Love this song and I appreciate it very highly appreciated your version of the song I been dealing with so long as I Can remember the pain and feel pains in the position of my heart for the first time I have been there and it was very hard to make it to my life and I am very thankful for you're times of comfort in my life with you're songs that helped me out and I hope that you will be able to enjoy the holidays and hope you are having a good time in your life and doing well

I did an experiment with my father, who likes John Lennon but doesn't like Marilyn Manson so much. I sent him this song because Manson sang it. He was against this song. But then I showed him it was originally by Lennon and I said that Lennon and Manson share that same message.

Lee Haslam surely you can appreciate that there are those of us who like MM We like his raspy voice We like that he only sings a song if it has meaning and artistic merit I like John singing it also But as was commented above After a Shot day or my case Night of slaving away for a corporate entity to put food in the fridge and clothes on my kids backs i like to kick back cracking open a cold beer pump This version loud It helps focus the mind and give me the strength to keep fighting through the shot and keep my end goals in view

When they've tortured and scared you for 20 odd years... and then they expect you to pick a career. But you can't really function, you're so full of fear. No matter which version is best, this is a very poignant song. I just happen to appreciate this version over all the other ones out there.

I agree 1000pct. First off I have to say I don't expect anyone to give a goddamn about what I am going to say, there is no reason to care so I am not saying this shit for positive vibes or whatever I just have to fucking vent! The part "they've tortured and scared u for 20 odd years.. sheees that hits so much deeper than when Lennon said it. I have worked for my parents family run business since I was 7 but I started full time at 17 once I graduated. My dad beat the shit out of me when I was a kid, my first memory as a child was dad telling me to go pick up a piece of water hose in the yard knowing he would be me, my second memory was I can't fight back physically so I refused to cry which made things worse. This happened from 5-9 years old. He never told me why i was getting beat, I wasn't in trouble he just hated me. Beat me with water hoses, belts, switches, coat hanger, pvc pipe and made sure to hit me on my lower back so if the principle whipped me he wouldn't see the marks. My mom was a saint, the best person I've ever know but they worked different shifts and I never snitched on my dad. My mom "my safe place" passed Dec 29th 2020. Shit has gotten so much worse without her. So I have worked for the family business all of my life 2 weeks ago dad said he was going to give me 15 pct share of the businesses then this past Friday he almost fired me. Then asked why my dreams were what did I want go to do " he has never asked me that" today be called me worthless. So the words " they tortured and scared u for 20 odd years, then they expect to pick career.. but u can't really function your so full of fear.
