How do you like the Nittos?
thats dumb the thing has plenty of storage area that looks utterly stupid
I like the additional interior storage.
@@AmpdAdventures Yea cause it needs more storage cause there just isnt any storage in the vehicle lmao
@@TENNESSEETRACKHAWK glad you agree! Appreciate your support!
Is this to protect from hair gel?
Hahaha I mean it can but I never use gel so I can’t give you a good answer!
Is this something you’d might find useful in your Rivian?
Personally I think it looks terrible! Complete takes away from the look of the truck. Would make more sense to make something that could attach to the coat hook from the back only.
@ they have some other options but for me this is perfect for what I was looking for.
What kind of EV charging is available? Do I need to get the tesla AC adapter as I see there is a destination charger near by.
@@vinitlodaya7221 at this particular location they have a Tesla destination charger and a J1772 charger (not sure the brand). But to be safe you’d should have a Tesla adapter just in case.

Have you ever traveled with a newborn? Or kids? What advice or tips would you give any current or future parents?
We had our newborn when I was on an Ioniq 5 lease that ended up getting bought back when our son was 18 months (which was when I got an R1T). The longest trip we’ve done every year has been a trip from VT to WV (broken up into 2 days of driving each way). This past summer we camped in an iKamper RTT on the way there and back. I wish we had our R1T in the first months! I remember how much stuff we traveled with-it gets better! The Ioniq 5 was pretty good in the newborn stage for day-to-day drives (especially with how spacious the rear seats are when my partner was still in the are-you-crazy?-I’m-not-leaving-our-son-alone-in-the-back-seat! phase). But for longer trips, it was hard to fit all the stuff (whether we actually needed it all, or not, we had quite the pack out on the first handful of newborn/infant trips) with a design that prioritizes passenger space/comfort over storage space. Charging was probably the most stressful part about the Ioniq 5, due to fairly poor CCS infrastructure a couple years ago paired with terrible/nonexistent route planning on the Ioniq. EA was a real mess in 2023 (in our experience), and the stress of having to use all the apps (ABRP, plug share, all the network specific ones, etc.) was not fun. Also, with an infant, sometimes the need to stop doesn’t always line up with there being a charger (now that we have a toddler who travels well, stopping every couple hours to charge is pretty great). The R1T seems like the perfect vehicle for traveling with a baby (maybe with a maximum of one other child or dog, beyond which more seats would be needed). When our son was younger, there was a lot more gear associated with traveling, and the R1T has so many useful ways to store stuff outside the cabin (especially with the powered tonneau for more durable goods like a stroller, travel crib, and I also have some waterproof bins to pack other items back there that are less frequently accessed). The tailgate is also a pretty good changing station (not as good as the R1S split gate, but still pretty sweet as long as it’s not precipitating). I always have a small bag with diapers and wipes in the right side of the gear tunnel (same side as our son’s car seat). Having an ICECO cooler in the funk has been very useful. The frunk is also a great “closet” for jackets, snowsuits, etc. The rear headrest is difficult to remove (there are two latches, one of which is hidden)-but in the rear facing phase, this allowed our son to see more out the back than any other vehicle, which he enjoyed). If there’s any advice I can give new parents traveling, it’s to get the smallest/lightest/most functional items you can find for all the categories of “gear.” For instance, we found that the Babyzen YoYo stroller was all we really need (only works on pavement/sidewalks, but that’s really) and it tucks away in very small spaces. We got a very compact travel crib (made by Guava), that was also much smaller than a lot of the pack and play options out there. Also, don’t bite the bate about all the things you “need”-in our experience, less is more, and it’s always easier to buy/pack more than just what you really will use. It took a while (mainly convincing my partner), but with each trip we’ve reduced the things we bring for our son. Our son is two now, and we can fit all his clothing in one 30L duffel bag. He now sleeps on a bedroll/sleeping bag on the floor. We bring a few toys and books, but usually seeing new things/places and audiobooks/stories provide most of the entertainment.
@ wow this is a great response and thank you for taking the time to share about your experience. It’s crazy because everything you just said I’m basically living right now. Having probably too much stuff than what we need but learning what we ACTUALLY need. I will say I am super thankful for all the storage the R1T has especially at this point because we’re carrying pretty much everything that you mentioned and then some. We are definitely using the tailgate as a changing table and it’s fantastic! I have some upcoming videos of showing just that. Our little guy is 5 months now and we’re still trying to figure out what we can and can’t downsize but like you said in time we’ll be able to downsize. Appreciate you sharing your personal experience. I hope others who see this can take something from what you shared and utilize it in their own lives.
Talk about a relaxing get away!
Was very relaxing and was much needed!
Loved the video. What running boards are those?
Thank you! These are the DCE Rock Sliders. I’ve put them through the ringer and are super solid!

