Lots of opinions in which order to watch SW. Lots of people give opinion on their own perspective, which is false way to begin with. The order to watch them by far depends on what spoilers if any You know or are familiar with. That being said, if You know very little or nothing, release order is the right. If You know practicly everything from friends, internet and have heard it all before, then timeline is better. If You know some but not all, it can be either way. Depending on what and how much You know about SW. As for Machete order, that only works for hardcore fans.
1:04:33 not weird / 1:05:07 not unpopular at all. Pretty sure this is the top one in the entire saga for a LOT of people. It just builds up the Empire as a strong opponent, so we can leave aside any hope that defeating it will be a cake walk.
The voice actor for Yoda is Frank Oz. He’s done many voices for The Muppets and Sesame Street. You can see him as the desk officer in The Blues Brothers.
It is very common liking this one more than the original one. This one is my favorite of the 9 (or 11, if you count Solo and Rogue 1, still my favorite)
Saw this at it's release. Battle of Hoth still stands out as a highlight for me.
Great reaction video, I'm glad you enjoyed Empire. It's always been my favorite movie. I'm looking forward to your reaction to Return of the Jedi.
Great reaction video, I'm glad you loved Empire! It's still my favorite movie. I'm looking forward to your reaction to Return of the Jedi.
It's not mentioned in the movies but in the books on his way to pay Jabba the Hutt his she was hijacked and they took his money
Yes, I was lucky enough to see this when it came out in theaters. I was 9 yrs old in 1980 when it came out. Upon leaving the ODEON complex in Glasgow onto a bustling Renfield Street it was a massive culture shock to go from being immersed in the Star Wars universe to then be reimmersed into into the real world.
I can’t wait to see your reaction to Return of the Jedi!
Amazing sequel, it improved pretty much everything about the first movie.
I saw it in 1980 when it came out and I was 8 years old. It was not the version you saw and reacted to. The original had no cgi, no altered dialogue, no extra Wampa footage, no Ian McDiarmid playing the Emperor, and Boba Fett had a badass and sinister voice which got replaced by a Kiwi actor in the version you saw. The unaltered version is the best.
Many Star Wars fans (me) think this was the best one
Words and intention are everything (do or do not, there is no 'try'). There are words that are stronger than others. The next time you ask something from someone else, ask "Would you get that for me?", not "Could you get that for me." The latter is so much weaker than the former.
What irritates Han about 3PO is that he's all fluff and pomp and proper speech whereas Han wants the info fast and raw, just the basics, no 'excuse me sir' 'might I suggest" "I noticed earlier", just "the Hyperdrive is damage" BOOM.
A light saber could conceivably cut through the legs of the imperial walkers but it would take a long time, lol, and they're not going to stand still and let him do it.
I was 9 years old. My unforgettable father took us (me, my brother and my sister), by surprise, to the cinema to watch this movie. It was our very first time in a movie theater. We did not even had a TV at home. So, it was a fantastic experience to us. The episodes IV, V and VI are special. The characters are so human and the ideas of correctness, loyalty and good are very well crafted. I liked very much your video, because you can express your sincere emotions immediately after the scenes. Congratulations!
Empire really is the "Best" Film in the SW universe for 36 years (Rogue One really blasted it out of the park for production and performance and cinematography).
YOU can't believe you have to wait!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 I had to wait 3 years!!! 😂😂😂
Now that you have seen this, you must watch this video clip, "SEAGULLS! (Stop It Now)" -- A Bad Lip Reading of The Empire Strikes Back .
It has to be said.. imagine waiting 3 *years* for the third movie! That was us in the original release era....
you look like a true sci fi video game and book geek
😂
I have worn a screen accurate Vader costume, and yes you can see through ish. Same as in Stormtrooper gear. Love you commentary and thoughts ❤ Hoth was not a good day for the Rebels. 1000 soldiers fought to buy time for the transports to get away. Less than 100 survived. And 3/4 of the speeder pilots died. Also fun fact, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fischer had an affair during A New Hope. Frank Oz voices and performs Yoda.
Seems like most people rate this as their favorite, my favorite is still Episode 6 Return of the Jedi.
