Building plastic scale models has always been a fun hobby for me. I built them when I was a young boy, and now that I am retired I am enjoying the hobby once again. I hope youenjoy watching.
Monogram 1/48 AD-6 Skyraider Part 1
Here is part 1 of the Monogram 1/48 scale AD-6 Skyraider. This is an older kit that came out in the 1980s. I found this kit online pretty cheap so I just had to get it, and build it. The detail of this kit is pretty soft, and basic, but the quality of the plastic is not bad considering it's age.
Hope you enjoy my build of this classic kit from Monogram.

This is part 4, and the final build video of the Hawker Hurricane in 1/32 scale by Revell. It has been fun at times, and annoying at times. I am satisfied with how it turned out but I wouldn't say it was my best considering what I had to work with. Happy model making everyone!

Here is part 1 of my Revell 1/32 scale Hawker Hurricane model build. So far this has been an enjoyable kit to work on. The parts fit has been great so far, the detail has been very nice, and the instructions are easy to follow. This is not a beginner kit. Revell has labeled this kit as a "Level 5" model kit. There are many small fragile parts in building the cockpit and it does give a nice deta...

This is the final part of the B-25J Mitchell in 1/48 scale by Revell. This is an older classic kit from the 1970s and certainly has it's issues with parts fit, but with a little patience makes into a nice display. Thanks for watching, and have fun making models!

Here is part 2 of my B-25J Mitchell build by Revell in 1/48 scale. This is an older classic kit from 1977 that has plenty of fitting issues, and soft details but comes with 2 choices for decals. In spite of the drawbacks to this old kit it is a fun kit to build. Hope you like it!

Here is a old classic kit from back in the 70s. I found this at a yard sale recently, and the guy sold it to me for 5 dollars! It was still brand new, and wrapped in the sealed plastic. How can you refuse that? So here is part 1 of this build of an iconic airplane from WW2. This is going to be a fun trip down memory lane for me as I built this kit when I first got back into building plastic mod...

Here is part 3, and the final part of this ME 410 model kit build. It was a fun kit, and an easy build for the most part except for the clear parts for the canopy. I really struggled with it, and redid the canopy twice but still didn't get it right. Ah well, it still was a fun kit to make, and came out pretty decent. It will get hung from the ceiling with some other models built wheels up. Hope...

Part 4, and final of this M18 Hellcat build. This is a great kit that has nice details, good fitting parts, easy instructions, and an interesting subject. I had fun building this kit from Tamiya, and I highly reccomend it if you are wanting to build an armor kit. There is only one real negative part to this kit, and that is the decals. They are thin, and fragile, and tend to silver easily. I us...

