Hello Booklovers! I had to fight for my life to edit this vlog. For some reason it was just being a big pain in my butt, so I apologize if there are any issues with it. Fingers crossed its nothing too bad...I already rewatched and exported it a few times and at this point I'm just ready to be done with it lol
But I still hope you enjoy it!!

Glad that your last reading month of the year was so good after your slumpy months! I hope that you are feeling better/have recovered from your sickness, though 😢 I feel like I read nothing in Dec because I had such bad Arcane brainrot 😂 But I did read 10 things! Mostly on the shorter side but no last minute new faves.
I can't seem to fully kick this cough, but otherwise I'm feeling great! 10 is a great number, especially if you were also distracted by your TV show.
Girl I don't know where you find some of these absolutely wild-sounding books, but I can't wait to hear your takes on the ones you end up reading.
@@wtfRJK lol I don’t know where I found them either 😬
I read A Stange and Stubborn Endurance in December and I think it might be one of my faves of the year!
@@annalisaslibrary I’ve seen others put this series on their fav lists, so I’ve recently added it to my TBR!
Yay for continuing several series!! I hope that you enjoy all of them 😊 I'm hoping to read a bunch of KU books that aren't available at my library while I have my subscription!
Lots of great KU books our there for you to enjoy, hope you have time to get through a bunch of them!
Lots of sci-fi to kick off the new year. Hope you enjoy your reads!!
Thank you :)
Happy New Year. I hope you enjoy your reads.
Happy New Year!
🥂📚🌈
I love the bingo aspect of your goals. 🎉
My TBR pile it's bigger, because I have almost the same number of physical and digital books, but the goal is the same: getting lower numbers by the end of the year. But it will take me longer, because my average reading per year its 70 and thats almost the number of books I buy every year... I know... dont judge me... I also read a lot of books with queer and disability representation 💪🏻
Thats a great goal! I hope you are able to achieve it, but not buying books is hard...its just so fun!!
Omg don’t feel bad if you end up not vibing with It Happened One Summer! No pressure here!
Awww thanks! I'll try not to let the guilt eat me alive lol
Yay, a Monday video!! I read the Sherman Alexie book as a 10th grader cause it was my friend's favorite book. It is definitely young adult, and from the point of view of a teenage boy so there is him talking about girls in it, but i still remember stuff from it so it must've had some effect on me. I want to try out a "100 prompts" reading challenge for next year, but I am also a little worried that I will read less than I did this year because this year was an extreme outlier in terms of the number I've read. But I think I'll still try it out for fun and see where I get 😊 Hope you have a great holiday!
That sounds like a fun challenge :)
I was checking my stats and was SHOCKED to see I had finished 4 books. But that was because I read 3 of them before watching Arcane, and the 4th one was a quick comic book. But I didn't read for 6 (non-consecutive) days in the first half of the month because of that show 😅 I'm finally got back into it this week and have 4 criminal intentions books to go for season 1! I am hoping to finish those before the end of the month so 🤞🤞 But I've also been doing a lot of writing- juggling multiple hobbies is hard 😭- so I'm glad for my vacation next week. Love the krampus shirt and looking forward to your other vlogs! You're already so close to your bingo goal!!!
@@Lan.. multiple hobbies can be hard to juggle, I sometimes wonder how many books I could read if I didn’t have to spend time filming and editing 🧐 but as long as I still enjoy it, I’m going to keep doing it!
@natcatsbookishcafe3799 Yeah, I'm always in awe of people who work full time and do youtube. It's a real commitment, but as long as you're getting enjoyment out of it that's good!
Yay, glad you were able to wrap up season 1 of criminal intentions! The advent calendar guys lowkey look like one of those knock-off calendars instead of an official one 😭 Aww, Tofu has grown up and is a big boy now! But yeah, closed doors are a cat's worst enemy, the way my cat will scream if there is somewhere he cannot access smh. When it comes to peanuts, the only ones I eat are the old fashioned blister peanuts from trader joe's while my mom just gets the huge tin containers of them from costco lol Aww, I'm sorry your supervisor is leaving. I hope that the temporary one is nice or just lets yall do your thing. It's sweet of you to get her a card and gift ☺Loved your little hauls this video, too! Ruby Dixon is the favorite romance author of one of my friends. She says that she has pretty good world building in her stories! We don't decorate the house much for Christmas, but I do have a small fake tree with IKEA lights in my office I keep my birthday presents under (I think I got more of the Monstrous series books from my friend ahhHH I'm so excited to continue it!!). My cat knocked it over and got stuck in the lights 2 years back and he hasn't bothered it since so I'm glad for that. All the decorations that you have on your shelf and around the house are really cute!
