I see that you used a huge tile for your backsplash. I will be using fairly standard 3 x 6 subway tiles. The long wall in my kitchen is about 12 feet and drops about quarter-inch over that distance. The countertop is granite with a 4 inch vertical granite backsplash. Above that is about 14 inches of drywall that I would like to tile. Although I tiled a whirlpool and bathroom floor to ceiling 30 years ago, I am now in my late 50s and my tiling days are numbered. Yesterday, I purchased an angle grinder with a 3 inch diamond blade and a manual tile cutter. I do not have a wet saw, but may be renting one for a day to make all of these bottom-row cuts. I may even buy a diamond blade to install on what I rent from Home Depot. My basic question is whether the process you outlined will work for smaller tiles when there is less of a drop out of level? Should I be selecting a different tile size? Any comments are extremely welcome. Thanks in advance. Paul, Pittsburgh PA

Did tub pull walk-in shower build.. used Kerdi pan. Go board walls. Used Kerdi band n unmodified thinset on pan to wall seams. Used aqua defense n fabric on wall seams. Then triple coated pan seams w aqua defense.. walls got 3 coats too. Entire install flawless.. yes you use aqua defense on Kerdi. it adheres to just bout anything
