Mitiaro, Cook Islands
Harbouring some of the most stunning subterranean limestone caves and pools to be found in the Pacific, Mitiaro is a natural playground with cave pools, white sandy beaches, and fossilized coral formations.
The caves and pools are fed by the islands’ underground water reserves. Vai Nauri - a deep emerald cave pool, is a must-do when visiting. With a population less than 200, the gentle warmth of the community and the pride in their island is a marque of the island people.
Humpback whales can be seen passing the Cook Islands from July right through to October. The whales often swim close to the reef so you can watch them from shore.

Was there about a month ago. Amazingly Beautiful!🤩 🤩 I was walking on the island, a woman offered me a ride and showed me around the whole island, didn’t want money, just was kind.

I ended up deciding to make my at least immediate stand at the highest elevation inland from the beach at the end of the video. I'd call it the most prolonged near death experience of a lifetime. But at the time I wouldn't call it anything, because i didn't have time for that stuff.

Just booked my ticket and my gopro is prepped. I will stop for shopping in auckland before going next month. Mostly i come to the area due Rarotonga being the 3rd sint maarten. Been to Skiathos, sint maarten and now soon the cook islands.

Who knew? Penrhyn airstrip was built, using concrete, by the Americans during WWII. Unfortunately I missed out on an opportunity to do a calibration flight in a Fokker Friendship with NZ Civil Aviation in the 1980s. I'd love to have visited those northern and outer islands from where I was on Aitutaki.
Penrhyn probably wont have it in 30-60 years. Global warming. Most islands will get it. im quite sad.