@@Lan.. that’s exciting to hear about Ruby Dixon 🤩. Ya, I’d say the advent calendar is definitely a knock off lol 😅 hope you get those monstress books and that you have time to read them soon!
📚💚💙
Remote login is down at my work so this was nice to watch while waiting for it to come back online :D I only recognized 3 of the books outside of the rereads- but the wheel selected 2 of them! Tea Dragon Society is very cute and I love the art. I read a different book by Allie Therin in that same world and since I know you like urban fantasy I think you will enjoy that one, too. I have A Taste of Gold and Iron on my TBR as well- bought it at the PDX Book Fest last month and I've only heard good things!
@@Lan.. hopefully I enjoy spellbound and then I’ll for sure have to check out more of her stuff!! I’m really excited to get into the Tea Dragon Society, it seems so cute 🥰
You’ve made me a lot more intrigued to get to Bury Your Gays! I’m glad you liked Night of the Mannequins as well!
@@NerdyNatReads I hope you get to Bury Your Gays and enjoy it!
Quick comment cause my brain has been unable to properly function since watching arcane season 2 last week, but I hope you enjoy all your re-reads! I have 2 series I loved in middle school I'm hoping to re-read next year 😊
@@Lan.. I’ve been seeing that show everywhere. Guess I’ll have to find time to watch it. Currently making my way very slowly through Alice in Boarderland :)
@natcatsbookishcafe3799 You'll hear this from everyone, but it is the most stunningly beautifully animated series I've ever seen. It's one of those few times where the high cost of making the show is completely justified, and you can actually see where all the money went. Highly recommend.
@@Lan.. I'll move to the top of my watch list!
I'm a little behind on youtube, clearly, but I wanted to leave a comment all the same. I'm a seasonal mood reader who likes to have a TBR: so this month I'm focusing on finishing books I started but didn't finish, reading at least one Christmas themed book, and otherwise I want to keep moving forward in series I have started. I hope you have a fun reading month!
As someone who is watching videos from back in September, I know all about being behind lol. Moving forward in series is smart and definitely something I need to focus on next year!! Have a great reading month as well :)
I am hoping to get to The Bear and the Nightengale early next year. Looks like a fun month. I hope you enjoy your reads.
I to am hoping to get that book on my TBR in Jan or Feb. Fingers crossed we both get around to doing so! Thank you and enjoy your reading month as well!
Hi
The holiday messed up my schedule so much I was confused why there was a video "a day early" from you. Took me a hot minute to remember, no, you've always posted on Fridays 😅 The game really gave you a pretty well rounded picks in terms of genre! Good thing there was no knock out rules this month, though, that would've been devastating! Maybe before your next TBR game you could go through all your prompts and remove any more ones that you don't really like 🙂 Glad you were able to get Crisped + Sere & the rest of Criminal Intentions on it the board! Loki popping his head out from under the bed once the treats were out was so cute and funny 😍Also, for a second I thought the treat jar was labelled "Tofood". I've heard good things about Trick Shot and Providence Girls, hope you enjoy them! I *did* have reading plans for the rest of the year, but then Amazon decided to have a "3 months of KU for $0.99" deal so my plans flew out the window & straight into the bottom of the ocean. BUT I'M FINALLY READING CRIMINAL INTENTIONS!!! WHOOOO!!!! I finished book 4 yesterday and AHHHHHH. I wanted to ask if it was okay to message you about them because I want to talk about them with someone but don't want to unintentionally cross a line or make you uncomfortable! 🫂
Hi Lan! If I remember I need to go through my prompts before the end of the year and throw out some I don't like, as well as add some new ones I've picked up over the year :) So exciting you are reading Criminal Intentions. I just started Part 1 of the final two yesterday! Of course you can message me. I will say I suck at checking discord, but if I know your writing me there I'll make sure I check it more often :) I'm always on insta though lol Glad to hear that Trick Shot and Providence Girls have good reviews!
