Bows for Strings was Founded by Nicolas Fyfield in 1998. What started as a home-based workshop servicing stringed instruments quickly evolved into the sale of new, second-hand and antique bowed instruments and accessories.

MASTER & APPRENTICE - Daniele Tonarelli and Davide Pizzolato violin comparison
Daniele Tonarelli has long been one of our favorite Italian violin makers. We've had the pleasure of showcasing many of his instruments in our showroom, each one remarkable for its quality, consistency, and tonal depth. Recently, we've also featured violins by Davide Pizzolato, an accomplished luthier crafting under Tonarelli's guidance in Cremona workshop.
We’re excited to have just received one violin from each maker-both inspired by Guarneri's renowned "Ole Bull" model and strikingly similar in character and quality. Set up with the same strings, they offer an ideal opportunity for comparison, so we decided to create this video to showcase the Master and Apprentice side by side.
In this video, Nick plays the same piece on each violin, highlighting their subtle similarities and differences. Let us know which one is your favorite in the comments below!

It's likely a 3/4 or 7/8 cello would be a good fit! However it really depends on more than just height, particularly arm length and hand size. If you have a teacher they will be able to confirm the size for you.
It is like a symphony of sound coming from that one instrument.
