Hi, I'm James Cochran, a native of Southport, North Carolina. I grew up here and fell in love with the outdoors. I love to hunt, trap, fish and farm. I have a large vegetable garden, and work full time as a cad technician.
Here, you will find videos of self filmed hunts for whitetail deer, turkeys, some trapping, fishing, diy, taxidermy, as well as game camera footage of critters being critters.
At first UA-cam was where I uploaded videos to share with family, but now I am trying to grow my channel. Inspired by channels like Tim Wells Bow Hunter, Deermeatfordinner, Barstool Outdoors, The Hunting Public and others, I am constantly trying to improve the content of my videos and to bring entertainment to you.
I really appreciate all who watch my videos.
Please feel free to comment but please be respectful. Negative comments towards me or my viewers will not be tolerated and will be removed ASAP.
Thank you so much for watching my videos, and my God Bless Each of You!!!

Relentless Pursuit, Ole Danny VS The Doe BrIgade (Again)
Once again I am after a doe or two when the "Doe Brigade" shows up and they are definitely looking out for Ole Danny, but I switched up and was in a stand they were not expecting me to be in and couldn't get my wind. I had the advantage today, but was still in for a surprise. Thank you so much for watching!

Deer Hunting Fail, Squirrel Pays With His Life!!! Here I am hunting whitetail deer and have a group of does come in under me at less than 15 yards only to have the wind swirl and give me away. After a while of sitting and not seeing any more deer, the squirrels got the best of me and I drilled a big male fox squirrel. Thank you so much for watching! #hunting #deerhunting #bowhunting

Marlin 30-30 Lever Action Double Doe Kills (and a bloody nose) It's late deer season in Southeast North Carolina and the deer are getting pretty spooky and hard to get a shot at with the bow, so I brought out the Marlin Lever Action 30-30 and took care of business. Thank you so much for watching! #hunting #deerhunting #marlin3030

Beware Bowhunters-Don't Let This Happen To You! The weather has been really cold for our area this deer season and so I purchased some heavy duty cold weather outerwear clothing. The parka is very thick with insulation and caused my bowstring to hit the sleave, throwing my shot off at a doe whitetail. I think I have found a way to solve the problem for now. Thank you so much for watching! #hunt...

Real Hunting Think Self Filming is Easy, Think Again It was raining pretty good when my target buck decided to make a very quick appearance and I had to make a choice to shoot and not get it on camera or risk not getting a shot. For me that's a no brainer, I'm a deer hunter first, camera man last! Shots at mature bucks don't come often here and when you get the shot you better take it. Thank yo...

Great Self Filmed Bow Hunt-Perfect Shot Placement Here I begin with a hunt from a few weeks ago where I made what I thought was a good shot on a doe. I should have given her more time before trying to track her, but I didn't and she ran off possibly into a creek and I never could find her even with a tracking dog. Then we switch to the present and I shoot another doe but this time things turn o...

What brand is your gun rest? Saving money now for that scope.
P3 Ultimate Gun Vise, $154 on Amazon right now (without the shooting rest attachment $60), you might find it cheaper if you look around. It's a great tool for working on your toys and sighting in, I was thinking about getting a lead sled to use just for shooting, it's a simple and solid looking rest. But all in all, the ultimate is a great tool, especially for this procedure where you need to clamp the gun down and keep it from moving. Thanks for watching and good luck!
I must have an early 935. My gun isn't drilled and tapped for a scope rail
@@mainebigfoothunter7088 I'm no expert but I bet you could have it drilled and tapped by a gunsmith, if you wanted to. Thanks for watching!
How much weight have you lost?
@@scottkennedy9732 50 pounds.
Building one myself, but finding free carpet can be a little tough to find. I'm looking. Someone will eventually give me carpet for free.
I found someone who was replacing all of theirs and they were happy to give it away, and I also went to the nearest carpet store and was able to get some remnants the installers throw away. If you look for someone who installs carpet, I'll bet they can help you out. Thanks for watching!
So if my shots are left and I want to adjust tem to the right, which way do I move my windage turret? Clockwise or counter Clockwise, I have the same scope as you.
@@chrisrios3914 look at your dial, it's marked for left or right. To move the point of impact right, turn in the direction that indicates right etc. Actually, you don't have to even think about it with this method. Aim at bullseye, shoot, put crosshairs back on bullseye, and adjust the scope till the crosshairs are over the bullet hole. Done. (you should be hitting where you aim at this point) Then you would adjust elevation for your ballistics chart to achieve the zero you are looking for, for example, set 1.3" high (while still aiming at bullseye) at 50 yards for a 200 yard zero, or whatever your ballistics says for your particular bullet. Thanks for watching!
Nice!!!

