Age of Ultron: The Bible in a Nutshell - Spiritual Cinema #1
What if you could understand the basics of the Bible and watch movies at the same time? That's exactly what I'm hoping to tap into on this brand new segment: Spiritual Cinema.
Don't worry, my movie reviews aren't going anywhere, but this is something I've wanted to share for a really long time and, between Easter taking place tomorrow and Endgame around the corner, the timing is just too right. I hope everyone will understand that my interpretation of my faith is my own alone and not a representation of any one denomination. I also want to be expressly clear that my intention is not to offend anyone of a differing belief system. I just want to bring a discussion to you and let you decide how it resonates with you. If you disagree or don't like the video, no hard feelings... but I genuinely hope you do like it. :)

    Watched it yesterday in my loved alternative cinema that screens old movies from all over the world. I didn’t know what was it about and it blew my mind, it really felt like dreams, with a highly deep meaning. I could also notice the different fears and worries that he had during the history of japan in the xx century: From a very innocent child submerged in the japanese folklore before westernization, to the worries of modern technologies and societies corrupted by consumption and lack of connection with nature, life and death. Definitely one of my favorite movies of all (next to rapsody in August).

    I mean I wouldn't claim this to the full because marvel was created to mock God BUT here is the thing yes it is a gnostic view of Christianity but what I did enjoy about this video is how you took something that was meant for evil and turned it to honor God in a good way cool interpretation of something that I still enjoy even if I do disagree with the messages :)

    • @reeltimewjoe1309
      @reeltimewjoe1309 Рік тому

      I appreciate you watching. 🙏 I tried to make it clear that this interpretation really only applies to this film by itself and not the MCU as a whole. I suppose my desire would be for newer or younger Christian viewers to see it, relate to it and hope that it would help them to grasp the mere basics of what their faith is sort of all about (or at least to get them curious enough to investigate more on their own). In any case, I’m especially grateful that the intent to honor God with it was seen. Thank you again for your comment. :)

    WOW! Just wow.. I always liked this movie and I wasn’t sure why sometimes, but now i think it was bc in the back of my mind I recognized a couple of these themes. Thanks so much for this deep dive it is amazing to see these parallel between the Bible and a marvel movie. I never thought there would be this much. That’s what i think is so cool about art such as movies is that it’s up to the interpretation of the viewer. As Christians i think it’s extra amazing when we can apply those to more secular things we love (like marvel movies) and use them to deepen and reinforce our understanding of the Bible. Again thanks for the amazing video!

    The dream that touched me most was the peach orchard. Simply stunning, beautiful, and wonderous. Its sad yet hopeful, and certainly emotionally pure. The Van Gogh bridge painting transition was also a masterstroke of film making. The weeping demon dream is also rather poignant. A depiction of hell, though man made in nature which makes it all the more horrifying. Watching the demons wallow in the mess they have helped to create is a stronger environmental message than anything I've ever witnessed or heard. God bless Akira Kurosawa, Il Maestro!

    I'm surprised they never tried to make more films based on this character. Nikita is the closest they have attempted at making the female equivalent to James Bond. With a movie, a remake, and two TV shows, Nikita is proof that there is an interest in the female action genre. While everyone likes pointing to Sarah Conner and Ripley as feminist icons, I feel Nikita has more meat on the bones with her characterizations.

    Nice and funny review.. I rewatched this masterpiece after quite some years. When I was like 14 when I saw it first it was my favorite movie. Somehow people and negative reviews have made me believe it's overrated but while it's hard to name 1 favorite movie I think this one is the best movie ever made... I also made the link with Lawrence of Arabia and imo this one is even more gorgeous. The story hits harder on the emotional side. The landscapes are indescribable beautiful. It's flawless imo. Love it am so happy I rewatched it. A timeless masterpiece

    I love this though this is also my first Akira Kurosawa movies and it’s just relatable in a weird way he can show the sense and vision in an abstract way because it it’s abstract when you think about it in a moment it hits and it keeps you questioning things and when you do that you can see the answers in a short amount of time it’s beautiful really he really sees humanity on anyone

    mmmm, I don't know...If you listen carefully to their script, Vision is more of an antichrist intended to flip our view of Christ. At one point, He says chaos cannot exist without order, that isn't Christlike at all. Ask yourself this, if hell is a highway and God's kingdom is a narrow staircase, is Ultron truly the evil one here? If you read revelation, many people will die due to their refusal to accept the truth. Satan's whole agenda is to get us to have a perverted view of God. These movies are apart of the agenda. I encourage you to read the Word then look at these movies again. Ask God to open your eyes

    Although I still think this film is seriously flawed and not one of his very top works, I DO like this film and I think many of the criticisms of this film betray a lack of understanding of what Kurosawa was attempting to accomplish. I do criticize this film but not for the reasons most often mentioned. Mainly, the film is too talky and pedantic (mostly in the second half of the movie, i.e. the Van Gogh section onwards). The first four episodes are exploring the same concepts as the last four, but avoid the pitfalls that the film seems unable to avoid falling in as it progresses. The first four episodes I find quite beguiling, in fact, but I think the film loses steam as it progresses. The first four episodes are much more successful at creating a dream-like atmosphere than the later episodes in my opinion. Anyway, having said that, one of the most common misconceptions of this film is that it is about dreams (Kurosawa's presumably) and the subconscious... it isn't. It's a film about Mankind's relationship to Nature, and also about the passage from youth to experience to old age and wisdom. Another misconception is that the film lacks a framing device. This is a also false, because the dreams ARE the framing device. It's not a film about dreams, it's a film about mankind and its relationship with nature, and thus the dreams are a vehicle with which to explore the themes of the film. The 8 "dreams" express the concepts and ideas of the film. It is NOT a film driven by plot, it is a film driven by ideas, and unlike nearly all "portmanteau" films, there is one overarching theme and idea. In summary, my problem with the film is not with the concept but the execution. I have a complicated relationship to this film. It was the one and only Kurosawa film I saw in the theaters when it was released, and I was very taken with it at the time. As I say, I still find the film mostly enjoyable but also flawed, and this feeling that this isn't one of his greatest films has only grown over the years.

    Carl knew the bad guy (Willie) address because Molly gave it to him, so it wasn't suspicious that he went to his building because Carl told Molly that he was going to investigate, so I think it's pretty normal that Sam wasn't suspicious of him (I think you guys should see the movie a few times and understand it before criticizing and making fun of it like is trash) This movie might be cheesy, but it's a feel-good movie with great actors (Whoppie won the Oscar that year) that elevated the movie so much considering it’s a very simple but very good premise, you guys are very picky about very silly things that don't really matter, this movie works perfectly and conveys its message in the end. For sure it is truely a classic.

      They gave it 3 out of 5 stars. Hardly saying it's trash. And I sincerely doubt anyone can uphold a standard of seeing every movie multiple times in order to know for sure they don't like something or like it. While I certainly advocate for seeing movies multiple times if there's uncertainty or for further edification, no one catches every detail even after seeing something a few times. Also, and this is most important of all, it's just a bit of humor.

    After you watch the movie 10 or 20 times you realize MOST of the dialog is exposition, regardless of which a lot of stuff was in fact "dumbed down" or added to amp up the drama for movie audiences. But it's awesome, my lifelong dream is to some day produce a small-time play production of it.
