The Most Important Piece of Equipment for Golf
92 days ago, I've had both knees replaced.
Great instruction. Really explains how to do each exercise. Can’t wait for part 2
Thanks! Part 2 coming Monday morning!
Great demonstration and explanation of the most efficient sequence. I began implementing these concepts a year and a half ago, and I not only hit the best shots of my life now, but my joints don't get sore anymore. This is the exact lesson that every golfer needs on day 1 of learning the swing. Start with this, then all the arm and wrist motions can be learned and integrated into this sequence very easily. Great job.
Thanks! Definitely a great building block that every golfer would benefit from understanding. Happy to hear your soreness has ceased and your shots soar!
How is deadlifting going to help back pain when that is literally compressing the discs in your spine. This is literally the opposite what my PTs have told me.
Thank you for your response Kasper. While there is measurable compression of the discs in your low back during a deadlift, this is not necessarily a bad thing! Our low backs are capable of adapting to the stresses we put on it. One example of a movement that causes a high compression of the lower back discs is, in fact, a golf swing! By building a stronger back in the gym, you can better prepare your low back for the stresses it encounters on the golf course. With all this being said, it is best to consult with your coach or PT about the appropriate starting point for the hip hinging motion to be able to perform a proper deadlift. If you have additional questions - feel free to respond here or schedule a call with one of our experts using this link: app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=15764528&appointmentType=29332145
@@Par4Success thank you for the input! I’ll look more into this. Not about to let back pain get in the way of improving my golf game. Cheers!

Great moves for Golf 👏👏
You know it!
I know my shoulders have issues, Im not exactly sure what they are, but on every rep of the assisted external rotation, there is 3 different "clicks" in my shoulder. Tendons popping? I have no idea, but my extent of shoulder rotation is almost nothing! Im just trying to get back into golf at 54 with almost 14 years since I last played regularly.
Happy to hear you're getting back into golf! I'm not sure what the popping is, but our experts might be able to help. I'd schedule a call with them so they can help identify the problem and get you started on the right path. AD not any tips
Tip 1: Improve neck mobility so you can keep your eye on the ball. To do so, roll a lacrosse ball around your neck/shoulder/trap area until you find a painful point, hold it there (about 30 seconds) to work the soft tissue and increase your necks comfortable range of motion! Hope that helps, and feel free to check out the full "Fix Your NECK PAIN" video on our channel for more tips!
😍 *PromoSM*
It’s clickbait. Says fix fast and then has literally no info on how to do that??!
Actual fast fix: roll a lacrosse ball around your elbow (not on bone) and hold it where it hurts to work the soft tissue and release the tension (consistency is key with keeping the pain away)
This video is really good, bang on thank you
Excellent tip. See a lot of clips but this is a keeper
Thanks James, happy to help!
Thanks. This was great information!
Glad it was helpful!
Same as TEACHERMAN SWING FOR BASEBALL!!!! Great!
😔
i can attest to this. i had 2 hip surgeries in the last 8 months. one of which was a hip replacement. im 2 months post surgery and have gained 6 mph on my iron swing alone. just your average golfer.
Happy to hear that Brian! Glad you had a good experience and didn't fall victim to the system!
your mic quality must've had low mobility and wanted to over speed training
Lol. Very clever. Glad you were able to listen to the entire video and make a play on the topic! Definitely check out something we’ve posted in the last 2 years!
What if my wrist hurts when I take it back to swing. I work on the computer for a living. Could it be from a Carpal Tunnel issue? Hoping to get input about this because it's ruining my game already for this golf season.
I'm sorry your wrist is ruining your season already, it's to early for that. I would give one of our experts a call so they can find the issue and create a plan to fix it and get your season back on track! I have tingling that goes mostly to the knee but sometimes past it. The feeling is pretty intense like having a tens machine down my right thigh and lower back. Stopped playing golf and it quickly improved. I can stand now for an hour mostly asymptomatic. Before I needed to sit after 5-10 minutes.
Sorry to hear that. I would recommend seeing a PT to help fix that issue. Working on core stabilization and hip mobility might help relieve some of the pain too!
I would like to sign up for the 2 week home assessment offwerd on the Michael Breed radio show !
Here you go: par4success.com/breed See you soon!
The chart posted for vertical was the club head speed chart.
Seated chest pass chart also was the club head speed chart.
How often should I do these trigger point releases?
Great question! You can do them 1-2x per day for about a minute each spot. Be sure to do at least one mobility exercise after the soft tissue work. Until you are passing the mobility tests you should be doing soft tissue work and mobility drills each day for best results!
Here’s another video that will show you a couple mobility drills to do after the trigger point/soft tissue work. ua-cam.com/video/bGnW-4S7Kkg/v-deo.htmlsi=XnlM7hGyVPzhKKRs
Thanks! I’ll give it a shot!

