was nerfed and there are better options imo. I still haven’t found a way to really aim other than locking on, is there a free fire zoom/1st person perspective for the ranger attacks? IIRC there was a tooltip that said you could zoom and aim with a bow. I just can’t seem to do it😂

      There’s no 1st person perspective that I am aware of, but there is a free aim available in the 3rd person view. I don’t really use bows, but I think you can get into the free fire mode if you hold the left mouse button, but I’d have to be fact checked on that one

    I’m about halfway through this playlist and a build idea is finally coming together. I almost scrapped my playthrough by accidentally spending my first point without knowing what happened, and a lot of content creators don’t explain what these builds offer on a basic level like you do, so tyvm. Really helped

    This is right out of AD&D thief class. Minus the lockpicking and pickpocketing, but otherwise it’s like they really recreated old schools rogues.

    So it’s a drummer boy build. The skill for recovering your resources seems pretty strong tbh

    Very informative, I like that you pretty much cover every aspect of the skill tree. Your playlist was worth saving, this game is a lot more complex than most RPGs because the weapons and skill trees combine in different ways, and they don’t explain in game you only have 3 breakthrough points per game. Now I’m debating whether or not to start over (I just started maybe 8 hours in at most), because I took the Kazmanite (whatever it’s called) breakthrough point from the start not knowing what was going on - and NO NPC said a thing about it. So weird to trick players that way.

    Not bad build but better would be shaman than the primal ritualist because wind ifusion gives more att. speed and also you get boost to the tsar spears stability dmg, also enemies would be faster on the ground and if you would use the flash onslaught instead of counter attack to put the confusion debuff on the emeny.

    Any chance you can showcase modded classes too?
