      @@Vanguard717 star trek in general should get more games. they tried with stellaris but that was literally worse than a star trek stellaris mod. my guess is the rightsholders are just super focused on tv/film and have little experience with games.

      This was the 1998 version, the 94 version was more pixely. Tie Fighter released 30 years ago, on 20/7/1994

    The briefing sure left a false message by suggesting enemy Assault Gunboats will arrive. Instead, you get shielded and missile armed TIE Fighters. Impressive, you took out Sakin 1. Gutsy of you to keep the Platform's missile launcher intact for much longer though. Darn, you didn't get the Escort Carrier Jitte. What a waste, your orders having to destroy the Cargo Ferries and the varied Containers. They should have instead been worth disabling and capturing. Am shocked that your wingmen and ATRs didn't seem to have too many difficulties. They sure aren't as scrappy as the wingmen in XWvsTF and XWA. Wait, one missile missed?

      In my 1998 playthrough I had to send my wingmen home because they kept dying to the platform, i also had issues killing the warhead launcher as it was hard to see

      @@Vanguard717 I see. Somebody really should do some research video on how the A.I. in the X-Wing games seems less smarter over time. Could have been remedied with an Advanced Concussion Missile or two.

    *(sees description)* Good luck and fair winds to your break. I think the briefing is a bit wrong. In Legends, the Victory-class can go into atmospheric conditions, while only the bigger Imperial-I and Imperial-II classes cannot got past orbit. Nah, you're actually flying the TIE Phantom from Rebel Assault II, not the TIE Sentinel from the Galaxies MMO. (And strange thing, having pinup decals.) I don't see a planet in this mission. Oh, well, this game sure isn't XWA when it comes to having planetary orbit settings. Darn, those Phantoms sure traded stealth for heavier payloads. Love seeing the Victory-class broadsiding against the Nebulon-Bs, with support from starfighters. Battalion in the end, not battalian.

      This is the Tie Sentinel, a different albeit similar looking ship to the tie phantom. The EH does not go by the same canon universe as the other timeline does. The EH missions also feature bugs and typos due to the beta testers not catching everything wrong with them.

    I've never seen this many A-Wings in a single official mission in any X-Wing series game, I suspect. Done the mission so well, the story script broke. Yeah, it happens.

      Some EH custom missions have a lot of fighters, sometimes an absurd number. I remember one mission that had 300+ enemy fighters in it.

Good, you took out Strike Cruiser Serpent. 10:00: Darn, they got to the Grappler first. And same with the Shadow. It's darkly fitting, the cutscene. It's actually a reverse of that triumphant intro for the game when you look upon it closely. 12:19: Wish that detaching can happen in game, even in X-Wing Alliance. 12:31: Sienar as in "see-nar"? I thought it's pronounced "sai-nar". To think Zaarin's VA is the same as the Secret Order guy, Purple Tentacle, and surprise surprise, Murray the Talking Skull. Gotta love LucasArts' voice actors and direction; I'd say they're on par with the contemporary DC Animated Universe's all-star cast and Andrea Romano's voice direction. Appropriate name, Medal of *Dignity.* Your side was basically slapped hard by Zaarin with your tails between your legs at this point. 1,807,026+329,625 = 2,136,651 points.     Ah, the return of this very playthrough. I was awaiting when the Rebels get their comeuppance in this Battle. (You have 8 Heavy Rockets though, not 4.) 4:34: Witness the T-Wing, dubbed one of the worst starfighters in Star Wars and sci-fi history, a lackluster A-Wing replacement, and a cockamamie Battlestar Galactica Viper ripoff. Interesting how you can hear enemy comms between the platform and the Ramparts. Destroying the enemy group Rampart would have sent in the B-Wings as a mutual response. Disabling them, but not destroying them immediately should make the mission easier as a start. I would have spent the reloaded Rockets for more points. The Rebels' loss, Zaarin's gain, saith the briefing. Shame you won't end up using the mag pulse much later in this game. Strange how it only gets mass use in X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and even then, one may opt to use the destructive secondaries instead... and I wonder why the XWA campaign didn't make use of them.

    Am quite impressed on how the fans installed the TIE Defender and the Missile Boat for this game. Funny, TIE Defenders should be easily countered by Missile Boats. Guess it just depends on the pilot and the allegiances. Why need bonus goals when they're also the primaries? Good job, having all missiles being positive hits.

