I'm Kurt Bernardin, a Los Angeles-based digital creator that has been immersed in the world of digital art for over a decade and works as a Head of CG, CG Supervisor, and Lead CG Artist. With a versatile skill set spanning 3D design, art direction, animation, and visual effects, I produce high-quality content across a variety of projects including advertising, marketing, digital collectibles, television shows, and VR projects. Alongside my professional pursuits, I share my expertise as a professor at a community college where I mentor aspiring artists.
My primary focus is on 3D compositing, lighting, and look development, but I also have a strong foundation as a 3D generalist. I am always pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the field and striving to create work that is not only visually stunning but also emotionally engaging and impactful.

Kinetic Rush | 3D Community Challenge | Deliver Hope
My submission for the August 2024 3D Community Challenge: Kinetic Rush. Inspired by the Halo Reach Deliver Hope live-action commercial. This project was a fun way to get a stronger understanding of the animation workflow within UE5 utilizing the sequencer. All rigging was done within Maya using Advanced Skeleton. Advanced Skeleton has a convenient function to be able to export a bone structure to match the UE5 mannequin which allowed for a quick Control Rig setup.

And about export...we have to export one single file with all modules or one by one in separated files?
Had issues with my image, perhaps because it is portrait (Taller than wide). fSpy outputted a focal length of 22.25, however it did not look correct. Turning it down in Maya to 14.85 gave the correct result. This so happened to be 2/3 of fSpy's value which was the device aspect ratio for my image (980x1470 => 0.667). So perhaps fSpy doesn't factor this in where it should.
I've noticed some issues with portrait images, but I believe that may be due to my Maya script and not fSpy. It's something I've been meaning to look into further but have not had the time unfortunately.
@@KurtBernardin The incorrect focal length value is visible in fSpy before I've even used the script. No worries, at least a note is here for those curious
