Mastering Maple: Guide to Splitting Firewood for Maximum Efficiency!
An increase in the stack height will draft that smoke up the chimney instead of out the load door…
I get a load of wood chips from a tree services and mix in with mine. I helps me save wood and its free.
Why not just do 1/2 splits and full rounds. Less energy for more energy
Just burn more wood stop wining !
Im from Houston Texas and i find this very fascinating and cool. Can someone tell me how it works?
Two wheelbarrow’s full of wood lasts me two weeks in similar weather in a 1000sqft house that’s horribly insulated. I’m sorry but that thing isn’t efficient at all. The emissions are great until you open the door 4-5 times a day and it’s open for 30+ minutes during fillups and cleaning. Sounds great but man, that seems pretty bad honestly.
3 foot pieces, you'll save years
No thanks
No BTUs in small pieces
That’s not true bud
You gotta work for that wood...
Yes sir
Dude you should go solar plus minisplits for cooling! I installed a 4kw system for under 4,000$ in 2021 with used commercial panels and a used IFLA...(Industrial flooded lead acid battery) It paid for itself very quickly. In your case it would be approximately 20 months.... I'm not far away in Northeast Ohio. Let me know if you need some guidance.
Dude get a solar generator out there. Plug your pumps Into It.
Working on that!
Not enough insulation, coming back at 160 is not optimal
False
Should get a 50-gallon drum and toss the ash in. Save it for the flower bed or garden.
I’ve already got a plan for that, just waiting for spring. I pile it beside the garden
Couple hands full of salt will do it .
Nice
Get it done!
Ty
Central Boiler is the worst company in the world.
I’ve had decent luck
put your ICB totes on a frame with skateboard wheels and every week, roll a tote up to your furnace
Working on something now
Bro add another length or two of chimney pipe and a weather cap and that should help induce updraft
that's kind of like my woodshed when i got it, i added the furnas when i bought the place. now i've got a trolly system for wood processing. so now i process as i go, i spend 15 or 20 minutes out there whenever i stoke the fire, so i'm always 10 cords ahead, the wood i'm splitting today won't be seen again until this time next year
Free? How much did that boiler cost and everything to install it? Wood splitter? Chainsaw(s) and oil and gas? Time spent on cutting and splitting wood? or purchasing firewood? Believe me he is not heating his house for free. Forget about going on vacation in the winter.
Carbon is good for our environment, trees need to to make oxygen so we can breath, our bodies are 18.5% carbon.
Right on
I think 5% is win. I’d scale the prototype down to may be a face cord or even a rick. The way you can cycle through the prototype faster without so much effort on the build.
I’ve got some more tests coming this spring
That kind of wood heater model is that 😮thank you!
Central boiler Classic edge 550, 2017 year model
No electricity, lights running on vibes apparently.
No there wasn’t
Can you burn coal in it along with wood?
No
It wont bite you throw the blocks in fill it up
Hahah. Trying not to stink like a bbq
Should close draft down minute before you open main door that way air will draw in when door opens.
No down draft on this model
Full time stoker
Hahah.
You ever lose some facial hair opening that door and being that close
Not yet !
have access to 120 acres and it aint free to take down, split etc. Sometimes I wonder if it's " cheap " with equipment maintenance
You’re absolutely right. I call it a labor of love
For someone trying to save he useung led lights
Lil
73 degrees? Damn, my thermostat fever goes above 68 or I’m too warm.
Got to keep the wife warm and happy
Respirator might be nice for ya over the years, but you might get respiratory problems
I agree I need some me when I do clean outs
2 PIECES AT A TIME. OMG GET GOIN BUBBA
Lol
Using smaller pieces would run hotter and cleaner, bigger pieces tend to smolder thus using more fuel to create more heat. You could split the wood and cut the cost of wood you use down.
Yes, I’ve been splitting the wood smaller , especially during the cold weeks we’ve had
Fire door facing all that wood and kindling on the ground looks like a disaster waiting to happen. I’d consider putting a steel sliding door there. Take a wheel barrow of wood out and shut the door behind you before opening that burn chamber. It’s just fine until it’s not. It’s happened to plenty of guys that thought they were being careful enough. All it takes is one pop/ ember you don’t see. Not saying it to be disrespectful, just an observation and suggestion with your best interest in mind. 🍻
Thanks Jeff. I’ve got some modifications coming this spring for the wood shed to make sure everything is safe. Thanks
Put some anthracite coal in as well to get you through the Night till about 8am PS make sure you have a layer of ash in the bottom if you use coal.
Can’t do coal !
How long does it burn on a full fill stock
This boiler , 12-14 hours . Depends on how cold out it is.
Now I understand... You have a great set up, process to complete and a strategy that works!
@ Ty
I agree it's great but how long before people just like yourself and there's lots of people with those wood burning stoves that take a tremendous amount of wood 24 hours a day can sustain wood for harvest versus wood growing?
It does grow back. Can you say that about oil or gas? It’s not for everyone . Mostly country folk!
I like your setup.
Thanks !
I love everything about your setup. Everything is exactly how i would want it. Especially the brand and model of boiler
Thanks
Alrhiugt I really enjoy you and the wood set up, are there other things you do, or this a full time things! Not complaining!
Full time job and do this for fun!
@offthetrailsoutdoors Now if makea all ot of sense.,...
Have you ever thought about a wood gas generator powered by the gas coming from burning the wood?
Interesting , I have not !
Its crazy how this just reminded me of like 20 min ago loading mine.... we go about 12 hours and refill but the handiest thing i got for mine was the wifi unit....i watch it and you can tell when its about time to load wood. and i wish our 550 had a bypass like the 750 so we dont get that face flame lol
Yes I wish mine had the Nila’s and the rear access panel to clean the coils. Glad you found the channel, please subscribe .
Perfect video man.... mines making the exact same noise and just got mine ordered..... did it make a big difference on the burn and airflow?
Yes it did!
Hey invest into a small picaroon you'll love it you don't have to bend over as far anymore
The aluminum burning is giving off toxic fumes that cause central nervous central damage. The reason I know is that I've already been there done that. For your health don't do that. I have nervous system damage from welding and inhaling aluminum fumes while it burned. Careful.
Thanks. I don’t stand close enough to inhale
Very nice!
Ty
How long does a full last.
12 hours