      Not sure why it is like that, I have never seen primary goals overlap with secondary/bonus like in this mission before. Tie Defenders are actually pretty strong vs missile boats due to chaff pretty much negating all warheads/tractor beam and them being more manoeuvrable, and also the fact they have a better turning radius so in a dogfight they are a better choice

    Ah the end of battle 6,also named waiting for the tug to complete docking. Honestly battle 6 feels like a coffee break between 5 and 7. It would made more sense to swap battle 5 and 6 IMO. Especially because battle 7 beginning is the hunt for harkov fleet.

    For this mission I go with rocket. Just rush the 2 corvette inspect and destroy. It s still count as all mine destroy and all it stay are the fighter (in a T/A no rebel fighter stand a chance even without missile)

    This mission is so ball busting to 100%. If I rush the secondary objective and dogfight for the primary,the a wing spawn and those advanced missile are a nearly one shot. If I dogfight for the primary,well as soon as the last ship is destroyed bonus goal xwing spawn and I have to fight them,so the container are destroy by allies craft. Also fighting to close of the lulsa rise the risky than mine laser hit the cruiser,making the A wing spawn. Why having put 8 craft with Advance missile as security. The lulsa is already invincible.

    Incredible how the scoring system work in this game,the bonus goal of the mine is higher than destroying all the TA. I suspect it s here to at least bring some point to the player because I suspect the dev thought 99% percent of player would either flee once the osprey is here and all the mandatory goal are complete or die trying to fight those TA.

      @@johnspartan2096 battle 9 mission 2 requires you to capture only one tie defender in the 95 version of the game but all four in the 98 version of the game due to a bug allows you to complete the entire bonus objective with only one capture in 95

    Poor Hamo Blastwell... you know, this R2 subversion stuff will end up becoming important in the Shadows of the Empire novel, and also a key plotline involving Ahsoka's golden droid in a The Clone Wars 2008 arc. Comms failure is to blame for your fellow Y-Wings not even helping you out, according to the Official Strategy Guide. 6:25: Bad luck there. Good thing the hull damaged T/I is going home. 10:12: That was unfair. Your shields were decent enough to have shrugged that. Poor T/Is. Their craft were literally created to make mincemeat out of bomber craft, and yet this one Y-Wing took out 52 of them. Strange game, X-Wing, where a Star Destroyer is trivial when fighting against just one Y- or B-Wing, and yet a Nebulon-B is outrageously feared. Even without taking out the Invincible, I would have had enough lore-friendly points to acquire the Golden Wings. Anyways, congrats on finally acquiring the coveted Diamond Eyes!!! Good luck with the next mission. It's a doozy.

    Am not this fond of XWvsTF, but then again, if it means passing time while helping the channel... This game shouldn't have had those distracting engine sounds. Gotta miss the diegetic iMUSE too... though in this game's defense, at least it has more tracks playing the X-Wing Alliance. Can be distracting, switching crafts a la Battlestations Midway and Pacific. Darn, no killsharing yet. Interesting that this is also a Combat Chamber mission for TIE Fighter. Not only that, the Ardent does appear as well in Empire at War.

    0:39: Doubt these Y-Wings were stolen from the Rebellion. They and the Z-95 Headhunters of TIE Fighter onwards are free game to neutral forces due to their supposed common numbers since the Clone Wars. 1:10: You may not notice it easily, but the cockpit closing down has a distinct whirring noise. Really nice yet easy to miss detail. SHU Rescue *Riker?* Do I see a suspected Star Trek reference? 2:57: Darn, a miss. You know, the upcoming TRNs deserve missiles more. 5:15: Another one. 6:41: Poor pirates. They didn't even get close to their booty. Even when the mission's done, everything is free rein. It's not as if they're in abnormally numbers or they'll return in the scripted plot later. Plus, one less pirate in the galaxy is a huge boon.

    Script seems to be broken - I get the same thing where in a mission for Rouge Squadron to attack the ISD they don't.

      You have to wait for the X-Wings to finish flying their flight plan first before they will attack the ISD, it will take a minute or two which is why this mission is so challenging on hard solo

    You have 8 Heavy Rockets, not 4. Always remember the 2 Missiles = 1 Rocket rule. Those CRVs feel really obsolete in this game, due to the Rockets. How exactly does docking and supplying work on a space platform akin to ZA-13? Spinning round and round and round, your wingmen. If there's a convenience for TFTC, it's that allies head for home when no hostiles are coming anymore.