I love travel vlogs! So many amazing views, great video!!
omg such a big unhaul 😍
What a lovely trip and unique experiences you got to have! Glad you had such a good time out there with your friend, and hoping for even more of these fun experiences and trips for you!
I think is a really achievable winter tbr! I've only heard of Atlas Six and Phantom, I hope that you have a good time with all of them! The Phantom + retellings sounds like it'll be a fun vlog 😊 I never pay attention to seasons in books (I will read holiday romances in random months lol) so can't really think of a 'wintery' book outside of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe 😂 I did put together a "challenge books" list inspired by you for next year, though! It only have 5 books on it so I'm hoping to finish at least 1 every 2 months. Seeing how much you ended up enjoying the majority of your challenge reads really pushed me to try it out myself!
Thats amazing! I hope you have fun with your challenge books :) I'll be doing it again next year and am looking forward to the video where I chose them, but that wont happen till next month.
I'm glad to see all the book people I follow be really vocal after this election. I've been doing my best not to despair and remind myself that minority groups have continued to live and persist and be happy despite the many attempts to stop them... Doesn't mean we shouldn't continue fighting and helping. But yeah. Especially with the weather change it's definitely been hard to feel any positive emotions lately 😢 I got to see Stephen Graham Jones at the book event I went to and he seemed like a pretty cool guy! I've only read I Was A Teenage Slasher from him so far but hoping to get to more in the future. Good to hear that Godkiller is book that lives up to the hype! I had a pretty good reading month, hard to pick a favorite. Alice Isn't Dead by Joseph Fink, He Completes Me by Cardeno C (a romance without a silly 3rd act breakup!!), and Supermutant Magic Academy by Jillian Tamako were all books I loved this month. My least favorite was a queer high fantasy by an indie author so I don't want to mention the title. It just reiterated to me that even if it's queer high fantasy just doesn't work well with my brain 😭
Also, no shame in not getting to a lot of books or feeling slumpy. It really was quality over quantity in this one, but even if it wasn't, that's still okay.
A lot of people that I follow in insta have been talking about it. I haven't seen enough recent videos here on UA-cam to hear much from these people, but I'm hoping they speak up as well! We will certainly continue to love and support minorities groups :) Glad you also had a great reading month! High fantasy can be intimidating, which is probably why I haven't dived too deep into that genre yet.
Voting is officially done: I'll be reading The Great Displacement :)
(Belayed) Congratulations on finishing your Orillium TBR! Thank you for being so diligent and posting all the vlogs for us! I loved the thumbnail for this video :D I am definitely guilty of going on Zillow and putting in parameters for a house I would like and looking at what's around me with no expectation of ever being able to become a homeowner😅 Some of the 'fancy' houses really make me go "Ok, but do they actually use that room/special feature? And how often?" sometimes, though. I also love watching house tour videos just to see how everyone sets their stuff up, it's fun and gives me ideas of how to utilize my spaces ☺ When my cat was a kitten, he also slept in some of the strangest positions. I'm assuming kittens are more flexible than adult cats so having their legs whichever way is still comfortable 🤣 I'm so glad that you got to replace Sinner with a book you'd been looking forward to and enjoyed so much! Lowkey, if I had known, I would've picked the sequel to Withered + Sere as one of the books I sent 😭 Maybe next time lol
@@Lan.. I’ve never heard of house tour videos but now that I do…you may have just introduced me to my new obsession lol 😂 I ended up getting the sequel a few days ago in hopes I’ll be able to get it on my December TBR 🤞🏽
@@natcatsbookishcafe3799 Ooo, I hope you're able to get it on your December TBR, too! I will say, tiny house/apartment tours are probably my favorite to watch cause I like all the space saving methods, but artists' homes are also quite fun.
Your nonfiction looks in this video all sound very interesting!
