Great ideas!
Thanks for watching!! 🤘🏻💀
Great suggestions, thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching 🤘🏻💀
Looks great, but how did you keep it secured in the ground? You just laid it across the house?
Thanks dude. I use a wood stake in the ground behind it and screw it to that. You could also use a 3 foot piece of rebar in the ground and wire it to that. Good luck and keep me in the loop!
Haaha... I have a box of reindeer motors somewhere, too. Good to know I'm not the only one who can't remember where i put them so I don't forget. 😂
Ha! Glad it’s not only me 😂 Probably in the same place as my industrial glue gun, speed controllers and various missing tools 🤘🏻💀
It's cool to see other haunters reflect what works or doesn't, fallowed by learning as they progress. Hope to see more videos like this.
@@robertrivera9162 thanks man! I have a bunch more coming. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. 🤘🏻💀
That will be cool to see how the repair jobs came out. I like the background music.
Hope you and your family had a blessed holiday.
@@danielle5221 Thank you! We did. I hope you did as well! 🤘🏻💀
@NewEnglandHaunter it was one of the best in a long time. I was with all my kiddos and grands for the first time. My middle grandson said he had a blast hanging with Glamma for the week and wanted to do it again the following week. LOL, I was definitely worn out to but very thankful for all the kids cleaning up, so I didn't have to.

Hey Jamie, I'm a fellow NE Haunter from Cape Cod. Where are you located?
Awesome! I’m in Connecticut 🤘🏻💀
I've seen PEX at HD, but never thought about trying it out.
Give it a shot! I must stress if you ever try it, do NOT use the rolls of pex tubing. Paint will not adhere to it. Buy the single straight pieces. I had some people reach out with this issue. Good luck and thanks for watching! 🤘🏻💀
This is fantastic 😊
@@spookmastercam4534 thank you and thanks for watching! 🤘🏻💀

I wonder if that motor would work with a speed controller?
Great idea. Not with the typical DC speed controller….but maybe with something like this? 🤔 great point… a.co/d/83KGIzb
@@NewEnglandHaunter Yes, pretty much what I was thinking. A simple fan controller.
Awesome. Lemme know if you happen to try that out! I appreciate the great feedback 🤘🏻💀
I have an old shiatsu neck massager on a base like that! Now I just need to decide how to use it!
* Adds shiatsu foot massage to my thrift store list. I will have to tinker with this and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the inspiration!
Awesome! Thanks for watching and keep us updated. Happy Holidays! 🤘🏻💀
This is so cool. I like Fright Props, they are very useful when needing essential parts for custom props.
Yes they are! Lots of great stuff on their site. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Rock on 🤘🏻💀
Unfortunately people are lazy and figure one stop and done. Also this why communities aren't what they use to be as well. With that said me and my family decorate and even in the rain we had about double last year. Hoping for big things next year. One pebble can change a lake😁