    Now this is an easily assured Silver Scimitar mission for me. I would have just taken out the FRTs and the CRV Ranger myself. Darn it, killstealed from two Junos and the Ranger. Must say, however, you flying quite well with a competent enough wingman is a breath of fresh air, coming from experience with LPhoenix's run of the game. 19:11 is something to behold. And good thing you withdrew them when they're spent on hull strength, Commander. 92 T/Is?! Overboard again, the devs.

    Some tour missions can often somewhat be a bit of a giant pain in the ass to do especially when playing an assigned craft for a certain mission depending greatly on how they play out, wouldn't you say?

    Nice, you're not doing the shuttle withdrawal loophole. 2:56: True mission start. Thankfully, you don't lose points or your pilot for playing the coward, unlike when you get shot down, captured, and/or nova'd. This game has a notorious lack of true save states. Always focus on the Bombers first. One for each torpedo if needed. Pause at 5:23-5:43. 12:02: Impressive combo. 16:40: Would have spared her, for plot reasons. I bet Orion IV is a victim of your Imperial player character in Empire at War's campaign. 21:00: Huh. That's some new Imperial spacecraft. Seven missions later, we'll know about it. As expected, you breezed through the mission in spite if this being deemed as a near impossible mission in the game and even the first X-Wing novel. 28 TIEs from the Warspite is four TIEs too much on average.

      @@Vanguard717 Can excuse it, what with the possibility that the Warspite ditched some cargo for a slightly increased TIE complement. The Invincible's TIEs in the last mission is more worth criticizing, and then there's the occasional later mission (T4M17 - "Attack the Frigate Red Wind, I think) where there's a 102 GUNs hyperspacing in, just to make a futile rescue on an Imperial frigate... I would have preferred only 36 to 48, I guess.

    Launch sequence is interesting. Why only one Defender in an arsenal of Avengers? 5:30: According to rough mission notes, destroying this T/A shall send in another replacement. Same with T/A Delta, which sends in two T/As of Zeta. 5:45: Darn it! 8:33: Their fault for having the skills of that Rebels animated series "ace" pilot who tested the Elsbeth-Thrawn design. His name eludes me. You had two torps left. Platform would have been a good place to prove their worth. And now you've achieved all the Secret Order ranks. Not that that final accomplishment should stop you on being a completionist.

      @@Vanguard717 The game seems to let you reach the maximum rank playing on normal and without complete all bonus goal (only all secondary). In medium and with only the secondary (and some obvious bonus goal) you reach the maximum rank in the last battle.

By the way, I might recommend the Mac's Lore breakdown of Operation Strike Fear for extra entertainment. 2:35: It just... appeared. Nothing you can do for CRV Mahan. Thank goodness that hull damaged Beta 1 stayed to fight. 9:28: Don't care for now, must destroy all TIEs. Dang, Invincible's down again. This mission can be a Silver Talons grab even without it... and I'm surprised you didn't use that last torp.

    Ah, this Battle and the next one will make you suffer for your heroics, but at least you'll get to huet Zaarin a lot to the point that he'll barely have a fleet in the last Battle. Omar 3 is a goner, don't bother. 4:48: Sacrifice against a kill much? Good thing this game allows laser runs. Look at how Wing Commander II treats attack runs against capital ships, as a painful contrast. 19:48: At least the mission is completed (wait, there are people still in there?), and at least this isn't as hard hitting as a FreeSpace 1 and 2 mission. Darn, you didn't show off the kill ratings. Strange how the Official Strategy Guide doesn't have the T/A destruction bonus mentioned.

    Can't easily take out missiles in this game. You're better off jinking away. A-Wings need missile klaxons. The lack of an R2 unit giving warnings is just a dealbreaker. Strange how Star Destroyers are easily taken out via their shield generators here. They also have a small blindspot behind their engines too. At the very least, you could have also spared Invincible. Plot reasons mandate again. I bet you got an offscreen reprimand, before being pardoned out of the brig by an awestruck Mon Mothma. Easy Bronze Cluster mission, as always. 60 T/Is and 60 T/Bs from the Invincible? That's way beyond the 72 TIEs mark.
