I will never forget Betty and her husband Paul inviting my family together with dear friends to their private yacht Honu in the summer of 1973. For me as a twelve year old boy this was the beginning of my intense love for powerboats and motor yachts.

I remember this being on regularly on BBC2 when I was a youngster. Brings back great memories.

1980's '41 Apache's weren't merely 'race boats' they were wave crushing monsters that mocked the competition. Apache 41's are my all-time fave v-bottom monsters.

These are two mid to late 70's old ocean girls that have been fixed up, tuned up, possibly re-powered and still have some speed in 'em.

Good old racing days

I've stood in that rear pod doing 88mph in Southampton Water in 1989. unforgettable

I had the privilege to watch her pilot the Michelob Light Wellcraft Scarab off Saugatuck, Michigan in 1981 and 1982. It was incredible. First year she won her class and it was so rough that she broke an ankle. Second year, she broke an outdrive and limped it in to still finish.
