The whole thing was completely useless. I will explain: the intelligence the Russians intercepted could be bad information leaked to them on purpose via this officer at a hotel known (by the Germans) to be bugged. The Russians aren't stupid, and so they'll know this is a possibility, which means they can't rely on this info. So what this means is, both the Russians and the Germans have wasted HUGE amounts of money setting this up and getting this guy a holiday in SE Asia, and then listening in on him. Neither party has any useful information because it might not be reliable. How about using a military officer to do MILITARY THINGS for once? Get in the airbase and start commanding some planes. And cut off funding for these "trade" fantasists. Waste of money.

This story looks like some coverup BS. The Australian route is a clue. Looks like it was planned as "enemy fire" or even just "friendly fire" as it was so close to the frontline (maybe even was the frontline).

Narration doesn't seem well informed. RBZ was first envisioned as Marine Corps "raider receiver" but as you can imagine, stage - managed directions to your combat troops, equipped with receiving sets only, does not work out well in the real world. Consider it a failure for this purpose. Hundreds of stored useless RBZ were modified to tune 5 to 13 MHz and supplied to Resistance in German occupied Europe for listening to voice broadcast news and messages - no telegraph reception ( CW ) possible. I have Emerson literature and manuals for both RBZ models.
