Out and About Offroad is a newly founded collective of like minded four wheel driving enthusiasts. We have a varied range of expertise and a ‘no stupid questions’ attitude. Our primary goal is to have fun, enjoy the great outdoors and record everything we do in order to create great content.

How long did it last before you blew it off
a year or so, but it doesn't mean much. I bought it as a high-mile but running engine to start with and although I'd reco'd everything bolted to it, I never took the head off. The head gasket was original from 1998 and mostly made of rust and crusty gunk
U need to get the doors done too!

Why wouldn’t you put a coolant bypass on it instead of blocking the rear freeze plug? Also Why aren’t you using a 5th gen ram 6.7 Cummins water pump ? It’s a 7 vane instead of a 5 vein 5.9 pump bolts right in
Don't have space between the back of the block and the firewall to fit a bypass, and can't see a need for the pump. As it is the stock one will push welsh plugs out that tells me it flows plenty
By any chance did you notice a difference in the diameter and length on the crank flange if you swapped over the flex plate? Im doing a swap from a manual non vvt and the flange for the flywheel is way shorter and smaller in diameter... Currently getting screwed over longer flange on the 1.6 as it will push the spigot bearing out 😂...

Why did you swap out to the Vitara manifold? Currently swapping out a non vvt 1.3l from a 2002 to the swift sport engine.
The swift sport manifold is a complicated plastic thing that hangs down the side of the engine. Can't remember the specifics but I don't think it was going to fit with the bolt ons on the side of the block.
Another quick question what size were the swift sport injectors😅 cc/min? @@OutAboutOffroad Your videos have helped heaps with my swap😂 but for the life of me I can't find any information about the injectors anywhere.

Nice sound mate. Need to work on the smoke output though. A better tune/turbo/ injector combination would help.

Hey mate did you have to changed your tailshafts with the cem engineering adapter?
I don't think it's 'required' but I had the rear shortened and the front lengthened so I could have the engine where I wanted it, further back in the bay
@@OutAboutOffroad yea fair enough I ended up in the opposite direction front needs to be shortened and rear lengthened, fairly disappointing considering the whole idea was to avoid that as I could of gone with marks4wd gear instead. What was the cost on the tailshafts ball parked if you remember?
@@babzerlli8467 tailshafts aren't expensive. $250 odd AUD. Didn't know Marks makes a Cummins kit...

How much did you budget on this build ? I’m looking into doing this at home .
just the engine or the whole thing? either way... depends what you want to do. if you get a donor engine in good nick which needs nothing, you could maybe do it for $30k keeping your gearbox. everything else you want to option-in from there adds more... I'm lookin at something like $70k on the rap sheet already for what I've done
Is the 6BT engine more powerful than the Nissan 4500 petrol engine?
oh god yes. I still haven't put this on a dyno but if I had to guess, I'd be making 400 HP and 1800Nm ? Hopefully a little more than that

I have no manual, just start doing it and see what happens 🤣
If one puts dimples on them there pistons the engine would last longer, have more power, use less fuel. Kind of like dimples on a golf ball it will make the fuel spray swirl & not stick to the cylinder so much so less wear. And the fuel spray stay suspended in swirl more power & less fuel used.

How long is a piece of string. The machining work was about $1800 (Aussie dollars). About the same again for pistons and bearings etc.

Go for it! Make sure you know what your plan is for the electrical fiddly bits like the crank tone wheel and transmission etc if you have an auto
