I own a 1998 S70 non turbo with 242k miles...burns no oil, transmission shifts perfectly...I bought it from the grandson of the original owner in June 2020...I've done a lot of work to it from wheel bearings, heater core, alternator, starter, inner and outer tie rods, front struts, timing belt, all the motor mounts and more......all in all a great car..

My 1981 245 Volvo was destroyed on 10/1992 on US 101 in San Mateo, CA, missed it terribly...3 years later wagon was replaced by 1995 850 Volvo sedan, had immediate problems with a Volvo that was very low for an individual whose left knee had to be replaced within a few years...kept driving 1979 Volvo instead...2006 bought a 1999 Volvo wagon and none of the excellent Volvo dealership mechanics in the SF greater BAY AREA in California could advise me that the transmission was going out, plus the dash board plastic holdings melted and could not be replaced---noise was inexcusable...hood thing I kept the 1989 244 Volvo sedan (bought in 5/2001 with 145K miles, automatic overdrive) 2/2011 moved from Berkeley to Motherlode area of Norther California & one Volvo dealership within 120 miles, Volvo repair book became my bible of all bibles, learned to order parts and today valves are in excellent condition --262,400 miles, repainted car, installed oil pan(beautiful new RED BRICK ) entire suspension replaced plus right rear axle (4 times since 2013) and many more parts; present mileage per gallon 29 miles on Calif. Highway 49...glad I gave up looking for Volvo # 9, on May 23, 2024!...yes, I still miss my 1981 forest green 245 Volvo wsgon. Thank you very much for the great stories, pictures always.😮😮❤

Good work, but why are the titles always different than the contents? I get the impression that you are dumping these fine cars for rock-bottom prices. Unless they have some major problems or a long list of small problems, given how nice they look, you should be getting quite a bit more, judging by current used prices….lastly, you likely know that the ancestors of the S90 are the 900 series and the 700 series, not the 240.

If someone is in need, a much much much better choice is an older Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic. I would never donate a 1990s Volvo to somebody without the means to buy and operate it because they need a lot of ongoing work to keep them going. If someone can‘t afford to pay $2500 for this vehicle, they certainly can’t afford to maintain it. Unless the donee does most of their own work and knows Volvos this nice old car won‘t last too long.

I prefer the factory alloys…R wheels are ok. Otherwise in good shape! $2900 is dirt cheap would go for more in Canada in this condition.

It is a light pressure turbo, not normally aspirated. "They are all 2.3 or 2.4 liters..." shows you don't know the difference. The 2.3 liter are high pressure turbos. The paint on that car has some significant flaws you didn't mention, and you didn't show the condition of the driver's seat. Not surprising since it isn't good.

I have a '05 also. My tranny took a shit also. Had it rebuilt. Have had no serious issues other than that. Mine is dark grey. I really love that car.
