Brilliant! Thanks for the fix!!! Saved me some $..
Glad it worked out for you!
Love your videos, Clint. If you are a great big dude. You can pull the air filter box, the drain plug is a little hidden.
Thanks for the tip!
Awesome video, and great advice!
Thanks, I try to help where I can!
Hi Clint, I’m new to your channel and a new subscriber. Thanks for all you do with your Element. Your vlogs really helps out a fellow Element owner. I’m looking forward to watching all your vlogs in your channel. More power to you Sir.
Thanks!! I'm trying to get back into regular uploads. I've been a little sidetracked lately but I'm not gone.
Very good Clint. I bought a high mileage Element. I cleaned the cap surfaces with steel wool and added a little Vaseline to see if it helped. Still had the problem with the after mkt cap and replaced it with a new OEM Same problem. I went under and took a peek at the filter box. Someone had been there. It looked surprisingly clean, but the flex cover on the wiring was pulled back along with two plastic clips left loose, that are supposed to secure the harness. When we get above freezing, I hope to pull the box and check the solenoid. I have already replaced the purge valve under the hood. I guess there is a sending unit on the fuel tank that controls that box. Onward through the fog.
I hope that fixes you up! I've got a few more jobs on the Element coming up.
Excellent video man. I need to replace the oil pan gasket on 03 and you made that sub frame drop look super easy.
It's not too hard. Just don't drop it on yourself. I would feel awful if you did.
Forget the oils and sprays. Get a heat gun. Takes longer but only have to do once.
The heat trick never lasts very long and looks awful when it chalks back out.
I'm glad you could fix yours. I checked mine and it was new and clean. I replaced the VTC solenoid that wouldn't accuate and the other clogged screen behind the tensioner. Changed the oil and it worked for awhile and came back. Since it's winter, I did the relay hack. The relay energizes with the solenoid signal and then passes the pressure sensor signal back to the computer. The engine runs really well with enough git to pass. Thanks.
Yea, It's came back one time after this video and I swapped in a junkyard unit. Hasn't come back in 3 years. I have a new OEM in the glove box just in case.
@@clintsearcy3252 My only regret is I didn't cut the micro screens out completely and just install the gaskets. :)
Nice Clint. Even an old guy could do it,, maybe. ;) Thanks.
You can do it!
Thank you for the walk through! When it comes to metal on metal and using a trim tool I just use both my hands to make up for avoiding leverage on the metal panel and wiggle slowly outwards
I like to use my hands too!
Good video, and NIN!
You have good taste!
Looks like we agree on a whole lot of stuff.
And there's a lot of stuff out there!
Talk to much, just work, lol
Shhhhhh, be still.
This is my kind of video! Much appreciated you exploring the repair yourself.
Thanks for watching, I try to keep it real.
Ingenious 🐓🍃🍂
Thanks! I am glad you liked the video.
Is it always the driver side buckle that’s causing that light to come on? Or is it possible for the passenger side also to cause the light to come on?
It could be either.
Im deeply jealous of your finding that jack. thats a 200 buck find. I JUST bought mine. as for finding tools on the road, i have an uncanny luck for finding buckets. I've collected about 4 or 5 Brute 55 gal buckets, a 55 gal plastic barrel with no leaks, more 5gal buckets than i can count, and 2 rubbermaid 95gal bins. Idk how people manage to lose big ass plastic containers like these but im grateful to find them
You know, It's good to be me!
Hey Clint, thanks for the Michael Schenker Group hint! Never heard them before, but listening now. I guess I must have been under a rock somewhere!
Oh yea. He's my favorite guitar player ever. Assault Attack is a classic.
A lotta heavy breathing there Clint! You must really like what you're doing! ha ha ha
Yea, It sounds a bit pervy. It was about 100 degrees that day.
Love them line em up tools
I love mine!
“It’s not magic guys…” 😊
It goes without saying so...
I love your content. I watch it to know "what to expect" in the future on my Element.
My goal with these is to take the mystery out of owning an Element. They are old cars and will need some work to keep them on the road. Combine that with a young generation that loves the cars but has grown up in a disposable touch screen world and the gap is clear. Old fart, DIY guys like me need to do some coaching.
@@clintsearcy3252 amen. We all appreciate this
Thanks!
Keep making videos bud. We need em!
I'm on it. Planning out some more for the warmer weather.
I juss fucked up my bumper
Don't do that!!
hell yeah bro. big F U to the stealership
You are an absolute brilliant tinkerer Clint 👍👍
I've learned a lot through the years.