The fourth-wall breaks are because they stayed true to the Deadpool comic book story. Deadpool knows his in a comic book. (here in a "movie") Since he is aware of his situation it's completely reasonable for him to talk about it.
"...as humans, it's a lot harder to believe in something without proof..." Um? 90% of this planet believes in some sort of god. Proof? None. If _you_ believe in a god, you're part of a group that's less than 33% of all people on Earth, because whatever god _you_ believe in, _other_ people believe in _different_ gods, different miracles, and so on, than _you_ do. The sad truth is that people believe stuff without proof _all the time._ Heck, if you want more examples of this, just check out the recent 2024 U.S. Election. There are people who _actually believe_ that tariffs are something _foreign_ companies pay to sell in the U.S. and _not_ a cost that is passed on to the consumer, all based on 'this one guy said so', instead of looking into it. "...Luke wasn't raised with this..." Hence why Yoda initially said he was 'too old to begin the training'. "...they're hiding on top of your own ship... but I don't know how that would be possible without being detected..." When you send out a signal of some sort, like radar, and get a reflection back, how do you tell if something is _one_ object or _two_ objects? You typically look for a gap in between. If there's some radar coming back, a gap, and then more, that's _two_ objects. If it's all solid, it's one. The Falcon is _touching_ the larger ship, so from the point of view of something like radar, which is what they're most likely using ("they no longer appear on our scopes"), any signal sent out won't detect a gap between the Falcon and the Star Destroyer. Beyond this, things _like_ radar tend to be pretty inaccurate. Like with our radar now, we can't tell you what a detected object is. Plane? Helicopter? What model? All you see is a blip, a dot, a detection. It's quite possible this is much the same, so they can't see the entire surface. _Then_ all it takes is people not looking out a window. People on ships _rarely_ look out windows because... well, there's nothing to see out there. Just water off to the distance. So no one notices. "...you could not even say it back..." He's been telling her and showing her how he feels the whole movie. She already knows how he feels, and he's been trying to get her to admit how _she_ feels. Plus, of course, he's a cocky bastard. ;) "...I love how they're like 'we don't get paid enough for this, we surrender willingly'..." I... think _anyone_ would if the other side didn't start firing. Even if it's equal numbers, being surrounded like that by people with weapons is a _really_ bad place to be in. You can only shoot towards one or two of them at a time, so if you miss you'll hit nothing at all, but if _they_ miss firing in at you, they are pretty likely to hit the guy next to you. There's a reason 'being outflanked' is considered so devastating in combat, even modern warfare. "...is it weird that I actually think I love this one even more than I liked the first..." Nope. Many, _many_ people (me included) are of the opinion that this is the best Star Wars movie. Not just of the original trilogy, but of _all_ of them. Mind you, such people (also like me) tend to like the prequels less overall than the original trilogy (I _hate_ the first movie in the prequels, and it kinda taints the rest which are _probably_ not so bad but it's hard to go back and check due to how tainted they are by the first in that series), and many of is find the sequel trilogy to be utter flaming garbage (I hate all three of the sequel trilogy movies with the rage of a billion supernovas). I think you'll like the third one. Perhaps not as much as this one, and there's good reason for that, a reason that taints all the ones that came after and just got worse over time. Great reaction! Have a nice day!
Yeah you understood Obi Wan right. Think of it as the christian equivalent of a person has died but their soul may remain. I think for most people this is the best SW movie, me included. Personally my favouritness order is 5, 3, 6, 4, 1, 2. I think for most people its smt like 5, 6, 4, 3, 1, 2 tho. Thank you for sharing the reaction c:
There is no correct watch order. There are so many movies and shows now that several watch orders have been created. Release order is always safe, but it's not necessary and only gatekeeping purists demand that you stick to it. Chronological and Machete order work just fine. I recommend Machete order, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6, at least for the first 6 movies and then from there you can watch everything else however you want. Machete order is a favorite of some fans because of certain moments, and because 6 is considered the grand finale of the first 6 movies.
Watch in release order, then, if you want, watch in episodic order.
I remember way back in the day, when there was a radio program that played the top songs from record singles, the Cantina bar song made the top 40, not sure what it peaked at.
It's pretty hard to find a 1977 version of Star Wars, maybe on a VHS tape. In the early 90's they were "Remastered", some scenes were upgraded. The first thing is the scrolling title, it was just called Star Wars, there was no episode #'s and the New Hope wasn't added till the prequels came out.
