"Being present to what you're doing" and "watching where you put your feet" - yet you're still dedicating time to film and capture your story. Very much appreciated. As you say - "staying focused" is your entire TA. Such a vast emptiness yet full of so much. It's all about grandeur eh. Manuka Hut - palatial. Thanks for yet another 'fun' day. All with 777 river crossings 😂

Those river levels were really low compared to other seasons. Great to see, was snow at the top of travis saddle when I passed threw this section

It's amazing eh - how something so small (yet prolific) can be such a motivator 🦟 Good to hear the zig-zagging and not switchbacks. You wouldn't want too many late arrivers or early departers with that door latch at Comyn's Hut.

The desolation and solitude add to the beauty and magic of it all. TAs always look so different when scrubbed up. You have to splash out from time to time. If it all helps rejuvenate the spirit and body - you go for it!

You rocked that pass! Staying at Deception Hut was an excellent plan. You could of course, do Goat Pass again on the Coast to Coast and you wouldn't have to negotiate the non-Bealey Track as you'd get to kayak that section 😉. Your video coverage is always exceptional but your enjoyment of the scramble up the pass nearly had me cheering. Thank you.

The invigoration of getting the job done. The build up and conditioning of your body before all this to prepare you for all this. Your choice of music is so often complimentary to the scenery. Beautiful. Coast to coasters are another breed again. I'm sure of the mutual respect. Jon you needed more penance. Glad you found the marker after Klondyke corner. Yeah, I could sense your dispiriting with the no obvious track to be found. I hope you let the Trust know. Again - an otherwise beautiful walk through this section. Every day is a good day. I'm glad I'm not the only one that couldn't find that track to bearly. 100 percent need markers out there. I gave up and went to the road and walked ova the bridge.

Good decision to stop at Deception. When they don't have time pressure or the threat of incoming bad weather, hikers seem to enjoy Goat Pass as much as I enjoy the videos. The Southern Rata seems to have been spectacular this year. Thank you for the continued sharing of your adventure.

Goat Pass is where one of our TAs 2017/18 from Italy - fell and broke her L arm. Compound breaks ×4. Carried on her TA with her husband to Klondyk Corner. Adrenalin had kicked in. They hitched a ride to Chch hospital. She went straight into surgery. We organised with them for her to return to us in Whangānui where she remained for 5 weeks recovering. Eventually she was reunited with her husband after a full recovery and knitted bones (tinanium pins) at Riverton where they walked together to the end at Stirling Point. They remain constant and forever friends. They still follow TA through my regular postings. Rata is stunning with the brilliant splash of crimson. Bush version of its cousin - Pōhutukawa. That is our claim to fame of Goat Pass. named a pathway in our garden after her - Gisela Pass which ascends to the Hut in our garden (Henry's Hut). Thanks for this 3 thirds section.

I've just worked out why there were no trekking poles back in the day. We needed 2 hands to flap in front of our faces to keep the sandflies away.😆 That was a long but good day. How lucky you were to be able to see the surrounding mountains and enjoy some sunshine. I hope you weren't locked in the hut for too long! Thanks and happy trails.

The track in the trees was not a fun part of the trail, I ended up taking the river after number 3 hut. Ended up at the next hut in an hour

Can I ask what day you arrived at Boyle? I took 3 friends over the Maling Pass on 9th Jan to walk No-Bo to Lake Rotoroa. It snowed the 1st night.

Just an observation it's interesting seeing how you all carry your packs and paraphernalia. Each to their own eh what works - and where you know where everything is. Another observation - you have a very pleasant narration voice. Quiet and comforting. You never sound stressed although at times you've had your moments to be so, sound so. A natural gift of telling your story, and including us in it. Kia ora. You know if you were all turtles (looking at your packs) we'd maybe not know you were the same family. Remember every step done is another less to do. Making good. Doing well.

Northbounding the Trail really made this section easier. that up/downhill was narly. There is a rivercrossing roughly half a day further south, treacherous when it rains a lot... The River i ment was Ada River, south of Lake Guyon Hut. I stayed at Lake Guyon Hut, was nice and cozy, then booked it the next day to Blue Lake Hut,,. came in late though...Goat Pass further south was "interesting" in heavy rain too. Would be funny if you find me in the logbooks, season 2016/17 "Kodachrome"

Wow - I’d read Vivs recount on her blog but the videos made it more real! Steep incline and steep decline combined with the rocks and ominous music had me in the edge of my seat! Armchair enthusiast that I am!! You are both legends!! Great to see you journeying with some of your whānau too!

Have spent several hrs under that "wee spot to keep warm" Waiting for the creeks to drop. Love this area, stunning.

Nothing like a gentle bit of bush bashing from time to time, eh. Taking time to smell the scenery and give you a different mindset. Having a bit of goat in the blood is certainly an asset. Noho haumaru.

I also love the Alpine environment Vivienne. Lovely video thank you. You two have grit and determination with a lovely mix of encouragement for one another.