You should sell the key cover ❤ Ty for showing this hack, it was a learning video. 😊
Maybe in the future! I'd like to design my own first. Then maybe we will talk.
Mine is 2011, 164,000 miles. They are really popular out in the northwest, big meet ups. Mine has just needed CV axles and replaced fans twice. It has been an awesome car. Oh, and just did solenoid because gasket was leaking oil and valve cover gasket. What I love the most is that it doesn’t have all the tech junk on it.
That's good to hear, sounds like you have a good one!
Love the maiden shirt! I had a similar problem. Took my car to a locksmith in texas and got 2 new keys made and he reprogrammed the car so it would except the original key plus both of the new ones. Now I have 3 keys and it cost me $150 for everything.
That's not to bad for 3 keys. The dealership want's a kidney for a new, programmed key.
Very good video! Lots of useful information
Glad it was helpful!
My Element was just failed for rust at the rear upper arms. Deemed unrepairable, and uninsurable to be licensed or insured for the road. The rest of it is in great shape! Salted Canadian winter roads have claimed most Elements up here. The few for sale are unfit, or ridiculously overpriced. Im going to really miss it. Anyone want a running, driving parts car?? 😢
A common story for an "up north" Element. You may need to buy one from the southern USA and import it. It sounds like a lot of work but it can save you in the end.
@clintsearcy3252 I likely will have to. There is no other rust, not anywhere. It was treated with Fluidfilm and Cosmolene yearly. I had done the Acura 6th gear modification, and overbored the rear diff pump orifice to increase the AWD %. For winters and unkept back roads, it was quite a noticeable improvement. It looks like the metal had cracked around the upper arm location and the rust grew from the inside out.
I'd a good body southern beater and swap all those parts over. Not unlike the car in all my videos. It was a $2000 project when I got it. It ran and drove but had not had any real upkeep done to it for 200,000 miles.
nice job what model 3d printer did you get?
It's a Bambu P1S. Ive had it for 6 months but just now starting to use it.
Good hack Clint, as always!
Thanks!!
Yet another excellently informative instructional. Thank you. 🙏
That's the goal. Sometime I hit. Sometime I miss. This one was too long by had some new information I think.
@2:10 just notice u mention about not an incandescent bulb. Uuummm it’s pretty much is like any other, an incandescent bulb that has a wire around tungsten filament.
I don't understand what you're trying to say.
@@clintsearcy3252 ur sayin an incandescent bulb is not really an incandescent bulb, it’s just a wire round in it. Why would u say it’s not an incandescent bulb?
I think you're confused about what I said.
@@clintsearcy3252 I was yes. Had a head scratcher on that moment. 🤣🤣
I'm looking at a 2003 Element tomorrow with 54,000 miles on it for $10,000. This would be my second 03 Element and I cannot wait to see it! I'm from new England so hopefully this toaster isn't too rusty. I cannot believe i found one with this kind of mileage, been waiting for 3 years.
That's a great find.
I really appreciate you making these videos! Thank you for making this user friendly and not at all intimidating.
That's the goal. If a moron like me can do it.... anyone can.
The axles still good? Thanks
It is now!
My clutch plate spins but won’t release the splines and oil ain’t working help.
Have you tried tapping on it a little?
How has the moog mounts held up?
Still running strong.
Does it matter how many threads are showing/ how far the cruise control switch for the clutch sticks out?
Well, I'm honestly not sure. I DO try to put mine right back where it was. I wouldn't run it in any more than totally necessary.
Wich comes first: Gas cap replacemente or purge valve? Final solution?
Well, the gas cap is a lot easier. So maybe start there.
Thx for this video! I swapped out my damaged bumper cover with another one with ease! Super helpful!
It's easy if you know how to do it.
Your videos are informative and easy to follow, thanks for sharing.
That's the goal. Thanks!
Very good video, the way you used the feeler guage and how you could actually see what you doing up close compared to the several other videos i watched. Also liked the arial view. Good job!
I worried about that. It's hard to explain how to "feel" a feeler gauge. But it's vital to the job.
Thanks for this video! Very helpful!!!
This video gets popular when the snow falls.
Best video I’ve seen on topic. Thanks, Clint!
I'm glad you found it helpful!
Well made succinct video and the NIN is a nice addition 🤘
Thanks!!

Some days being cheap don't pay
This was absolutely NOT caused by not adjusted valves. This is a timing failure.
Or a broken valve stem. Or a broken piston rod. I still think it's smart to adjust your valves.
