Will always like Stagg but definitely think I’ve noticed a decline in recent Stagg batches. Stagg peaked 12-17 batches.

The "90 proof Stagg" would be regular ol Buffalo Trace I would think, no? Same mash bill and same targeted age at 8-10 years. One is 90 proof and the other barrel proof

2024 LE is a super on profile 🌹 with some age. Almost playing it safe, but a great bottle. I’ve had dozens of Roses bottles and never had the eraser note. Must be a preference thing.

I would like to know your thoughts on George Dickel barrel select

I know some of their barrels on lower floors can drop below 100 proof when coming out of the barrel, especially with the brick/concrete buildings. Very nice pour, I like it a lot as well. Hope u guys are having a nice Thanksgiving! 🥃🦃

I appreciate the video. I’ve been in Prav’s store and it’s amazing. He has everything but man the prices on some bottles are certainly geared toward the top 1%. Having said that I have purchased from them and the staff is friendly and super helpful. I appreciate the fact that his picture was up on the screen the whole time, but it’s interesting that you brought the guy in and did a great interview on him and all we ever saw was the back of his head.

We can get it here in Clarksville, TN. Will drive some up for a my choice pour. The chocolate notes come from the 3% 3x malted grains. Its a 6 grain mash bill

Mid Winters night dram dropped this week

I bought a store pick single barrel Angel's Envy finished in Sherry barrels at Florence KY Costco, it's a decent bottle and hot to me at 116.5 proof.

I haven’t had Rockcastle but I picked up a bottle of Select Cask Strength. Amazing flavor profile. I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about it.

Msrp $250. 600-700 on secondary. This bottle has showed up in San Diego already at Costco and local liquor stores this week. Gone within 30 mins. Still hunting for one!

You guys do a great job, love the reviews and Watch Hill Proper. By the way, 98.6 is the temperature of the blood in your body, hence "Blood Oath".

Their Bottled in Bond Single Barrel is amazing as well. The chocolate is the grains for sure.

I've heard this is contract distilled specifically for Smokeye Hill's parent NDP by MGP. MGP normally doesn't do blue corn bourbon.

This is one of my favorite pours I have. It's opened up really nicely too. The neck pour was good, it's even better now. It's hard to not drink. I wonder how it compares to Batch 2.

It's "just" 5-year MGP bourbon but the folks at Smokeye Hill are doing a bangup job of blending barrels; here's hoping they can keep it up (though I'm not sure what they're doing with the barrels that can't contribute to this profile). Compare this against any other barrel-proof, young MGP and this is clearly in another category. It's not a GTS-killer, but it is solid top-shelf ($70-90) whiskey if you see it in your corner shop.

Distilled in Indiana…. MGP I would think.

Reminder. This was up against GTS. Which makes the idea that it would win the Small Batch category let alone the whole contest absurd at best. Let's face it. It's not going to out perform sjr let alone gts.