@@schrade153uh thank you very much and thanks for watching!
Brother you did that the hard way. Just take a razor knife and sore on side of the shrink wrap all the way down and it will peel off in almost one piece. I'd be carful about clamping those cable stops in a vice too. The last thing you want is a cable stop to come loose when climbing or sitting. And..if you have a gas stove hold the shrink wrapped cable over a low flame and turn the cable as you heat. Does a quicker and better job than a heat gun..Thanks for the videos!

Why not use a carpet knife/ utility blade. You had me worried using the angle grinder on carpet. Stay safe man and thanks for the video
@@SeanTyree-f4o I did the first time I did this and it took forever, so I grabbed something I'm really familiar with to speed things up. Probably not the best way for someone who isn't used to handling a grinder all the time. No doubt there are safer ways to do it. Thanks for watching!
Another good one!! I sure hate to hear they selling out. It’s a shame what this county has become. I’ve lost 2 properties this year to developers.
Yep, I'm afraid the days of families owning and passing down land are gone. Brunswick county is being destroyed right in front of us.
Thanks…owned my summit for 2 seasons now and seems like it needs redone.Area of shrink tube around the lugs is getting pretty frayed on some and makes it hard to slide the cable out to reposition.
Yes, it's definitely will begin to show wear pretty fast if you use it a lot. I've been thinking about buying a second set just so I always have one ready to go. Thanks for watching!

What if you took a file and just broke the corners of the inside edges would that help from wearing out the cables?
@@LightningGB93 you could probably use a dremel tool and round them a little, but the abrasion from the trees eventually wears on them too. I've had that stand a long time and only replaced the shrink tubing once. That's not too bad imo. Thanks for watching!

Since the first shot. You aim again to the center of the cross paper and without moving the rifle, you move your crosshairs to the holes, am I right Sr?

What brand of gun rest is that? I'm looking for a new rest and i like the looks of yours. Thanks
@@bwillis3264 it's called the ultimate gun rest. It is best suited for working on different guns. It's probably not the best one for sighting in, but it works ok. I'm thinking of getting a lead sled to use for sighting in. But all in all it's a pretty good all around tool. Thanks for watching!
Why have the magnification at max power sighting your gun? Does it make that much of a difference?
It helps me see the sight in markings on the target more clearly and I seem to recall that many years ago that was the way most recommended, and being the old dude that I am, I'm also a creature of habit and kind of set in my ways. The truth is, you can sight in at any power you like and as far as I know it doesn't make any difference. For hunting, this seems to work fine, at least for me. If I were going for extreme long range accuracy, I would contact the scope manufacturer and see what they recommend. Thanks for watching!
@@TheCarolinacadmanOutdoors thank you! It’s always good to learn new ways to sight in a rifle. I have a 220 as well and I love mine. It’s very accurate but have not tested it out to that distance yet but plan to. Thank you again.

I just done mine. Used 3:1 shrink wrap, as noted on Summits site. I had to heat a few times and still seems like the shrink tube doesn't draw up as much as I'd like on the section without knobs.
@@ALNTV1541 I guess all shrink wrap isn't created equal, mine did pretty well. Thanks for watching, have a great season!
@@TheCarolinacadmanOutdoors well, I ordered 3:1 3/4 shrink tubing from Amazon. That's what Summit's site says is the size. Comparing it to Summit brand, the Amazon brand had a thicker wall. Which I guess kept it from seating right. I bought the Summit brand today and it worked fine.
@@ALNTV1541 I'm glad you got it worked out, this should help some people make a choice. Thanks again!