You said the K03's are better handling tires? Could you be more specific? What about the noise compared to the OEM'? Range loss?
@@dalem7 I have another video on my channel going over everything about the KO3’s! If you have some time check it out. Handling, noise and range all covered.
i know nothing about anything I want to speak on…but here’s my opinion. Yeah…no thanks buddy!
Appreciate the input!
The KO3s likely will last a very long time. Not so sure about the Rivian. The tires do look good on the little EV truck. It is a great looking truck/tire package. And the technology on the Rivian is astounding. Thank you for the video. It is a very good video. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Right on I appreciate it, Thank you!
Super helpful! Thank you.
Glad I can help!
Had KO3 installed for a week, noisier than the old AT3W Falken, but better road handling, well balanced also it seems that it tend to like higher tire pressure for road, like 37 psi and above
Road manners are def great on these. The Pirellis I came from were god awful loud so I think for me any tire would have been a lot more quiet.
NItto Ridge Grappler are excellent and have low road noise.
@@hdr96k I’ve been intrigued by the Nittos. I believe they have a new version out right now? I can’t remember.
Thanks for the video. I’m thinking of getting KO3s and worried about tire noise. How’s the noise compared to Pirelli AT?
It’s a night and day difference. MUCH quieter than the Pirellis by a mile!
It’s really hard to convey how steep that entrance to the trail is on video. I’ve done it myself, so it’s the only reason I know but it just looks so flat otherwise for the angle it was shot at.
Yea any angle I could try to get wouldn’t do it justice to how steep it actually is. You’re right you’ll only grasp how steep it is once you actually see it in person.
How many Pink Jeeps did you see on the trail?
Haha atleast 20
Are these load C or E?
E-Load
Did you buy the tires with the certificates?
I did not. I figured having the extra full size spare I’d be ok.
From what I learn the BFG’s KO3 huge improvements plus easy to balance, longer wear, new equipment/ machine making these new tires.. decades of research better in snow and mud…
They’re impressive.
Great video thanks. And what is the actual range impact?
I’m avg 2.0 mi/kwh over the 10k miles.
@@AmpdAdventures oh nice. So you would said is same as the pirelli's? Better or worse? Thanks. Looking into the Ko3 for my R1S for replacement as well. I had 4 set of ko2 in the past and in one i did (well my wife) put 92K miles on them (4runner). Great tire.
@@carlossilviotube lifetime Pirelli was 2.14 so a small decrease but IMO a much better tire.
@@AmpdAdventures awesome thanks
@@carlossilviotube you are welcome! Hope it helps in your decision.
No more thule caprock? How are you liking it if you still have it? Size XL, right?
Wow keen eye, still have it but did some hauling last week and havnt put it back on. But honestly I feel naked without it. ABSOLUTLY love it and yes got the XL for the bed. It will make it back on this week. I’ll have a video of a new addition for it as well soon enough!
@@AmpdAdventures haha awesome! Yeah I’m thinking about adding it to the bed as well but also share it with our other vehicle which is a Defender. Would you say it’s pretty easy to transfer? I suppose easy if both vehicles have correct mounts.

Yea I had seen that! It’s honestly a great location right off I-5. I have a few more charging experiences and stops in some of my other videos if you’re interested!
@@AmpdAdventures Hi. I have a R1S and have been on many road trips myself -- in fact to most of the places you've visited and filmed. 😁😁😂😂But I'm always interested in watching other EV drivers' -- especially Rivian owners -- charging experiences on their road trips. We'll have it better into the future with NACS adaptors for Tesla Superchargers but for the past and present, we only have DCFC. It's always such a hit or miss with DCFC stations. RAN networks are pretty good. But we have so few of them around. My wife and I actually very recently went on a 2 week trip starting out from Greater Sac area up along the coast of CA -- Redwood country -- then up OR and WA then came back same way. I went on a hunt to checkout various RANs along the route. They were all great. Not crowded like they would be in the Bay Area -- 😁😁 -- but interestingly enough, 3 of 6 were out of service at Coos Bay, OR. That was surprising. Anyway, it's up to you as the content creator how you want to shape your YT Channel and what content you want to showcase. I'll just say that for me, when I watch videos on EV roadtrips, I'm definitely interested in the charging sessions and experiences -- good or bad -- with the charging sessions. 🙏🙏 Safe travels
Agree 100% that having the ability to charge at Tesla stations will be a game changer for a lot. I’m hoping my adapter comes soon as I’m taking a trip to Sedona for the Overland Expo. Also with Rivian’s new software update with the charging grades hoping we all don’t run into bad charging in the future.
Great event!
It was!
Nice! Thanks. Wish we had one in North Carolina.
Maybe in the future! We might be closer than we think to having charging style “gas stations”
