The outside lock on this Andersen Windows patio door lock turns and turns and it's hard to tell when it is already unlocked. The August app on Apple has a battery indicator, the Android version does not. Batteries last a very long time and do not freeze because they are indoors. We have never had a lockout, and can tell when the lock does not have as much power before it is at the point of replacement in the Apple version of the app.

Thanks for asking! This video was about the engineering of a custom solution that works for this particular door /lock /trim using the hook latch lock of a patio door. The lock and adapter accessories in this video have not missed, jammed, required maintenance or failed in any way. I would call that mature enough to try to diy yours. With so much variety of locks and liability, a smart lock manufacturer would first make a linear latch lock adapter aimed at the floor. August Locks abandoned their smart locks altogether and blew up their funds to expand into doorbell cameras instead. A mistake to actively try to get shunned from integration on smart home hubs while making the company less attractive to acquisition. Don't expect an off the shelf accessory to come from August Locks.
