I remember seeing the hugely entertaining Lloyd Ryan a few times at clinics (organised by the late great Phil Soloman) when I was a fairly new drummer and I found him to be brilliant then and he still is now! Great Interview and very interesting to hear all the different bands Joe was involved with. Loved The Passage, Modern Eon and the Street To Street Compilations. I even have a 7" single by Glass Torpedoes which Joe mentioned. Even got to see The Passage when they played in Ottawa, Canada many many years ago.

Wow! What an insightful podcast with Rob. He lived around the corner from me as a teenager and attended the same school. Fascinating anecdotes and his grin is the same as when he was a youngster. 😀 👌

I'm Filipino but I was 9 years old when "A Pleasure" was a hit in US modern rock radio. It is one of my favorite songs since discovering it a few years ago. I have always known about "Every Beat Of The Heart" after seeing it spent #1 on Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart when I saw the archive after 2000. The lady in the video is implying that the Railway Children were big in the Philippines where I'm from which is nice. Can anyone tell me about it? I love the Railway Children.

We were called EAWS before I joined. When they were a 3 piece and they had a show and had to come up with a name quickly. We never loved it. But after john peel started playing us we couldn't change it😅

Ha, I was in Mike's very first band. It was in his parents' kitchen. I lasted 1 session as the singer. Mike was dead set that we get something recorded, even though none of us could play a chord. I had just bought a bass guitar and amp and brought it along, but as I was hopeless, Mike said 'you can be the singer'. Ok, said I, what shall I sing'. 'Anything, you want' piped Mike. So I looked around the room, spotted a packet of Paxo and started singing the information on the side of the box. Happy days!! We all went our separate ways soon after and I never got the guitar back. So, Mike if you ever get to read this- Oi buggerlugs you owe me a bass and an amp :)) Gaz (1 of the 4 original BFG's- + Keith/Bill, Budgie & Simmy-was it really 42 years ago). Mike, you still in touch with Keith/Bill? I'm still in touch with Budgie. Fancy meeting up this summer?

I bought Love See No Colour and cherish it to this day. I’m shocked it didn’t do as well as was hoped. I met Pete Hooton and Roy Boulter many years ago at a Madness concert at the NEC Birmingham in December ‘92… My friend and I got backstage through sheer dumb luck. We went to the Madness concerts in Wembley prior to the Birmingham dates and we met Lee Thompson’s brother in law who we drove home with his friend, they gave us their passes as a thank you. Very kind and Lee Thompson was really kind to us, very welcoming and warm, along with his wife. So we got very lucky. Roy Boulter and Peter Hooton are both lovely. It was a very interesting experience and an overall really pleasant one too. I always hoped they’d all gone on to have really happy and contented lives as they’ve brought a lot of happiness to so many.
