So I've been to the ends of the earth now and didn't fall off! Antarctica in January and now Svalbard in May. Whilst Svalbard is very nice, Antarctica is absolutely stunning.

Visited the Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird World. The walk through the Bird World is far to quick to really appreciate the variety of birds in the enclosures. The grounds are a great place to relax and have a picnic.

Walk around BA. I found it a very clean place and safe. Beautiful old buildings built when Argentina was a wealthy country.

Human Occupied: 3 Feb 1944 - 5 Dec 1967 & 4 Dec 1968 - 23 Feb 1969 The station was evacuated temporarily on 5 Dec 1967 after volcanic eruptions. It was evacuated again on 21 Feb 1969 when further eruptions damaged the station buildings. The station was finally abandoned on 23 Feb 1969

Weddell Seals and Adélie Penguin The Adélie penguin got it's name from the French Antarctic explorer, Jules Dumont d'Urville. On discovering these sea birds in 1840 he decided to name them after his beloved wife - Adéle.