I want to vote for The Great Displacement if I'm not too late :)
I hope that you have fun with all of your plans this month! Having themed TBR's is just as fun as TBR games :D I've heard that RF Kuang was a bit heavy handed with her messaging in Babel and Yellowface so I've personally never been interested in her stuff. A friend of mine absolutely LOVES the Scholomancy series and recommended it to me years ago but I still haven't gotten around to it 😅 I have The Luminous Dead on my library TBR and want to read it so bad but I'm trying to focus on my physical TBR for the rest of the year 😭 Space is truly such a great setting for horror across all types of media. You're welcome for the books! I just hope that you have a great time with them 🤎 I'm not a big non-fiction reader so I rolled a dice for my vote and got Prey. Also FYI they just opened up a romance bookstore in downtown Portland called Grand Gestures, so if you're ever there that could be a fun place to check out! I peeked in today after the Portland Book Fest, it's a neat little space.
@@Lan.. I’ll have to check it out next time I visit my friend in Vancouver 😊
@@natcatsbookishcafe3799 Ohmygosh i forgot to mention how much i love the sweater you're wearing in this video! It's super cute!
@@Lan.. Thank you! I've gotten a lot of complement while wearing it. I got it here: www.embroideryartus.com/
My vote is for The Great Displacement. Though they all sound interesting. I hope your reads go well. Have a great month.
Thank you 😁
Here’s some ideas for prompts For your jar for the future if Want to add them in the future 1. S.H.A.Z.A.M look the up Shazam and pick one of characters that captain marvel or Mary marvel get there powers and find a book about that character or character with similar personality. 2. Ronin or wondering cowboy Read a book staring a ronin samurai or a western with wondering hero . 3. Elementary my dear Watson : Read a Sherlock Holmes story but not one by the original creator . 4. Life of a masked man . Read a book that is either a biography of masked pro wrestler example the grappler or a masked hero like the phantom. 5. Pulp it up Read a pulp magazine reprint or marvel pulp graphic novel .
10:35 are those... Frog 🐸 sounds?
Lol Yes, they are loving the wet weather here
I didn't like Babel and are those frog sounds in the background? Not upset, just wondering. 🦃🥧🎉 Happy Birthday! I vote The Great Displacement.
Sorry to hear you didn't like it :( and yes those are frogs! They are so loud sometimes you start to wonder if they got in the house somehow lol. Thank you for the birthday wish 🥰
I saw Keep This To Yourself on the main library display this week! I couldn't remember if you had liked it or not so I left it there, but it was cool to see it featured. Also, no need to apologize about long vlogs! I know tons of people who love watching longer videos, they are in no way a deterrent to watching 😁 Love that you made a recipe from the comic- did it at least taste good? hehe So awesome that your copy of Compound Fracture was signed! Totally get you on the cold weather. The first day we had to turn the heat on in the house, our cat started sleeping next to the heater again haha, had to move his bed back over. I was able to convince a friend to come to Silent Book Club with me for this month's meeting, which was fun. The one I'm in is pretty quiet and mostly read, not a lot of chit chat, but I've heard that others are a bit more chatty. We meet in the library so maybe that's why 😊 I joined a readathon for the first time (bucket list-athon by danni dabbles) and am hoping I am able to read all the books I picked for it haha. I got through 2 and then a library hold came in so... maybe in a few days I'll be back on track with that one lol
Have the silent book club in the library would be fun! We often have it at local restaurants/pubs and the people can be pretty chatty which is a little intimidating. Glad a friend went with you! The soup tasted pretty good despite me burning the leeks a little, so worth making! Good luck with your readathon!
Gotta have a culling of the shelves to make room for new favorites! I just put a bunch of books in little free libraries around my neighborhood today as well! No hard feels at all for unhauling a gifted book! They are gifts, meaning they are yours to do with what you wish 😊 Speaking of, though, iirc Nov is your birthday month? I'd love to get you whichever books you still need for criminal intentions season 1!
I'm sure your neighbors appreciate that! Awww that's sweet💖. I just put the final book (Crescendo) into my amazon wish list. I can't believe I'm on the final book! I've been on such a journey with these characters 😍
@@natcatsbookishcafe3799 I checked the series just in case and I'm glad I did cause it looks like Crescendo is not the last book! There's 2 more: Hatters Game part 1 and Hatters Game part 2- could you add those, too?
