Speed control of DC Shunt Motor are classified into two types, 1. Armature voltage control method / Armature resistance control method 2. Field flux control method / Field resistance control method
DC Motor Characteristics-2/ Speed and Armature Current characteristics of DC Shunt and Series Motor
Переглядів 5 тис.4 роки тому
This concept reveals the response of torque and speed produced by the Motor during when the load changes are observed. There are three different characteristics of the Motor: 1. Ta vs Ia 2. N vs Ia 3. N vs T Having discussed first two in the previous online lectures, Let us see the third one in this session: Speed (N) vs Armature Torque (Ta) concerning DC Shunt and Series Motors.

DC Motor governing/operating equations
Переглядів 1,5 тис.4 роки тому
DC Motor governing equations provide great scope to understand the behavior and characteristics of the Motor. Not only that, typical relationships between input and output parameters are observed to make the analysis easy between them. There are only three main equations of focus, 1. Back EMF 2. Speed 3. Torque Obtaining output parameters in terms of the input parameters is a typical aspect of ...

To reveal the behavior of the DC Motor it is very important to investigate the characteristics of DC Motors, there are three different aspects of it: 1. Ta vs Ia 2. N vs Ia 3. N vs Ta Let us see the first one in this lecture
3 Phase Voltage Source Inverter - 180 Degrees mode
Переглядів 32 тис.6 років тому
Inverter is a power electronic converter that converts DC to AC. This discussion focuses on three-phase voltage inverter in 180-degree mode, working principle with the help of waveforms with a clear idea of the switching sequence of the solid-state switches present in the Inverter.
DC Motor Significance of Back EMF
Переглядів 17 тис.6 років тому
Back EMF(counter EMF) is an important parameter to be considered for a DC Motor. Back EMF enables Motor to be self regulating Motor, which is a unique feature of DC Motor among-st other Motors.

Rotating Magnetic Field
Переглядів 18 тис.6 років тому
Rotating Magnetic Field in the 3 phase Induction Motor is self rotating by its virtue. Kindly consider a change in current direction through three phase winding. Cross(❌) indicates the current inwards i.e., away from you (in to the board) and Dot(.) indicates the current outwards i.e., directed towards you. Regrets for having quoted reversely.
3 phase Induction Motor working principle

    State why synchronous motor is not self-starting. List the methods generally used to start synchronous motor.

    • @learnwithus-electricalengi7390
      @learnwithus-electricalengi7390 15 днів тому

      A synchronous motor is not self-starting because it requires the rotor to match the synchronous speed of the stator field to generate torque. Starting methods: 1. Damper winding. 2. Auxiliary motor. 3. Induction start. 4. Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). 5. DC starter.

    Does the current through the voltmeter not become extremely high and voltage drop over the currentmetering tool become extremely high aswell??

    • @learnwithus-electricalengi7390
      @learnwithus-electricalengi7390 18 днів тому

      A voltmeter connected in parallel to a high-voltage source but with a low internal resistance would draw significant current, potentially overheating and damaging the voltmeter. Similarly, an ammeter with significant internal resistance in series with a load would cause a noticeable voltage drop, leading to incorrect current measurements and disturbing the circuit. By using tools designed with the proper impedance characteristics for their intended measurement purpose, these issues are avoided

    Good morning, please can you explain prony brake torque please, I confuse t(w.l) and (w+w)×l please Explain

    • @learnwithus-electricalengi7390
      @learnwithus-electricalengi7390 15 днів тому

      The Prony brake torque formulas differ based on the forces considered: 1. : Considers only the applied weight (). 2. : Includes both the arm's self-weight () and the applied weight (). Use the first when is negligible; use the second when significantly contributes to torque.

      When rotor rotates at the same speed as the rotating magnetic field of the stator, there is no relative motion between the rotating magnetic field and the rotor, including the damper windings. As a result, there is no induced voltage in the damper windings when the motor runs at synchronous speed. However, Damper windings are only used during the starting phase or when the motor operates below synchronous speed to produce a damping torque that helps the motor accelerate to synchronous speed. Once synchronous speed is reached, these windings do not carry any current, and no voltage is induced in them.
