The main reason why of increasing sence of distrust is not the surrounding social environment but the building itself to blame: the socalled Streets in the Sky is a fantastic idea, but they have no woindows: they are just empty decks without any windows facing it, and therefore is lack of neighbour watch. Hats off to Mr Squires for the poem at the end. Really wish this place could be reborn.
People are building more and more student accomondation around Shef U and Hallem U. The students dont care about the surrounding area and know nothing about the bad reputation of an area, as soon as it is an secured compond. take Opal 2 and Opal 3 for example, and some Student acconmondations near the train station all proof to be very successful. If no local residents want to move in to the regenerated Park Hill apartments, why not make the rest of it a lovely student village?
Mr Squires said, 'people started distrusting people', and at 2:55 he said something I don't understand and then bursted in to tears. It reminds me the refuge family from Kosovo which I have visited in 2009, also a North Korean female refuge I met there at the same time in Park Hill. People lose hope to where they live, some left, and some keep living there sadly.
This is an excellent little film about this famous Sheffield landmark.
