Thank you! They definitely can be! We have done both, but we have found that if we can get them to stay in a time out for a few minutes to calm down, that's the most effective. Sometimes, it's a combination to get them to stay on time out, however.

@@DrBuiz That makes a lot of sense! I’ve been a bit unsure of the right approach recently with my sons. How does corporal punishment happen in your house, do you use something like the wooden spoon or just hand? and how many swats usually? I’m trying to understand how to get my sons to be a bit better behaved, like yours are

@@thor5446 Oh man, thank you for the compliment! Don't be fooled, every kid has their moments, and mine do as well! We try to avoid it, but when we need to we use our hands once. I rememer as a kid if you can hold off the consequence to give them time to think, they start to dread it and it works better. Just remember every kid is different-- what works for some may not for others, and that any social media place tends to post the extremes (doing great or doing terrible). Keep doing your best and loving them, one day it will all work out :)

And haha you’re right, I certainly remember getting sent up to my room as a kid to wait for my punishment, that really left an impression on me lol Yeah at his age just the hand seems fair. What are your thoughts on parents using things like the wooden spoon? Is that something to consider for when they’re older, or not at all? I’ve just been reflecting on the verse of “spare the rod” and I’m not sure which way to go about it yet