Jeanet, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy. It is your destiny..
59:30 Yes he did. Boba Fett just took him away. 😜
"Wars not make one great."
No spoilers, but the original Star Wars Trilogy does have the greatest retcons of all-time lol. You'll have your own opinion if you notice them, of course.
The way she holds herself and her voice. To this day, I can't believe Carrie Fisher was only 19 when they filmed it in 1976
Ion canons or bombs are useful to disable a ship by temporarily fry the electrical circuits, it's like an EMP. The goal of the Rebels at the battle of Hoth is not to turn the tide, but is a delaying action to allow the ships to escape. Grim implications indeed... see the prequel trilogy for that. Of course Yoda reminds you of ET, there was one guy disguised as ET during the Halloween seen and ET went straight to that person ! (the soundtrack by the same composer even quotes Yoda's theme ! When you'll be watching Ep1, pay attention during the Senate scene, in a corner, there will be a bunch of ETs. This comes from the fact that Spielberg and Lucas quote eachother quite often in their movies. ET has a lot of Star Wars references; toys, in Eliott's bedroom. Tarkin mentioned the Emperor during the first Death Star scene in Ep4, saying that the Senate was disolved and that the Empire was now a full dictatorship and that Regional Governors had all authority over their assigned territories... The Emperor perfectly knows who Vader is, HE MADE Anakin become Vader ! Simply, dissociating the two allows him to better manipulate Vader. The blue gards are Lando's gards, not Imperials. The cyborg guy is called Lobot, he's indeed a cyborg. He serves as Lando's secretary and way to access and highjack computer systems too... Leia is heartbroken and angy. Chewie, whose culture is all about loyalty and honor just wants to kill Lando for his betrayal. You cannot really boast going against the Empire when a 19 km long Superstardestroyer is looming over your city with all its guns, fighters and troop complements... Vader's ship is that big. Ep5 is my favorite too.
there or out for the music star wars wouldn't be what is great jhon williams
46:05 what happened.
Congratulations. This is the first comment section for Empire I've ever seen where someone doesn't try to convince people that the Wompa was added to cover for injuries Hamill got in a car wreck. (The timeline doesn't even match up, people.) Maybe as a species, we are finally advancing.
Check out Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo.
No, not an unpopular opinion. Empire Strikes back is widely considered by many to be the best overall. Although all three films of the original trilogy have their high points. I saw it back in 1980 (aged 10) in a cramped and packed cinema of only 100 people in those days. Vader being Luke's father had been kept a closely guarded secret by George Lucas to avoid the news leaking out, making sure audiences heard it for the first time in theatres. I remember people looking at each other in silent disbelief at that moment. Completely unexpected. The nostalgia is strong in this one!☺
May the force be with you
"After all, he's only a Wookie." C-3PO just being casually racist 😆
I will always feel sad when I see anyone watching these movies for the first time, looking *down*, at a 15-inch laptop screen, and not *up*, at 60 ft x 30 ft movie theater screen.
You have to give Luke big props for one thing--despite getting his butt handed to him by Vader, he never backed down, and even chose DEATH over joining the dark side of the Force. When I first saw this at age 12, I never grasped the fact that Luke was completely overmatched, and Vader was just toying with him at the start. I actually believed Luke would win. When he lost his hand, it was one of the biggest shocks in my young life as far as seeing that a hero could lose. Then...Vader's reveal totally caught me off guard and left me reeling. This was prime Lucas.
If you can't believe you have to wait until the next film to see them save Han...imagine how we Gen Xers who watched the original had to wait 3 YEARS for the next episode :D
Lando's cyborg sidekick is named Lobot. He's basically wi-fi'ed to the city computer, so he's very handy.
57:11 More to the aspect of Lando, he did try to dissuade the Millennium Falcon from landing by ordering his men to deny him a berth. It was only when the Empire intervened that Lando was forced to grant them one. Lando was on Han's side from the start, but as you note, he has 5.4 million people who rely on him. He was trying to find an opportunity to turn the situation to his advantage, which eventually he did.
I never ever got that.
"I forgot how violent this is" Remember, it's called Star WARS.
