ROUTE 66 in a VAN | California

After our little wind storm experience, we were ready to get out into the open sun. We stayed at a campsite that we booked through hipcamp: Copper Moon. In a bit of a detour (literally) from our usual camping trip, Julie, Dick, Abby and Boxy the Van (a Travato 59k) met up with friends, Peggy and Kevin, to check out the 45th Annual Ajo Old Time Fiddlers Contest in Ajo, Arizona. What a treat to get this little taste of American musical history and some of the traditions enjoyed by those who have preserved it through the generations.

It's not that bad like they say, especially in the Southwestern part of the lake. I've been there and I'm planning to build a nice hut for myself and enjoy the getaway from the western shores of California...

This winter we were in Yuma AZ. We went up to Quartzite a few time.
My favorite RV park. We stayed there the winter of 2022/2023 for a month and then moved onto California for 2 months.

Love the decor. Where did you get those twinkle lights and what are they? We are buying a KL soon
soooo sorry I didn't see this when you asked! We just got them on amazon. They're '33ft 100 LED Outdoor String Lights' -- turns out 33 ft is a bit too long, but i've got the excess wound up around the power. I used small 3m hooks to hang them (which don't all stay up but have worked well enough). The lights take AA batteries and we just keep them on hand. Great to have light without using the van's power.

Great tour. Watched a while back and thought I already commented.
Frozen greens...oh no. Is the fridge working properly? This one of my few concerns with the Travato.
I think it’s a combo of it being turned too low and the door flap not closing all the way. Things got better when we adjusted both of those things.
