Biota Cultured Live Rock Acclimation
What kinds of coral are in this video?
You can make a better bigger tank in a faster amount of time doing it yourself save your money and get better parts
I'm local to Ft. Lauderdale. Can I pick up the livestock rather than have it shipped?
Most saltwater fish aren't from the wild, (from stores)
I don't think this setup really requires a skimmer. Weekly 10% water change should be enough... maybe they could add aquacultured xenia and kenya tree corals to help keep nutrients down
Exactly the reason why we don't recommend the skimmer on the initial set-up. Our Deluxe kit does come with a selection of 4 soft corals to help keep nutrients down like xenia, star polyps, toadstools, and sinularia.
If I ever get a saltwater aquarium, this will be my first.
No skimar so mor water chang every time
This is a great idea. Do you offer a package to someone who already has a tank? It would be an awesome idea to have a package you sell for someone with a tank. They give you the dimensions and you supply the filter, lights, rock, and animals.
biota is a tutty product
This is such a great concept. This hobby has a step learning curve, but with they're support and care for your fish and corals its likely you'll have a lot of success.
Wht is the size of the tank in inch??
The Biota Aquarium is 22"L x 11.5"W x 15"H. Thank you for your interest!
Can we get in india?
The Biota Aquarium is only available in the USA. Thank you for your interest!
Can you ship biota aquarium to Indonesia
Unfortunately, due to cost prohibitive permits/shipping with live fish and corals we do not sell the Biota Aquarium outside of the USA. Thank you for your interest!
Isnt that wayy to many fish and corals to add at once... I might be wrong though... Just seems wrong
The live rock came from an established tank. I'm guessing that is how you can add that much live stock quickly.
I’m guessing this is definitely not available in Australia
Not at this time. Thank you for your interest in the Biota Aquarium.
This is a great idea. It will provide a way to get new fish keepers into the reef hobby. A well thought out 'plug and play' beginner reef.
If I buy the standard kit, would i be able to buy corals from you guys later on?
Yes, you can buy the corals at a later date.
Do you ship to Canada?
Unfortunately the costs to ship the animals with a US Fish & Wildlife export permit and Canadian Food Inspection Agency import permit make it cost prohibitive.
Han Thi go to a big als near your house, they’ll definitely have one
Great to see someone with a vision of how some people might prefer to set their tanks up. Hope it all goes well
Why kill the creativity that the hobby provides? Pretty much making the reefing experience cookie cutter.
Mike E what?
The “creativity” that many aquarists enjoy can be a daunting task for the beginner. The Biota Aquarium was designed to make it simple for those that do not want to worry about fish compatibility, proper coral selection for a small tank, etc.
i have to agree. this is a great way to guide new reefers through the first steps of the hobby.
Biota Aquariums don't set a beginner up with a 13 gallon reef. They forget to top it off one day and that salinity is going to skyrocket. Also I think the price point is over priced. 299 is a bit more fair. 499 for a 25 gallon with 15 lbs of rock.
Kevin Wilson and everything aquariums- The concept is to get beginners into the hobby with conditioned, cultured livestock in a all-in-one package. We have hundreds running with no issues. The Biota Aquarium has a lid and evaporation is minimal. The set up guide explains weekly 1g water exchanges with specific gravity adjustments. The costs were broken down in a previous post: Thank you for your comment. The Biota Aquarium is designed to make all the choices for the consumer so they are not 'turned off' by the process of having to choose the proper equipment and compatible livestock. Your never supposed to add water to the bag. Because they been In there so long there's ammonia in the water. I just float the fish and add them
By slowly adding water to the bag, you gently raise the pH and dilute the ammonia concentration. We stop feeding our fish prior to shipping to help minimize waste that contributes to ammonia production. It's harder on a fish to go from a low pH (bag) to a high pH (aquarium) by dropping them straight into the tank. The best method is to drip acclimate your fish but this is not feasible for most people. Thank you for your comment.
Hi, do you ship to the UK?
Unfortunately, due to the high transport costs and permitting we are not shipping to the UK yet. We hope to expand and have a holding station in the EU next year! Stay tuned and thank you for your interest!
Why so expensive I can do the same thing for 499

Tempting, do you ship to Fairbanks Alaska?
danieljckson Yes, we do! We shipped a Biota Aquarium to Kodiak, AK.
Yes, we do ship to Alaska but not Hawaii.
