Phil Stern - Sulla Scena

An homage to the pickup truck as a quintessentially American mode of transportation In this compendium, Lee Friedlander (born 1934) examines the ordinary pickup truck, a quintessentially American mode of transportation. Timing, skill, and talent all play an important role in creating a great photograph, but the most primary element, the photographer’s eye, is perhaps the most crucial. Although the first universal color slide film came onto the market in 1935, it was reserved for the world of advertising, and as late as the 1980s it was still considered commercial, vulgar and unartistic.