Josh, Is there a specific club(s) to use to find your club head speed? Mike
??? The swing speed chart was helpful but you reference a chart for the vertical jump delta and a chart for the horizontal chest push distance and there are none. Having all 3 charts would be better.
great info. costs have skyrocketed now

Muscle fibers can’t get twisted like spaghetti…unless you smash them up into their constituent fibers, stick a fork in them, and twist them up like spaghetti. They do actually shorten. Trigger points are groups of muscle fibers and/or muscle fascia that contracts into firm "nodules" up to about a centimeter long bc of disease, injury, stress, or for other unknown reasons. SUPER painful.
LOL...obviously! It is an ICOLA (it's kind of like a...) to help the average golfer get at least 50% understanding that they need to address the issue with manual intervention. Taking the path most golfers do...rest, do nothing and just "stretch it out"...is a false belief that doesn't help them. Hopefully this helps to break the false belief and get them looking more into actual fixes of the problem, not just symptom management. Thanks for watching and taking the time to interact!
I have been experimenting with horizontal forces in my golf swing. As a test to see if I am rotating and creating potential energy as opposed to swaying is to lift my right toes at the top of my backswing. If I have rotated correctly than the pressure/force between the inside of my right heel and the ground will cause my toes to move away from the target. Similarly if I stop at my impact position, if I lift my left toes the pressure between the inside of my left heel and the ground will cause my toes to move towards the target. Does this sound correct. I can’t find much about horizontal forces on the internet but it seems to work for me.
I worked with a PTA ,all I did was repeating the same exercises each session on my own and he would be behind his computer the whole session. I went to this place for 10 weeks unfortunately paying all “out of pocket” and on top of it my PTA started to have bad attitude towards me. I really regret not quitting it now.
I'm so sorry you had a bad experience and a bad PTA. Unfortunately there are so many out there and it can be hard to differentiate the good from bad. Hopefully this helped you and others know what to look for in the future!
I was expecting how much calories we would need extra on a day we’re playing a round, particularly a tournament day to provide adequate energy during the whole round.
Thanks for your comment! If you're playing a round of golf, it does depends if you're riding or walking. The calculation given at the end of the video (12-14 calories x bodyweight to maintain weight or 14-16 calories x bodyweight to gain weight) would be appropriate for you. If you're riding a cart 12-14x BW and if walking, 14-16x BW for your daily calorie intake. It's also important to get a blend of protein/carbs/fat before you play, and keep energy levels up by eating something every 4-5 holes. It could be beef jerky and a piece of fruit or a PB and J, but you need to eat (and drink lots of water & electrolytes) out on the course for top performance!
Thanks for the great video!
Glad you enjoyed!
Is there an updated link to the home assessment? Great video, thank you!
Yes! Go to par4success.com/youtube
thank you!@@Par4Success
Just found and followed your channel! This is exactly what has happened to me! My lack of rotation has caused me a bunch of back pain. It was not always this way but I have noticed I was swinging harder to compensate for lost distance. The entire time very little hip rotation and less shoulder turn. I was putting so much stress on the muscles I literally hated even going to the range. Working on rotating better and swinging using the rotation and ground to generate power. In other words keeping my shoes on and not ripping my back muscles to shreds. I really hope you get a ton more followers. Simple 1-2 minute videos keep people engaged and does not put a million swing thoughts in the gray matter.
Really appreciate it! If interested we have a full length podcast episode on this topic you can listen to! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-52-how-you-can-alleviate-your-back-pain/id1696620965?i=1000647711529
Josh, What weight of ball to do the chest pass with? 8 lb, 10 lb, 20 lb? Thanks
great question Michael! Typically it depends on your overall body weight and training "age". Assuming you're not brand new to the gym, if you're 150-175lb = 6lb ball, 180-195 = 8lb ball, 195-210 10lb ball, 210+ 12-15 lb ball. Most people think a heavier ball is best, but as golfers we want to be able to throw a relatively light implement fast, just like a golf club. 20lb MB is too much for most people and even then, won't be ideal for power/speed production. Hope this helps!
Thanks! Coach Josh, 62 year old big guy. Definitely familiar with gym. I’ll use 10 lb. I have a 20 lb for ball slams. Video content is great. Mike
@@michaelburton3937 My pleasure Mike, glad you're enjoying the content. Happy to help!

hahahaha talk about clickbait. lol. I'm sure there are thousands of plus handicap golfers that have never used a lacrosse ball.
Thanks for the comment! From the thousands of pro golfers we have worked with, every single one has seen improvement from using a lacrosse ball!
Wow - so well explained, clearly I was one of your time bombs once I got over 60, stopped flexibility and weight training but still kept bombing it out there with many much younger than me. Unfortunately something had to give and that was my lower back - now time to rectify as best possible to still allow me to continue to play the game for years to come...
