Altitude then back to AI. Airspeed then back to AI. Turn indicator then back to AI. Rate VVI then back to AI. DO NOT fixate on one instrument. This is how I scan in the sim and real-life flying. This may seem like a lot of work but after a while, it becomes second nature and you don't even realize that you're doing it.
