Please like and subscribe if you enjoy the video. please any feedback will be greatly appreciated and il try to answers any questions you have. thanks :)
Still have plenty of EWS 66s at Toton shed not stored.
The front windows look too big to me.
Ar really? They look fine too me, maybe it’s the lens on the camera
They have been measured to scale.
nice one all the best
Thank you
Them extra buffer plates are if you dont want the couplings, I fit all extras because i run a TMD no stock only diesels.
Thanks, I tend to do the same
My 2 Deltics are still on the China seas somewhere?
I’m sure they will be with you soon
DB Cargo .. used to be DB Schenker.. about ten or fifteen years ago .. there are still a good number of DB owned EWS liveried 66s still in use .. that black plate thing is for those not using the couplings at one or both ends .. and 66122 would have been owned by DB originally
Thank you for the info, very much appreciated
Nice review on the 66. I'm still waiting for my 2 to arrive, hopefully they'll be here soon. Cheers Andy
Fingers crossed!
Nice one. My DRS 66 is still in the box at time of writing. Lovely sound. Thanks for the video. Cheers!
Very good honest review of a seriously cool loco, I have a Hatton’s model with the original Legomanbiffo sound file, it’s one of the best sounding locomotives in my collection, the bass is thunderous! I take my hat off to Accurascale who have generally made a very good locomotive better, there isn’t a livery that I want in their present range, I would like a BR blue large loco model unfortunately it’s not in the first run, i hope you enjoy your model to the max, I don’t believe Bachmann will upgrade their packaging on their loco’s anytime soon in my opinion, thanks for sharing.
thanks for your commet Stormmy, im sure theyll be a BR blue in the next one
Front detail valance you need to remove the bodyshell and unscrew the two screws to remove the tension lock coupling on the front and adds the detailed parts on the front of the 66
Thank you appreciate the comment.
Paint job is wrong on the Gbrf version should be a navy not a light blue I repainted a hattons class 66 into Gbrf and it's more accurate to the Gbrf blue and orange I think that they mix the paint too dark
ar really, i never knew that.
@@Northernlinejunction yeah as I do repaints mostly myself
Lovely... Im waiting for Evening Star !!
Listen we're all big kids and im the biggest one! Excellent review from you! I already have the Accurascale limited EWS 66001 and its simply wow, it blew me away l! This sound file is the BEST to date, i thought the Hattons version had finally nailed it but i though it too bass. It's yinging is absolutely perfect, as you i see and hear them regularly and this cannot be bettered! Have ordered Climate Hero and will choose one more, problem is which? It could well be this the DRS as i have viewed your excellent review. You have a sub from me, really enjoyed Nick Redshed 66077.
Hi Nick, thank you for your comment. i very much appreciate your feedback. im thinking maybe a review on my 100 year anniversary flying scotsman thats still boxed
@@NorthernlinejunctionDon't think about it do it! Would enjoy that, for for it look forward.
Impressive Loco
Hey
Hi Haunted Railway 👋
Could you please confirm how thick the plywood frame is and the top of your baseboards? Is it 9mm?
They are made by white rose baseboards which are made from either mdf or Chinese hard wood plywood that’s 9mm
Thank very much for replying
While this video is now 5 months old at the time I writing this I have this model myself and just recently I managed to pick up the bachmann sound decoder that they provide with this, the decoder I have picked up came via Ebay and is practically brand new, at timestamp 11:08 of this video when you did the drivers buzzer and station ambience sounds one thing I noticed was the directional lights which you had as the red lights at the time they went off, I seem to have that myself when I use the F13 or any other function higher than that, the controller I’m using is the gaugemaster prodigy express 2, were you using that as well during this video or was it a different controller? A reply would be greatly appreciated.
Hi David, I was using a NCE Powercab controller in this video.
@@NorthernlinejunctionThanks for the reply but I have actually found out what was going with the lighting on mine, it was because I had F20 on my prodigy express2 controller set to on and that turns the lights off on the coach that has the decoder in it, because I use a prodigy express the screen on that only shows functions set to on up to F12, anything above that and the screen doesn’t show that they are on, thanks for replying but I do apologise.
Looks very promising 👍
Great Update - love the way youve done the fiddle yards saves on a lot of points

Amazing value! It looks great now, but will be awesome when finished! Liked and Subbed! Cheers, Andy
Thanks and welcome
lovely layout - subscribed and liked
Thanks for the sub!
Hi, greetings from Birmingham. I've, subbed to see how this goes on. As a matter of interest, back in the 80s I was a member of Shildon/Hackworth MRC. I was involved with Sodom Hall, Phoenix Rd, and Shildon. We got around a little as well as orginising our own annual exhibitions. Sadly life moved on and I quickly lost touch. But I did see the Shildon layout once on UA-cam a couple of years ago. Not had the circumstances to continue modelling either, though I have kept the interest.
