    Hello. In the final position (a kind of upward dog), is it necessary to contract the glutes and legs, or just the legs? Or does it leave the lumbar very relaxed? Thank you very much!

    I decided to try hindu squats because I realized I had arthritis in my knee. You'd think I would have caught on when the locked state for my knee makes my leg look like a gazelle leg. I realized that doing squats pretty much pulls the knee cap back where it needs to be. Trying normal squats its usually painful, but doing it on my tip toes feels great, I figured out why. I don't have nearly any upward motion in my left ankle, doing the tip toes method in not having to bend my ankle up. My body is in shambles and I feel like I'm tying it all back together lol. 23 and I have arthritis and carpel tunnel in most of my joints because of having been overweight for so long. The only thing that makes any of it feel better is strengthening said areas, I have carpel tunnel in my wrists so bad that my hands used to completely lock up, became devoted to grip strengtheners to fight it. I still have the carpel tunnel but my hand doesn't lock up nearly as often anymore. Now I just gotta do enough squats that my knee's default state is forward instead of nearly snapping my leg in half.

    His Legs are too wide apart and placed closer towards palms. One don't need to do this exercise with too high elevated waist. Legs can be max 12-15 inches apart and feet may be 6 inches further from his current position. Although Overall demo is good. There can be a difficult variation where in the first part of cycle which end at the time when he is looking towards the ceiling he should try to come back to the initial position not directly but with additional step wherein he has to put his face again closest to the floor and without any body part or chest touching the floor he has to go back to initial position with waist high up just by straightening elbows and strength of his waist. This second part need tremendous inner core strength.

    I have a question. I've been doing hindu squats for a while now (heels off the ground) and it's all great, but I see that in this video that you say you can do them flat footed if you want to. If you do them flat footed, then what's the difference between this and a normal squat?

    • @hrishikeshparab1236
      @hrishikeshparab1236 7 років тому

      the difference is the movement of the hands...the way you swing them back and forward

    • @ashishbhatt3467
      @ashishbhatt3467 4 роки тому

      Extra help with hand motion help you get further down and extend the motion to entire body. Apart from being good lower body workout it is a good warm up excercise too.

    • @shns3623
      @shns3623 3 роки тому

      @@hrishikeshparab1236 yeah thats one difference but not the Main difference. With Hindu pushup, you should keep your back straight AND as VERTICAL as possible! If you do Hindu pushup with flatfoot, you wont be able to let your back stay vertical- either you'll round your lower back or you'll not go down enough. So unless you are those rare few with extraordinary at the ankle and hips, just do it the normal way ( with heels off the ground)

  • @mikaellundqvist
    @mikaellundqvist 8 років тому

    You should breathe in when going to upward facing dog because it's easier to fill your lungs when your body is relatively straight, Breathing is actually a central part of this exercise.

    I started hindu squats and within a month was doing 500-1000 everyday. I developed pain in hip flexors,knees etc. I gave them up. 2 years later I started doing hindu squats again this time I allowed time for my body to catch up to my ego.My ego wanted to do 1000 every day but i resisted and for first couple months just did 50 every other day. now 6 months later I'm doing between 500-800 every other day. Hips and knees very strong. Problem with hindu squats is people rush up to the high numbers too soon without conditioning the knees, hips,etc first. Start slowly its not a race.

      +One Love Hindu squats mainly sets of 50 through out the whole night ( I work 12 hour nightshifts) . Sometimes i miss the odd week or two and do lots of low rep weight work. I enjoy going from high endurance one week to strength building the next. I weigh about 16 stone.

      You just described a problem with strength training and conditioning in general. Ego lifting, poor recovery, etc. people need to learn to ease into things. Push yourself and stimulate a response from your body but don’t destroy it.
