11 of our FAVORITE THINGS | Travato 59KL
Now that we've had Boxy the VAN, our used 2022 Travato 59KL, for a little over a year, we've accumulated some items that we feel comfortable telling you about, mostly because they may not be obvious choices for a list like this, yet they do improve our quality of life to varying degrees.
Join us out here in Quartzsite, AZ as we soak in the warm, winter weather while doing a little show-and-tell with some of our favorite things.

1. rope baskets
we got most of ours at Home Goods, but these were from Amazon a.co/d/1EdXn9S
2. sink tub
a.co/d/fjNdOOY
3. fridge drawers
The smaller one fits perfectly in the medicine cabinet - forgot to include that in the video - here's the set. Not cheap but the size is right a.co/d/huD8m7A
4. Starlink
you can look that one up if you're interested :-)
5. ASUS Go
you can probably get it at Amazon, but we ordered through Best Buy www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-ax3000-dual-band-wifi-6-802-11ax-travel-router-white/6577616.p?skuId=6577616&intl=nosplash
6. no kill mouse traps
we got ours at a Home Depot in Canada and I'm not finding the same ones in the US. But here's a link directly to the same one on the manufacturer's site www.victorpest.com/victor-live-catch-mouse-trap-m337sr-4
7. butane stove
We got ours at H-Mart in person. But this looks like the same one in a different color. www.coleman.com/grills-stoves/camping-stoves/single-burner/classic-1-burner-butane-camping-stove/SAP_2000037885.html?DTCSearch_2024&gad_source=4&gclid=CjwKCAiAzPy8BhBoEiwAbnM9O2_WUNbfoVQzsRNHPm7RnGjd2QBevxzLWN5ECuKDNu9Uj1RGSaHrIRoCdl0QAvD_BwE&actionPoint=Show
By the way, H-Mart and other Asian markets can be a great place to get the butane inexpensively. We get ours in packs of four for about $7. We were shocked when just one can was the same price at a hardware store in Borrego Springs.
8. lights
lantern a.co/d/brDxNHF
fairy lights a.co/d/brDxNHF
9. bath mat
We got it at Target and just used scissors to cut it to size. It's not the cleanest edge, but the fluff pretty much covers that up. Surprisingly it didn't shed. www.target.com/p/20-34-x34-34-antimicrobial-bath-rug-aqua-threshold-8482/-/A-81781555?sid=198S&TCID=PDS-14396074492&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAzPy8BhBoEiwAbnM9O-NfN1jbSwnELRMGdeAUEPhBejacUEPP97rWuRMX70UCxpSKR2dYRBoCzIoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&preselect=81781551
10. wooden tray
we got ours at Home Goods - unfortunately not finding a link to order the same one online. That said, anything that size and solid enough to stay put with drinks on it should do the trick.

a Route 66 detour | GRAND CANYON
Переглядів 1464 місяці тому
While the Grand Canyon isn't technically part of Route 66, it's a popular detour since it's just a one hour drive north. We decided we just couldn't pass up the opportunity since we were so close. And with so much free dispersed camping nearby at the Kaibab National Forest, it didn't even cost us anything (aside from gas) to stay there in Boxy the Van. It's probably cliche to say that you have ...