Talk about nostalgia! Those old Monogram kits were great; certainly better than the early Airfix kits available back in the early 80's. You are doing a fantastic job on this old girl (can I still say that??). She really looks great Paul. Which color scheme are you going for? All the best Paul from a warm relatively clear late afternoon here in Stratford, New Zealand! Dennis.
Greetings from a wet and cold northern California. Yes, she is an old classic from monogram, much better then those airfix kits from back in the same time period. Still, there are some challenges with this kit. Thanks!
1977 first release
Yes. And old classic kit.
@paulsmodels Yes. I don't have that one but I have three others in storage.
My model turned out great but then the decals just fell apart.
Sorry to hear that. There are aftermarket decals available.
Looks cool. 🛩
Thank you!
Great looking build!
Thank you!
Morning Paul, the Hurricane is looking great, you have done a fantastic job, it really looms very mean with the two cannon on board, thanks for sharing the great build, bedt regards from Australia, Les
Thanks Les!
nice introduction
Thank you.
Too true, enjoyed the build.
If I may make a suggestion, spreading the fuselage with a piece of sprue is an accepted way to close that gap. Great job wrestling with this kit.
Thanks. I've used strips of styrene, spue goo, putty etc on several different models treating the gaps. On this kit I just decided to do what I did. There is no "accepted" way. It's whatever works.
great looking aircraft - compared to F-117 ! hopefully someone will release it again one day ?
Who knows?
Coming along nicely. The fit and gaps, well that just something us modelers have to deal with.
It is. Thanks!
Sorry Paul to see Revell's lack of Engineering finesse and an obvious effort at test fitting their products prior to release to the Public. Special Hobby kits were like this at one stage - I havn't built another one in a while so I don't know what they are like now. I do remember the Hawker Tempest you built that was in fact a Special Hobby kit. It appears, to me at least, that Revell design these products on Computer, then flick the files straight to a third party, probably the third party who bid for the job cheapest, then manufacture, box and release. I would have engineered those wing roots separately so they attach to the fuselarge directly, and onto a wing 'box' that a single peice leading edge would mount onto. Job done. We could go on and on about Revell Paul, but I think it's a pretty safe bet they don't care about who buys their products, as long as money changes hands and they make some level of profit. As for unbuildable kits try Heller's 72 scale Constellation, Revell's 32 scale P-38 Lightning, or AMT's 16 scale 1955 Chev Bel Air, that ended up in the trash just a few weeks ago. I wish you well moving forward on this project Paul - to be honest I am now looking forward to your next Project... All the best from a dark and cold Stratford, New Zealand! Cheers, Dennis
Thanks for all your comments Dennis. I actually built Revell's 1/32 P-38 about 5 years ago. It has pretty bad fitting issues, worse then this Hurricane. It's really a crap shoot with Revell, and Monogram. I have had some good kits with them, not too many but some. Most have been laced with fitting issues; gaps, uneven matching of parts, canopies to large. I am going to finish the Hurricane as I paid decent money for it, and I want a 1/32 scale Hurricane on the shelf with my other WW2 airplanes. And then there was that 1/32 Tempest I just built a year ago...yikes!
@@paulsmodels I agree Paul. Revell's 32 scale Ju88, their Arado floatplane in 32 scale. Fantastic kits. The truth is we will all, as modellers, never know what goes on in the Revell Boardrooms, and what their Business models are in regard to plastic model kits. I do know that Revell Manufacture many other product lines. I wonder what they are like? Hmmm... I built the Monogram 48 scale kits when I was a Lad, and loved them. I can't remember (too far back deep in the mists of time...!) whether or not I had fit issues. I was young then, and didn't care. In fact I am currently working on Monogram's 48 scale B-29, the only one of the 48 scale Monogram bombers I didn't build as a young Man. And it's fighting me Paul...it really is. I know some of it is me and my current state of medical health, however I am also cognoscent enough to know some of it is the Product. I am an Engineer (or rather was an Engineer - Aeronautical Design Engineer), so I know a bad kit when I see one. There is no way I would design the Hurricane kit you are now struggling with Paul in the same manner as Revell have done. It's a pretty safe bet Zukei Mura's Design Engineers wouldn't either. I know this kit isn't exactly cheap either. Here in New Zealand they want $123.00 for it (approx., depending on the Vendor). It's almost a pride thing. That Tempest was an older Special Hobby Product, and I am sure they would have improved their products since releasing that particular model kit. Anyway, all the best Paul! I look forward to seeing where you take this project from here. I would subscribe to your channel; sadly due to our personnel circumstances I cannot fund you in any meaningful way. If I am wrong in this please let me know Paul and I'll happily sign on! Cheers, Dennis.
Sorry to bother you again Paul...would you consider building one of the Hasegawa 1/32 Japanese fighter planes? (Shoki, George, Zero perhaps?). Kind Regards, Dennis
Sure, I think so someday.
Coming along nicely!
Thanks!
Hi Paul, the Hurricane is looking great, one of the aircraft that was always in the Spitfures shadows, best regards from Australia, Les
Thanks! Over shadowed yes, but actually had a greater kill ratio then the Spitfire.
Hey, can the gun move up and down?, cheers
Mine doesn't.
@@paulsmodels Hm? So some others move? I’m looking to buy this one for a diorama
Use lighter fluid to remove that label without damaging the box.
That is an interesting comment/tip, but I'm not even concerned about saving the box. Have a good day!
Good Afternoon Paul from a cold and wet Stratford, New Zealand! You are doing a fantastic job on that kit Paul. I am most impressed with this product - it looks to me as though somebody in Corporate Revell has taken a look at the diving profits of their products, and maybe listened to the comments from modellers the world over, and decided it's time to get back into the game. That clear peice in the central crutch assembly for example - that is something only a modeller would have come up with. It's better to have a larger single peice to cement into place, than have to faff around with two tiny clear pieces that can easily rocket off out of the tweezers and into hyperspace never to be seen again! We as modellers know this, but a designer who doesn't build models may not. The way in which this product has been designed reminds me of Special Hobby kits. If I hadn't already built an Airfix 24 scale Hurricane I would be sorely tempted to ask Santa for one of these kits. Hopefully Revell will follow up with perhaps something like a TA152H-1, Fw190A-8 or even a Zero. I think, in this engineering and design format they will sell well! I could'nt believe when I saw a review recently of this kit Paul the reviewer complained the kit had to few parts, and although there was nothing wrong with the product, he kept bemoaning the lack of 400 parts and a motor! Honestly Paul, sometimes I am ashamed to be English (albeit an Englishman living on the other side of the world!). I am terminally Ill Paul with a degenerative Brain disease that is destroying my nervous system and my internal organs at pretty much the same time, which makes building the more complicated kits out of the question for me. This layout is perfect for modellers in my boat (even older modellers or those new to the hobby.) Anyway Paul, you are really bringing out the best in this product - I look forward to following you as you progress! All the best, Dennis.
Thanks for all those great words! I am sorry to hear about your illness. My God be with you.
Good morning Dennis, sorry about your illness thst sounds to be really shitty, I do hope you are not finding modelling too difficult as modelling would let get into a different zone and you will then be able to be your old self while working on your kits, best regards from an overcast Melbourne, and and ex Christchurch lad, Les
@@lesthiele4921 Good Afternoon Les, Sometimes my medical condition will not allow me to do any modelling. The last few days have been rough, my body has literally shut down completely twice in the last four days, which means no time at the bench. Still, the bed is right there next to my work bench so I can at least see what I am doing, and models also hang from the ceiling. What's happening to me is just life Les; I accept my fate and just get on doing what I can. I really like listening to Paul, his voice is so relaxing, and he does a great job of his projects. He is also honest, and just a nice chap, which I don't think I could say of some of these modellers on You Tube! Thanks Mate for the message, all the best! Dennis. P.S. I think you did the best thing moving across the ditch Les...things are not that great here any more!!
Looking good!
Thank you.
Lol I ordered a kit off Amazon last month and it came in a diaper box.
At least it came in a box.
@@paulsmodels The neighbors got a kick out of the jumbo box of adult diapers, especially when I pulled out the 1/72 Hornet and a couple Vallejo paints lol.
I've had a computer motherboard delivered from Amazon in the exact same way. The packing looked as though it'd been run over by a forklift and was rather "rattly" upon receipt. Suffice to say when opened it was basically a bare circuit board and heap of loose electronics components just floating around. It was absurd to the point where I was too busy laughing to be mad about it. They did promptly send a replacement.
The strange world of shipping...
What a crappy shipping job Amazon!
Yes indeed!
Wasn't Amazon's shitty job, it was the seller's fault. Amazon doesn't tell people how to ship people's purchases. Be fair, guys.
@@GRAYR189 I am aware it was the sellers fault, I even said so in the video. And as I also said I will not be ordering from that seller again. There's no excuse for shipping it like that.
I will not argue that. absolutely inexcusable. you would think the sellers could get tips on how to ship things. such as: put model kits inside larger friggin boxes and cushion them with some sort of packing. like all the model kits I've gotten off eBay have been packaged and shipped.
Good Afternoon Paul from a Sunny Stratford, New Zealand! Thankyou for your presentation of this product. It's really positive to see Revell have put out a kit that looks detailed, relatively easy to construct with few parts that will look like a Hurricane when finished. I like what you have done in the cockpit. Shame there is no harness, but I guess you can't have everything. I'm looking forward to seeing where you go from here. All the best!, Dennis
Thanks for the nice comments Dennis. So far this kit is coming together well. No serious fit issues, and nice detail. No harness with it but there are aftermarket parts for this kit.
Hi Paul, that was so e pretty shitty postage packaging lack of it, the cockpit is looking great, well done on the first stage of the build, best regards from Melbourne Australia, Les
Yeah. I've never had a model delivered like this was. Thanks.

