Scott’s Tool Thoughts

I'm an A/V- Low volt contractor. I love tools, and I like to be organized and efficient. If a tool makes my job easier, I'll own it! It's got to be quality, though.

Thanks had it a month love mine
It's so much more valuable to hear from a guy with years of experience. Thx.
My Pleasure!
2 years have passed. Is it still holding up good?
It’s holding up VERY well
Best for BNC connectors?
Unknown, My Friend. I bought it, then it got put into a secondary toolbox. I hardly ever use it.
Great video im a Critical power engineer so require both electrical and mechanical tools and meter's. I noticed that you dont use the velocity bag as a backpack. Any reason why?
Home Depot Canada has it for $300.00 sorry too pricey!!!
As @PrimeToolbox mentioned, I too went with Japanese. I run the Tsunoda KBN-150 Cable Tie Cutter. They have a nice area to pull the zip tie and do a perfect fluch cuts. As always, ymmv.
@@gentleimpact3580 You mean these? 🤓🤓 ua-cam.com/video/tGHxADd1eLc/v-deo.htmlsi=7KyRJ-B6Grr-Uqyl
I wouldnt want auto off. What if it takes forever to find a wire and it shuts off when youre still hunting? No thanks. I have a fox and hound that changes tone when the leads are shorted. Its ok but you can just do the same thing with the tempo, just listen for cut out tone instead of changed tone.
@@Henry_Jones Only the Wand has the auto off feature.
Looking forward to see how it performs. 😃👍
@@ScoutCrafter Me Too!
I have had the same problem with klien. Tried exchanging multiple pair and they were all like that
Hello Scott! Excellent review as always. Imagine if Klein Koats came in Yellow, Blue, Green, Orange…. 😂👍
@@ScoutCrafter thank you sir! I would absolutely love that if the Klein Koats came in all those colors!
Interesting, the Japanese brand 3.Peaks have some pliers with this feature, but they are more targeted to electronics working.
@@PrimeToolbox Good to know!
Thanks for the helpful review.
Excellent review! Thanks for sharing!!!!
@@johnagen3688 My Pleasure!
Yep, something is wrong with their knife heat treatment Definitely not victorinox My Leatherman micra blade had decidedly noticeable edge damage after cutting cardboard, and one plastic camshell If it can't handle plastic camshell then ... Suffice to say I don't carry LM anymore
I like veto but velocity is better I do agree.
There deffo Metallica fans. The snake logo from the black album and “don’t tread on me” is a track from the black album !
@@ryandavies5014 No Dawg. That’s the Gadsden flag. It predates Metallica by about 200 years.
How has it held up over the last two years? Is it sturdy enough to bust off whatever you need to bust off?
Can’t find this bag anywhere for purchase.
Reach out to Velocity. They’ll quote you a shipping cost
How’s this bag holding up, because I can’t find it on their website for purchase so I’m wondering if they had issues with it
@@TheCherokeeKidd I’ve had zero issues with it. It is holding up extremely well, loaded down heavily with tools.
@@scottstoolthoughts3190 that’s good to know I’m just curious why it’s been taken off the market, cause I want one now after watching your video. Got a veto now and would like to upgrade to that service bag.
@@TheCherokeeKidd velocityprogear.com/products/rogue-9-0-service-bag
@@scottstoolthoughts3190 I appreciate that but when I click the link is takes me to their webpage and gives me a 404 page not found error message
Can you use this for formwork i do alot prying
No idea, My Friend. I’m not a carpenter in any way. I just bought it to support the charity on the handle. It is a very stout hammer with a hickory handle.
@scottstoolthoughts3190 I was wondering cuz I'm trying to replace my martinez m1 that got stolen at work
See if you'res still works I pulled mine out of the truck hot truck and it didn't come on the switch was definitely off I changed the battery I checked the power to the switch inside the unit seems like the IC chip that regulates the power may be gone but I didn't do any further checking are these susceptible to heat
Mine is fully functional
What was the green thing with your electrical tape?
It’s called “Tadpole Tape Cutter”
I just tend to use a small terminal driver like yourself. Just something else to charge
Will it help the old ladder Let’s see
No. Once they “bloom” , you have to sand them down and coat them.
Just bought 4 on amazon for $3.99 each. I am going to find and store every loose bit in my garage.
EXCELLENT My Friend!
I wonder what you think about Fluid Film?
Thank you for your service 2
Thank You, My Friend!
This bag is ready for war great set up
I would have said i do a little bit of everything but obviously I was wrong, i dont do much low voltage. LOL . But I have to say this is a GREAT bag tour. imho the best on youtube. Your experience shines through.
Thank You, My Friend
hi
Nothing a pair of linemen's or duckbill pliers and a flush cutter wouldn't do, but it does save you from carrying an extra tool.
Where did you get the eye wear protective case? Thank you in advance.

Hey its been 4 years. how did the Orbis turn out? just as good as Knipex?
Not for my purposes, no. See Orbis FAIL video. Thanks!
Overpriced
So don’t buy it. 🤷
@@scottstoolthoughts3190 overpriced 👎🏿
What hammer is that?
Wiha Electricians Hammer
Its made by Veto
I figured.
What is vetos version of this
@@digitaldownshifts5199 Somewhere between a Tech LC and Tech XL by the looks of it
Great setup, Scott and nice tour! Appreciated.
Thank You My Friend!
I have a brondo sticker in my tool trailer too!
Awesome!
@@scottstoolthoughts3190 I like your setup. I can tell you have put a lot of time in your organization. I work 4 guys out of my big trailer. I do interior trim carpentry. Most people don't realize how important organization is. If my stuff isn't put back where it goes, there is no space to turn around.
@@briancorboy1042 I agree! I always say “OEM”-- Organization = Efficiency = Money
Good ideas there I got a suburban to fit out for a worker and had alor of the same ideas. Good to see it in a video 👍
Was waiting for another van tour, this looks nice. My relatives have that same model Mercedes mini van for their service vehicle as well.
Nice!!
Another good video. No vacumn, though? I guess the broom will work with limited space.
Actually there are 2 vacuums on board. A small Shark “Dustbuster type stored behind the Velocity Service Bag, And a Milwaukee M18 type in the red bag that’s in the power tool drawer. Thanks for watching, My Friend!
Nice set up 👍👍
Thanks Man!
Will the pipe wrenches fit there
I have no idea. I don’t use pipe wrenches, so I have no way to know.
Where is the zip tie holder from?
This has not changed. I just got a Curl that was unusable out of the box. Leatherman sent me a shipping label for warranty work. I was surprised how quickly my Curl was returned. And it was worse than when I sent it in. Come to find out, they did nothing - just sent me a new Curl, which tells me they all come from the factory in rough shape. My next move is the torx bits. Sad.
Love that little knee pad, where did you get that? I have knee problems and done want to carry a full block or knee pads
a.co/d/gLZl81p
Where did you find the engineer branded screw-extracting linemans with the dipped green grips? I've only seen the dipped grips on the vampliers branded ones.