meet BOXY the VAN | Travato 59KL full tour
Yes! Would love to see more gadgets and things you use in your Travato.
Thanks…any chance you can show how you mount the fairy lights, where they are plugged in, etc? I appreciated you showing how you mount the fan. Those Ram Tracks have me so confused.
Oh, just small, clear command hooks - I think it was a 60 pack from Home Depot. They don’t all stay up firmly all the time to be honest - need to really clean the surface first. And they don’t hold much weight but it’s enough to keep up the lights. 😊
And they’re battery operated - so I just have the power box tucked in by the pizza oven
Thanks for the video. I also have a 22KL and use the majority of your suggestions! I just got Starlink mini and am perplexed about where you plug that into the KL without using the inverter. What are you doing, and how are you hooking up your TV? Thanks!
I guess that was a little confusing. We have to use the inverter whenever we’re using the TV, regardless of the source - but the router and phone take less power than the starlink.
Fellow Travato owners here 😊 Amazing photos! Thanks for sharing
The last part was so tranquil and soothing, just what I needed this Sunday evening as the day ends. Thank you.
noticing some hiccups in the video on this one - dang it. I tried uploading at higher quality and must have picked a wrong setting. So if I re-upload and your view doesn't show up, you'll understand why. 😞
Rocking the Jinx shirt! Glad to see you guys!
Enjoyed the video! We travel part-time in our '17K Travato. Got it new in '16. It's old now (so are we!), but still running well with 120K miles on it.
that's so encouraging to hear! I wonder how long we'll have Boxy 🙂
Great video & lessons - thanks for sharing! I use mint packs to deter mice; have you started using a deterrent (if so, what?).And, isn't your current bed set-up a hassle to use the loo during the night? (cut down on liquid intake to avoid?) Thanks again! :)
thanks for the tip about mint - we've heard mixed reviews and haven't tried it yet. What does seem to work (fingers crossed) are to keep the running lights and sometimes a string of LEDs on under the van (weak ones so they're not too bright at campsites - don't want to annoy other campers). Also, as much as we enjoy having the door open to beautiful views, we now try to close it completely (not just the screen door) at dusk and dawn and that seems to help. I think both times we got mice, they snuck in as it started getting dark. and YES, it's a HUGE hassle in the middle of the night. It takes all the middle-of-the-night concentration we can muster to avoid kicking each other (or the dog) in the face. I figure as we get older, it's good to have to practice being flexible. ;-)
First time here so you may have covered this already…Where do you store those chairs? And can I assume you have the 3 pack lithium vs the 4?
We only have the one big chair (he really wanted it) and we haven't found a good spot for it yet unfortunately. We're thinking eventually we'll figure out a way to attach it to the bike rack (we don't have bikes). But right now it's just in the hall when we drive and we keep it outside or tucked behind the driver's seat when we're parked. And Dick tells me we do have the 4 pack.
Would you have a link to the removable handle to the pot you use on the stove? I like that you can use it on induction cooktop.
I really love your videos, but wonder if you could includet some comments on your lithium battery experience. Enough to stay comfortable? Any power concerns? Are you warm enough at night when the temps drop down? How well do you economize on your fresh water and holding tanks?
@@josepharmelin6467 thank you for watching! And those are excellent questions. We’ve focused so much on travel and photography and haven’t really done a van-focused video since we started. But we’ve learned a lot and definitely have thoughts so perhaps it’s time to do an update. Short answer - the whole reason we got the batteries was to make sure Abby would be comfortable, even in places where a generator wouldn’t be appropriate (like a grocery store parking lot). The batteries have absolutely served that purpose - they’ve kept us and the dog comfortable, while serving enough power to keep the fridge up, the internet going, our devices charged, and the induction stovetop and microwave working. Water and holding tanks are certainly more of a hassle than we expected they would be. We usually need to find a place to dump/fill after 3 days. Not sure if our sensors are working - that’s a longer conversation. :-)
@@TumbleweedsPhoto Thank you for your thorough reply. I'm not in position to purchase an RV at this time, so I do my traveling through your lens. This info does help me make a buying decision when the time comes..
Wow😊
I actually know 2 guys who live in Kingman - both car nuts!
Good one!!❤
Thx for the video. We love our Travato 59K too!
That drive is definitely on my bucket list. Thx for sharing
Hello from KY 🐎. Love Boxy. I just can’t pull the trigger, still in sticker shock 😂. Safe travels

It's not that bad like they say, especially in the Southwestern part of the lake. I've been there and I'm planning to build a nice hut for myself and enjoy the getaway from the western shores of California...
This is beautiful
Thank you for watching! :-)
I’m not into the camp fire either. I can’t handle the smoke. 😂
So glad I’m not alone! Lol
The photos at minute 19 are stunning! The desert seems so harsh yet you captured such a soft side to it. Lovely. You’re also making rethink the radish. A highly under used veg. 😂
Yall are too cute! I love the ambience and utility of a camp fire but I too hate the smell in my hair and on my clothes! Tree canopy shots are my fave! 😘😘
Right?? And thank you!
We only have to look, to find the beauty.
Awesome rig. Good to see some cool “normal” van-lifers 😂. I’m jealous of your adventures.
Make me want to go back out to Joshua Tree. So lovely out there.
This winter we were in Yuma AZ. We went up to Quartzite a few time.
My favorite RV park. We stayed there the winter of 2022/2023 for a month and then moved onto California for 2 months.
I love the simple meals you make. They are so elegant.❤
You’re too kind! Thank you!! 😊
I love the mountains! Great pics!
Beautiful area!
This is really cool. We have a motorhome but I really want a sprinter van to travel in with just Katie and I. 😊
Nice!
My grandparents got engaged at Joshua Tree. It has a special place in my heart. They were great grandparents.
The ones with the bear on the dashboard? ❤️

Is that a convection oven you are using?
it is ! 🙂
Thank you for sharing! It's fun watching your adventures!

are you back? how did you like it??
@@TumbleweedsPhoto lol still here, a little windy but otherwise so quiet and beautiful… may need to stay thru the eclipse;)
Congrats on the Travato. I’m jealous. I hope to get one in the next year or two to do my own videos for my channel. BTW, I love little Abby. 🦮
thank you!! <3
Love the lightening capture at 4:43. 👍👍
The great American pioneering spirit is alive in Quartzite! Cheers!
Lovely!
Love the decor. Where did you get those twinkle lights and what are they? We are buying a KL soon
soooo sorry I didn't see this when you asked! We just got them on amazon. They're '33ft 100 LED Outdoor String Lights' -- turns out 33 ft is a bit too long, but i've got the excess wound up around the power. I used small 3m hooks to hang them (which don't all stay up but have worked well enough). The lights take AA batteries and we just keep them on hand. Great to have light without using the van's power.