Shame we cannot get them in the uk
I calculated prices it would cost half price to build it yourself

BIOTA. IS. A. RIP. OFF. I understand this is an package for a beginner to a hobby, but it charges you more than $200+ extra for LESS EQUIPMENT AND LIVESTOCK. Fluval Evo- 159.99 Standard Aquarium Thermometer- 3.99 Small Magfloat Magnetic Aquarium Cleaner- 8.99 Refractometer (Much more accurate)- 20 Eheim 100 Watt Heater- 25.99 Coralline Algae in a bottle- (Will turn dry rock into live rock at much cheaper price)- 19.99 Seachem Prime- 11.99 BRS Reef Saver Rock 10 LBS- 26.90 Bioactive Aragonite Sand- 12.99 Aquarium Timer- 8.99 Instant Ocean 50 Gallons (Much, MUCH, more than measly 15 gallons of salt given, and still cheaper)- 11.99 New Life spectrum pellets (60 times more than what BIOTA gives)- 5.99 ALSO ~ BIOTA DOES NOT INCLUDE ~ Hydor Automatic Top Off (will balance reef salinity) 69.99 API Saltwater Test Kit- 20 All of these are available on almost all major online retailers and will even ship internationally. The shipping range will exceed biota by a long shot. Almost everything biota claims to be doing better than other companies is invalidated by now. Just donate directly to a reef-helping cause if that's why you are buying this. In fact, you can donate hundreds more to helping out the oceans and recieve a better aquarium if you follow this. 2 Clownfish (Do not reccoment adding rainford goby. 2 fish is enough) PLUS 5 Assorted Coral Pack (One more than what Biota gives and $45 cheaper) on Saltwaterfishforsale.com all for... $115 INCLUDING shipping (Biota charges extra) and 130 with rainford goby. If you are buying everything here, the cost will turn up around $570 INCLUDING shipping, more corals, much higher quality equipment, more equipment, much longer supply of food and salt, and crucial test kits which they didn't even bother adding. Why pay $200+ extra for such a lacking and inferior product. Shame on you Biota, for taking advantage of starter saltwater hobbyists.
Will they ever be for sale on the UK also would you consider making a larger model maybe 20-50 gallons
BADU Grime Media we hope to open up the market to the U.K. and EU next year.
Biota Aquariums ok
just research and make your own tank
are there any plans to add a small cleanup crew?
We offer cultured Trochus and Cerith snails.
Hey where can I get one!!!!
biotaaquariums.com
What is the difference between standard package and deluxe package for biota aquarium
The 'Standard' package includes an 8-10 lb piece of cultured live rock, 2 captive-bred clownfish and 1 captive-bred Rainford's Goby. In addition to the items included in the Standard package the 'Deluxe' package adds 4 cultured soft corals.
Did you add the water and the new fish all in 1 day
No, the filtered freshwater is mixed with aquarium sea salt (included) and then you can order your live rock. The bio-active, cured live rock is then shipped. Once the live rock is received, the fish and corals (if selected) can then be sent. The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. The secret to the fast set-up is the live sand, cured live rock and bacteria added each week with a 1 gallon water change starting once the fish/corals are received.
how much does it cost?
Devin Ozanne The Biota Aquarium comes complete with all dry goods and livestock included. Visit www.biotaaquariums.com for pricing.
what website can I find it on?
don't you need to cycle the tank
All tanks need to cycle. By adding a biological enhancer, low bio-load, performing weekly water changes with high quality seawater in conjunction with controlled feedings the cycling period managed.
You can also fish cycle the tank with hardy fish
Very Nice!
Thanks!
What material do you use to make the rock...''CHRIS THE HOBBY GUY''
ChrisTheHobbyGuy we use "Real Reef Rock" that is man-made in CA
Can you explain man made or is it cultured rock from the Ocean?...
ChrisTheHobbyGuy it's made of calcium carbonate and cement and bio- activated in a land-based raceway using nitrifying bacteria; it has never been in the ocean
Great idea, I notice it doesn't come with Protein Skimmer is that because you depend on the Live Rock? Also can you opt out on the live sand since that will require a lot of maintenance to remove nitrate/nitrite? I assume it comes with an LED light?
The protein skimmer is not needed with only 3 small fish and controlled feeding (micro spoon included). The live sand is only enough to cover the bottom glass and keep the aquarium aseptically pleasing therefore not a waste trap. The LED light is included as is all the other necessary hard goods.
I don't even have a biota yet but still watched it all.lol I can't wait till I get one of my own. I love how easy you guys make it for beginners like my self. can't wait for first saltwater tank!!
Thanks for watching! The goal is to make it as simple as possible while still impressing upon people that these are captive-bred live animals and require attention like any pet.
Great product!! Super excited, and helps preserve our reefs! Been reefing for 27 years, 1 product of it type, cannot wait to see it for myself!!!!!!! Thank You Biota Aquariums!!!
Is the glass tinted a grey/blackish color?
No, it is ultra clear glass (low iron) but the black filter housing is probably what you are seeing.
great idea, awesome
Love it! ❤️
