Two comments. 1. Holy cow you sir got an insanely good deal with that swap. 2. Malcolm used 12-56's custom made by Pyramid Strings in Germany. Pure nickel round wound with round core, wound G. You can still buy them direct from Pyramid. Malcolm used to get the ends wound in black silk and this stopped any harmonics where the strings reel off the burns vibrato. This is a standard option through Pyramid. Their strings are next level and a integral part of Malcolm's tone. I hope you can try some one day on that beautiful Firebird 🤘
Sounds great, dont stop!
Love this song !
In 1978 i Traded a late 60s early 70s les Paul deluxe i had less than $200 in for a perfect all original 63 FB 1, sunburst no nicks through the finish, no crazing, no bird on the guard… fast forward to 1982. Needed money. Had to beg to get $400 out of it. Biggest regret of my life. Had a gold mist FBV non reverse….twice actually. That one got away for good too. Nothing plays like an old bird.
I decided to give the AC 3 a try. I played on it today with my Zagar 80 Aura running through my mixer in my studio, and I wasn’t disappointed. I was able to cut through the mix easily and really had a nice sound. I don’t care much for the compressor, but as for the pedal itself I think it sounded pretty good, and was easy to dial in my desired tone. Might have different option of the compressor if I hook it up through the XLRs or through my acoustic amp? Just haven’t got around to that yet! You all have a great day!
Is there anyway to Mute the speaker when using the Amp as a DI?
@@Yogi_guitar yes if you turn the volume down on the amp it will still come through as a DI
@@CharlieLuscombeGuitaristUKbrilliant! Thank you
Thanks for the demo! Love the pedal But I just wish it was in smaller size.
@@HumbleHeartMinistry there is a smaller version too 😉
Guitar sounds brilliant. What model is the Maton? What strings do you prefer?
It’s the Maton Nashville and SRS - both 12s elixir
Lovely demo, Thanks!
@@organjoe cheers!
First off: good video, and wicked cool guitar, but you’re missing the vibrato bar and a few fact checks…sorry. Second: Does anyone know what actually happened between Gretsch and Burns? The Burns vibratos were so much cooler :(
How did that sell for only 50?
It needed a lot of repairs!
The most underrated acoustic shaping pedal on the market
@@SOAMLE l agree!
Me and my daughter (born 1986) have been to the Cavern club several times over the years. If you are a Beatles fan its a FAB place to visit! Also worth doing is the Magical Mystery tour, and to visit the homes of the fab 4. Also...The home of Pete Best (the Beatles original drummer).
Thanks for tips 👍
Honest review and confirmation of what I have learned about this fine Udo Roesner acoustic amplifier. Mine is on its way and will literally arrive within the hour of writing this post. Very exited. Thank you Charlie Luscombe!
Thank you! All the best with your new amp!
Thank you too! This is an excellent acoustic amp; together with my new Maton guitar - this is acoustic guitar heaven!
Brilliant!
Brand of Guitar? Thanks
Maton SRS808
Wanderfull 😇.. good emotions
Can you use this pedal to make an electric guitar sound like an acoustic guitar?
It’s more to tone match your guitar really but you may be able to get certain results trying it! I don’t think it will totally model an electric to acoustic though 🎶
Do you prefer the Humbuckers over P90s for jazz?
I haven’t tried the P90 for Godin but like P90’s on my Gretsch - I use Lollar Staples 🎶
I have a '59 style (single cutaway) Vintage Select Firebird Duo Jet. It's a great guitar. The tone switch back when yours was made became rightly known as the 'mud' switch, but TV Jones persuaded Gretsch a few years ago to try a couple of different value capacitors, and it's made it quite a useful control. I love playing mine, and it gave me the bug - I'm now up to five Grestches, the latest being a BIlly-Bo!
Mal's Duo Jet was a 63 and was given to him by Harry Vanda not George. The Overpriced Money grab MY versions are Japanese manufactured. The Leo Quan was installed in 1976 to 1980 then in the 80's he had a Schaller 455 replace the Badass. His string guage was 12-56 with a wound G.
I was there today and got a new guitar it was 1 grand
Congrats on the new guitar! Great place

The Epiphone alnico II FB720 pickup is more faithful to an original than 70's - 2023's Gibson reproduction pickups.
❤
Great review indeed, thx for posting ! One question: the way I'm hearing comment at 1:05, there is a way to completely bypass the modeling section (source and target guitars) to let through the tone from the guitar being played, in this case the Maton, without any processing. I always thought we couldn't bypass the modeling section ?
Marshall Crenshaw has a gorgeous sparkle 63 jet firebird
I just got this amp and I use it for busking with guitar and didgeridoo. It sounds overwhelmingly good, more than loud enough and better than everything I ever tried, and that includes Schertler and AER. It even has two DI-outs. A no-brainer for every serious acoustic performer!
I currently own a schertler jam 200 that stopped working 3 days ago and ordered an Udo roesner de capo 75 to replace it. I'm just worried my schertler will sound alot fatter and bigger compared to the Udo! Basically I fear the udo sounding thin in comparison
@@vyvynylification Unfortunate the Schertler let you down! Let me know what you think of the Roesner! I think you won't be disappointed, especially the EQ is very good.
Great review I am currently looking for some to enhance my acoustic live sound. Someone commented that you cant use the effects at the same time is this true?
Thank you - appreciate that! With this unit you can use the standard reverb on the left, one of the effects at a time in the middle of the unit such as the pad sound, then also the compressor and boost at the same time if you wanted to 👍
Good video!
What camera are you using here? Sony zv-e10? Thanks great
It’s the Sony ZVE10 with sigma lenses 👍
The Beast was a 63
Thanks for the video and the very good review. The pedal sounds great and something I'm seriously considering purchasing 👍
Thanks - good luck with your playing 🎶
Nice to see someone who has done a more recent and thorough review on this pedal. Great job on the video! I’m currently using a Line 6 PodGo for my acoustic guitar for worship music in church. It’s a bit more involved with creating tones but it’s really good. I’m interested in picking up one of these for something less complex. Cheers!
Thanks so much - really appreciated! All the best with your playing :)

Amazing work. I will catch one live when I’m not busy some time haha
Cheers Lee!
Great work and in high-quality audio and video. Nice
Awesome, thank you!
This guitar sounds amazing
I really wanted to see your settings on the amp. I have just received my De Capo. Great guitar though
Cheers! No problem - the amp was set completely flat in the EQ for this demonstration and volume and gain were at about 9 o clock. Hope that helps - it’s a great amp!
@@CharlieLuscombeGuitaristUK hi Charlie, I've now applied your advice to the amp, I'm using channel 1. I've fitted fresh strings and now it sounds great. I was concerned about the lack of volume but on my db reader I'm hitting high 90s which is fine. Thank you for showing me the way 🤝
Classic tune Charlie ur an amazing player hope to get to that stage soon im chipping away ,wat sort of Camra do u use to film cheers Charlie !! Brian Ireland 🇮🇪 invisible technique cheers super job 🎸🎸
Cheers - much appreciated! I use a Sony ZVE10 with a Sigma prime lens. That’s a great guitar community - all the best with your playing 🎶🎸
