    It seems sad since this gentleman's passing the Shanghai Tunnels are now closed it was this gentleman's expertise and he cleared out most all of them with other volunteers so they're not doing those tours anymore and I wish I would have went if I would have known I wanted to see what was down there very fascinating

    The claims Portland being the first place, isn't possible. Astoria Oregon was founded 34 years before Portland. Astoria founded 1811, Portland founded 1845. The fur trade and later the fishing and cannery docks drew many to supply Shanghai prospects in their underground tunnels.

    I believe from the comments below that the tour guide has now departed this world. I actually said some not complimentary things about his story telling style and I should not have done so. I ask forgiveness for that. I also would suggest that people stay far away from haunted places. They can possibly harm you in ways you don't know. #prayingforPortland

    • @The-Portland-Daily-Blink
      @The-Portland-Daily-Blink 3 роки тому

      The tunnels were NOT used in drug or sex trafficking. They were not interconnecting either. They were used to make bringing in supplies easier for merchants and restaurant owners. There is no recognized or respected history that confirms any of the "Lotus tunnels" were used for "shanghaiing." Also, haunted places in and of themselves will not harm anyone.

    Michael Jones, known as "Poncho" at Nate Creek Camp, Outdoor School, fall session. Mike Jones was well known for fake little stories about "history" that never happened. Mike Jones was also known for Sunday night, "nite hikes" with girl-only cabin groups---often getting lost. He was a camp Drama-Queen and not held in anything near respect by fellow staff members.

    No one ever could have been shanghaied in Portland. Even today ships take at least 2 days to get to Astoria at the mouth of the Columbia River from Portland. With riverbanks on each side the whole way within swimming distance. Now the tunnels in Astoria on the other hand were in fact "Shanghai" tunnels. There's oodles of evidence from the man sized cages that still exist to trap doors and slides and many entrances and exits to the waterfront. Anything remotely interesting about Portland was stolen from somewhere else.

    • @WallFallProlapse

      Finally the truth about the "tunnels" I live in vancouver wa and decided to do the tour. Very misleading. The stories this man tells are all fabricated and baseless. Ghost adventures made this place look like something but then again everything on tv is. Fake.

      Yes and I suppose today it's much worse, isn't it? It's an organized terrorist group with handlers. They - the handlers, I mean - have global aims, our cities are just points along the way to be conquered in order to overthrow the entire country. Not that the handlers care about that, or any of the philosophies of Antifa, or BLM, who they are also handling - they just want their NWO. ALL OF THESE PEOPLE ARE JUST PAWNS BEING USED BY THE BIGGEST SLAVER OF ALL. But they are ASLEEP. Thinkin they WOKE. DECEIVED WITHIN DECEPTION, so the rabbit holes go... What can I do, just myself? I can pray for them because they are LOST thinking they've found the way through hatred and destruction. There is One Way to Truth and Life and True Freedom: Jesus.

    Historians, including police historians don't support his claim that Shanghaiing happened in Porland via the underground tunnels. I'd be interested to know who his sources are. I'm writing a book The Lost Restaurants of Portland, and The Lotus Cafe will be featured, and I plan on writing a bit about this aspect of the myths of Shanghaiing via the tunnels under the Lotus. Apparently, there is little evidence to corroborate his claims. Sources, please?

    I've known MIchael P. Jones for years, and assisted with countless tours down in the Shanghai Tunnels. He is great at telling stories and about the history that occurred down there. Michael also let me do audio (mostly) and visual paranormal investigation work in the tunnels, with some amazing results. There is so much paranormal phenomenon going on down there that I have experienced personally, as well as stories that others who know nothing about it's haunted past have come forward to witness and tell. Altogether, this lends credibility to the paranormal activity that exists. People have come out of the tours early because something would happen that would scare them to the point that they had to leave. Men and women both are not immune, and sight, smell, hearing and physical contact are all possible down there as I have witnessed firsthand.