Hi Paul, the B-25 looks absolutely outstanding, the paint finish I s done to perfection, best regards from Australia, Les
Thanks Les! We got some rain here in N. California. Winter is on it's way.

Turned out well, Paul! What’s next? Take care! Drew
Thanks Drew! I'm going to start on the Revell 1/32 Hawker Hurricane or the Takom 1/350 Sachsen-Class Frigate, and at the same time, I'm going to start up working where I left off on the 1/200 Yamato that has been collecting dust in my closet.
Nice work on the gaps!
Thanks. They didn't come out perfect, but then not much does on an old kit like this.
Looking good! The engine to wing fit is awful on that kit; you did a great job dealing with it.
Thanks! Yeah, no kidding on those fit issues. I pretty much expected fit issues when I started this old kit. It's all part of the fun. 😂
Please tell me what is the most valuable model in your collection, I don't mean in monetary value, but in terms of what is valuable to your heart and soul.
Wow. I've never had anyone ask me this. I have several models that are my favorites. The 1/48 scale Revell PBY comes to mind, as does the Tamiya 1/350 USS Missouri I built a few years back. I also built the Trumpeter 1/200 scale HMS Nelson, and the MIkasa in the same scale. Thanks for asking.
Hi Paul, the B-25 is looking great, there does appear to be a few fit issues ie 'the step' on top, but the that is what they made modelling putty for, looking forward to the painting video, bedt regards from Australia, Les
Thank you Les. Yep, modeling putty is sure nice to have when making these old kits! Looks like fall weather is finally coming to N. California.
Hi Paul, this looks like it will be a excellent build, I have always liked the look of the B-25, hope the build goes well, bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Thanks Les! I hope it goes well also.
Nice clean model, I like it. Yellow is always a problematic colour to paint. With bright colours like that apply a coat of white first and your results will be much better.
Thanks!

Thanks!
Looking forward to seeing how this goes together!
Thanks! It'll be fun I think.
Looks Great! Nice job. I have had mine in my stash for years and still have not built it yet... maybe after watching this series I will
Thank you! You should build it. The canopy was the only tricky part, the rest was easy and fun.
Great looking build Paul! And yes, someone does make a mask set for the canopy. I forgot the name of the company.
Thanks! I made my own masks, but it still came out kind of sloppy for the canopy. Oh well, it was a learning experience.
Great work on cockpit, very nice details, what was your decision? Used decall or else?
Thank you!
Really nice and clean build, Paul! I really enjoyed this kit too. I wonder if Eduard makes a canopy mask set for this kit 🤔? May have to do another one. Keep building! Drew