Those bungalows at the right hand end look like the old Airfix trackside range.
Wow! That is superb. Great purchase!
FLATBOTTOM CONTINENTAL "HO" versus BULLHEAD RAIL BRITISH "OO" !!! I guess by the style of the layout it was supposed to be "Steam era". But maybe the seller sold the layout because its using Peco "HO" scale flat bottom track. Not the new Peco Bullhead rail (British style) track with correct OO scale sleeper spacing ??? Flatbottom Rail became the norm in Europe before WW2. But Britain resisted this type of rail for very good safety reasons, until the 1950's. So until that time Britain stuck with Bullhead shaped rail (which is shaped with a double head top & bottom) which requires "chairs & keys" to hold the rail vertically, and you can still find quite a lot of Bullhead track in Britain on secondary routes. British Model track producers for commercial reasons have always been obliged to make track to HO 1:87 scale. Not true British OO scale at 1:76 or they wouldn't be able to export the product. But a couple of years ago Peco finally introduced a track type more suited to British OO scale (a sort of halfway house), using British type Bullhead shaped rail & correct British OO scale sleeper spacing to 1:76 scale. Obviously they can't use "OO" spacing between the rails as that is in reality 18.83mm, not the "HO" 16.5mm still used. As you would have to rebuild all your rolling stock to either "EM" (18.2mm between rails) or Super Finescale P4 standards at 18.83mm between rails!!!
Maybe quite possibly. My eyes have adjusted to the incorrect sleeper spacing over the years so it doesn’t bother me too much but thanks for info 😊
Nice looking layout and a really great bargain! Shame about those missing buildings.. Cheers Joachim
Thank you and I know it’s a shame about the buildings but hopefully I can find something similar or better and put my own stamp on the layout.
LIke the natural long flow..it looks immense...
Thank you
Amazing bargain.Lovely looking layout.Very much looking forward to see the work you are going to do in the future.Subscribed.
Thank you for the sub ❤
This is such a great layout! Subscribed ❤🚂
Thanks so much! 😊
Hello. Just found your channel and subscribed. You're doing a brilliant job. You have vlogs from the start which I didn't do. Only been vlogging for a few months. Love to see you're progress as time goes on. Well done buddy. DELPH JUNCTION (Pete)
Hi Pete, appreciate the kind comments, thank you for the subscription. I will go subscribe to you now!
£200.00😮 Absolute bargain. That's a lovely little layout, I especially like the station building, like to know what make that is.
Hi Tony, il do some digging and try to find out what building it is. A lot of the buildings are wills kits but il have a look
@@Northernlinejunction Thanks. You don't usually see single storey station buildings that large, looks like it might be two joined together.
@@tonypetts6663hi Tony so I think it’s a Wills Kits SS67 Wayside Station kit bashed with either something else or two kits together
@@Northernlinejunction Thank you.
The brake tender was to help diesels with wagons that did not have vacum brakes.
let's hope 2024 will be just as good, if not better!
brilliant video, i'm probably going to watch the whole series now, you gained a subscriber
Bachmann makes a very dmu but 373 quid is far to expensive for a 2 car set nice review 👍
I totally agree, the price point is very steep. It makes me wonder if hornby price will change now they’re moving production to India. Thank you for the kind comment!!
A good set of videos, I've just watched them
Thank you
Not sure about the 'history,' they were introduced sort of during the years you mention, 1989-92, but there are more than 'one, running around the North East,' Northern has got a huge fleet of these, 2 and 3-car units, covering practically its entire network! But yes, Bachmann has done a fantastic job with this.
Hi, appreciate the comment and the knowledge. That’s nice to know there still are a few going as I’m a massive fan of the 158.
They are tons of the running round where I live, and in this livery too. Did the 5 car set you mention haave DCC Sound? as that is waht adds the money to them!
Hi Mike, you make a very good point. My five car unit didn’t and didn’t click on about that factor till you mentioned it.
The new tooled model 158s both units have motors in them. The info on Bachmann's website give you this information!
I'd been considering the Scotrail DCC ready version of this for ages, but retail price of £280 just too high. However, a few appeared a couple of months ago in Model Railways Direct sale for £214, which was a bargain. Apart from the connector joining the two halves together, I love model - livery, lighting, internal detail and running quality on DC. Really glad I picked one up.
Warley such good show, frend who nos me well went grabbed me some bargains this year while i was in work😊
These are great models, Ive got 4 of them myself, and totally agree with the prices.