@@Lan.. Oh you're right! That's exciting :) The more the merrier!!
@@natcatsbookishcafe3799 Estimate arrival is October 27th! If you want to wait to open it in November/on your actual birth date feel free 👍
@@Lan.. Thank you Lan, you’re too generous 💖
I love unhauls, especially the big ones :- D The comments while unhauling Don Quixote 😆 Work For It is on my TBR, I really want to go through Talia Hibbert's backlist after loving The Brown Sisters series.
I need to read more Talia Hibbert as well, really like her stuff :)
Natalie! This clip where you’re fighting the sun shadows is really showing off your eyes! Are they hazel? So pretty 😍 Also, I feel like I would cry during the Traveling Cat Chronicles too and loved to hear that it potentially has some autism rep!
@@Bookchara awww 🥰 thank you. They are hazel. You ghouls definitely read the book some day!
I liked this style of wrapup! Less repeated information/plots for you to remember and there's some build up for "ooo what were the top books??" 😁 The plot of Sinner really sounded 😬 Like, okay girl, I think you should take two minutes to reconsider your path of becoming a nun 😅 My Sept reading was not great, but I got to spark up a ton of conversations with friends while reading Dracula so I'd say that's still a win 👍
A buddy read is always fun! Hopefully you're overall reading is better this month.
Yay, always love a bonus Monday video ❤ It looks like you chugged along quite well for week 2! Glad you got some nice self care/relaxation time in for yourself as well. Cat chronicles sounds so cute I might have to pick it up! As someone who struggles to fall asleep, I recently learned the "Cognitive Shuffle" method, which has been working fairly well for me (unless I am in anxiety-induced thought spirals). I have tried so many sleeping techniques and it's the only one that has had any lasting effectiveness! I was complaining to my dad that stores are going to eventually carry every holiday's themed items all year round at this point, it's crazy how much earlier we get holiday ads/products every year 🙄
I think I used a sleep meditation audio for a while that used cognitive shuffle along with a few other techniques; it would have me visualize a candle flame or something simple like that. You should definitely read The Travelling Cat Chronicles! I'm already making my mom read it so she can suffer with me lol. I agree they put decorations out too early. Me and my mom went to one of our favorite stores up here at the start of October and they were already transitioning to Christmas! Like you always have to buy decorations a month or two in advance 😅.
I’m working on collection of Japanese legends form last month I’ve only one book left from last months TBR as I just finished goosebumps welcome to dead house. I’m also working on for this months TBR zombie loan vol.1 a manga . And a young Indiana jones book titanic adventure . I also finished a audiobook KOLCHACK the nightstalker the first book of the KOLCHACK series . The movies differ the universal Frankenstein movies follow the monster The hammer horror movies Frankenstein tend focus more on Dr. Frankenstein. Also universal did a series of comedy movies starring the comedy Abbott and Costello where the meet the unvseral monsters Also of you want a historical comedy there is Abbott and Costello meets Captain kidd which I think connected with a black white movie called Captain kidd .
I would like to read The Taking of Jake Livingston!
The Very Secret Society is a delight. ✨
If it makes feel better I choose to do 5 rolls for Spookoplathon and ended with 9 (4 doubles), yeah ! I have read Frankenstein and it is well written but the main character is so whiny that I ended up so annoyed at the book. I have dnfed The Unbroken too (I found it too vulgar in the writing style at some points but the world building was well done) I also dnfed Godkiller 😓. I'm really interested by The Reformatory though. Oh and I tried your random word generator out of curiosity and ended up with "sex" somehow 😂😂😂
@@ellyra412 yikes the game is mean! I’m not a big fan of overly vulgar writing so hopefully it doesn’t turn me off too much 🙃. I would rather have had the word sex and read a romance than accountant lol 😂
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna was a wonderful book and I thoroughly loved it. I am thinking about doing TBR Harvest and Spookopolothon, but I haven't yet decided.
@@Starrysong glad to hear you had such a great time with the book 💜
