    Such remarkably smooth and graceful technique. I am an amateur race walker from PNW. Looking to continue getting better, however. My average training is anywhere between 9:10 to 9:30 min/mile. My fastest mile to date was completed in 8:24.

      @EWALK , I appreciate your feedback very much, and will continue doing so. Thank you for your comments. Having a solid endurance base is really key. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I have been a runner and cyclist for years, and decided to give racewalking a try about 2.5 years ago. As I've continued to make improvements in my technique, I've come to really love the sport. Super fluid and generally easy on the knees. So far, my longest walk was just over 15 miles, and have competed in a few half marathons as a race walker.

    Man this is pretty cool. I was just recently drawn to speed walking or race walking as a way to stay consistent in my zone 2 training. Before my car accident I use to run alot and had to minimize this due to my right knee. Two questions... How many bpm's are you walking? How do you walk fast in a way to reduce impact on knees?

    • @EWALK
      @EWALK 26 днів тому

      I’m sorry about your car accident. So let me see if I can explain this right so you can understand it. When you’re running landing in a Bentley position produces a certain amount of impact on your knee. In comparison, race walking your landing with a straight leg. The way that you should be landing is almost as though you’re leading the energy with the quad then when your foot is in front of you, you relax the quad and pull backwards with the hamstring so that the kneecap is relaxed, and the quad muscle is relaxed. After landing, a majority of the muscles at work should be your hamstrings, glutes and calves. By BPM if you’re asking for a heart rate I’m a little bit of an oddity. My heart rate stays pretty low. On easy days I’m averaging around 120 bpm. On hard days I’m somewhere in the 150 to 160 range. If you’re asking footsteps per minute last time I checked, it might be close to 160 or 170 steps per minute.

    I think the imposter syndrome happens even after a decade in an industry. Trusting your gut is good, getting validation from peers is also good, but you don’t wanna look for someone who might co-sign BS. You sometimes need to take accountability and ownership and that is simple self reflection.

    • @EWALK
      @EWALK 2 місяці тому

      I agree. I think that was a follow up video I wanted to make. Is how to distinguish between a friend and someone who is just putting up with you as an “acquaintance”. But I think it’s important for anyone who is hesitant on starting a project to just take that leap of faith and trust their gut. What would you say is a good sign to tell when someone is giving you BS?

    • @jasonpgallery
      @jasonpgallery 2 місяці тому

      @@EWALK I was thinking more in terms of seeking advice from folks, a mentor will give you constructive criticism and tell you like it is, we always say to look for a coach not a cheerleader. Sometimes the people we get advice from don’t always have our best interests in mind, albeit from envy; or fear you might actually reach your goals. And you reaching those goals is just a reminder that they never reached theirs. So the people sometimes even family who discourage the entrepreneurial spirit because they care, it can be daunting but they are actually afraid of your success sometimes more than your failure cause its a reminder to them they didn’t pursue their dreams.

    • @EWALK
      @EWALK 2 місяці тому

      @@jasonpgalleryI agree with you 100% But I would also add that it’s not a good place to stay. Being able to chase a dream regardless of family opinion or who ever else’s insecurities get exposed because of your mission to follow a goal is really hard. It’s difficult to say those opinions of people close to us won’t affect the journey. But i have found it healthy to recategorize the level of trust I hold for those opinions of others. Especially if they are demeaning. Constructive criticism will always be coated in love, but we all know when someone is just being a hater and those opinions can be easier to walk away from.
