minimalism is buying anything you want but only 1x of a unit. Instead of buying 5 formal shoes, 5 sneakers you just buy 1 in each category and use it until end of life and then give it away or recycle.

For me, minimalism is not buying unnecessary and extra things. It also includes the habit of recycling and reusing.