Trunk & Treat has ruined Trick & Treat 100%
@@Deadwood-Manor47167 It’s definitely not helping our cause. Thanks for watching!! 🤘🏻💀
We normally have 75-100+ kids depending on the weather and day of the week it falls on... This year 20ish. The trunk or treat thing has really caught on since the lockdowns and looks like it's here to stay. I still decorate HEAVILY, next year is a Friday so we'll see. If it's like this again I'll stop it all together as I put a LOT of time, effort and money into making it cool for the kids (BECAUSE other adults did it for us and I love Halloween). Hoping for a tradition that stands the rest of time...🤞
@@thedragonmaker7468 well put! I agree 100%. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. 🤘🏻💀
Halloween is my Christmas. We put in the time and go full out, setting up. We live in a small community, use to get over 100 kids n since they started this trunk and treat.... it took the fun away from us n didn't get as many kids as usual. Quite disappointed. So in my opinion, I think it's dumb
@@LauraDahl-y4j it’d be great if the parents took the kids to both options. Crazy that it seems to be an upward trend of choosing that over traditional trick or treating. Thanks so much for watching! More to come 🤘🏻💀
I live in a city of 20k people. There's a few of us who go all out for decorating. A few years ago, two of us figured it would be a good idea to create a local Facebook page to help advertise all of the holiday events, including a map of where all of the events are at. For Halloween, the map is used to show where houses are at that are handing out candy. People are encouraged to post pictures of their displays and us admins also post pictures of homes we find. This page has helped tremendously! I continually get comments on how nice it is to have just one place to go to see everything that's going on for the holidays. As far as trunk or treating killing neighborhood trick or treating, that is not the case for us. I'd like to credit the Facebook page for helping. In addition to all of the fall festivities, we had nearly 20 trunk or treats in our area. Kids loved them, but they still look forward to going house to house. In 2019, we had about 30 kids. We were over 500 this year.
@@BryonFreeman great idea and fantastic input! I appreciate the info. I do agree and understand that trunk or treat has not affected certain areas as much as others. It’d be great if the parents took their children door to door as well! I may use this idea in an upcoming video….you will get credit 🤘🏻💀
It was disappointing this year. I live right next to an elementary school. The Friday before Halloween, they were having a truck or treat in the parking lot. The kids were walking by and were loving what I was setting up. I told them to come back on Halloween to see it finished 😅. Halloween comes and our street is dead. Only 10 came, but they loved the spiderweb maze i made in the carport. I like your idea about SM. Looking forward to more ideas to help keep Halloween alive.
@@bluepandagallery so sorry to hear that! So disappointing. Keep checking back. I’m seeing some great ideas here 🤘🏻💀
I don’t know if you have kids or not, but in my locale, trunks occur days or the weekend prior to Halloween. Most of us go to trunks in addition to Halloween. It’s another chance to wear your costume, more candy, and many of these events have bounce houses and additional fun for kids. Also, for many in rural areas, trunks are fantastic for these kids, as their neighbors are miles apart. Blaming trunks for a decline in traditional trick or treating is pretty baseless. Don’t believe me? Ask parents living in suburban areas. I’d be willing to bet they do both forms of trick or treating.
Not sure if you actually watched the entire video or not. I’m going by what others are expressing to me and chatter on social media. Obviously some areas still thrive more than others. There are reports of many areas where trunk or treats were on Halloween during the day….and those areas had less trick or treaters door to door. The point of the video is people coming together to come up with ideas to keep trick or treaters coming out Halloween night. Memories for the kids. If they want to do both then that’s fantastic. 😀 I appreciate your input! Hope you had a great Halloween 🤘🏻💀
I live in new hampshire, and one neighborhood in town. Took to the town F page and ceaseless promoted themselves over the rest of the town. To the point of telling people don't bother just bring your candy over here and donate it to us. We had 25 kids.
@@thomasboutilier3679 😮 25 kids isn’t bad for a small town! I appreciate you watching and commenting! 🤘🏻💀
I've been thinking a lot about this too. It seems like the selection for Halloween decorations rise every year but the number of trick or treaters declines. It's almost like adults are more excited for the holiday then the kids. Maybe it's the nostalgia of Halloween that a lot of us have that keeps it going . I grew up in the 80's and some of my best memories are trick or treating. We had more kids than last year but not as many as I was hoping for.
@@shawnd5786 agreed! We grew up in a pretty awesome time! Just trying to keep it alive for the next generation. Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it 🤘🏻💀
My kids' elementary school does a trunk or treat event, but it's never on Halloweeen. My kids do that and still go trick or treating. We never used to get any trick or treaters, but I started decorating and doing a backyard walkthrough in 2020. First year we had 13 kids, and this year we had 532 people counting kids and adults. I'm sure we had well over 200 kids, but we also got a lot of adults w/o kids that showed up to do the walkthrough. The only advertising I did was post on the treat map on the NextDoor app a few weeks before Halloween. I thought about advertising more, but I don't want to get too many people showing up.
@@willieloomis5958 I love it! That’s awesome. Sounds about like my situation as well here. I really started ramping up my haunt in 2020 also. Growing and growing. I’d hate to see it fizzle out to only trunk or treat. Great idea using next door app to advertise! Making note of that for next year. Thanks for the great input! 🤘🏻💀
I think trunk or treating came about because of incidents of people putting dangerous stuff in candy. It's a different time now than when we were growing up.What's the difference between going to a stranger's car or a door?
Trunk or treating hasn't caught on here, thank goodness. My problem was when the nearby mall started running their indoor activities during prime outdoor trick or treating time and that cut the number of kids going out by 80%. They stopped this during covid and haven't brought it back. We are slowly building up the numbers, it helps that we live close to a busy road and I put a lot of lights up early to make people aware we are being really extra for Halloween. I agree with you that some of the best memories were ignoring the uncomfortable costumes and the blisters and the cold to do one more block of houses for candy. And then pushing to do just one more. The candy was extra satisfying when you had to work for it.
Thanks for the input!! I agree there are other factors as well 🤔 Glad we can share some of the same memories as kids! Wouldn’t change them for the world 🤘🏻💀
I'm a spooky person born into a "why are you doing that?" family. None of them can understand my love of Halloween. My elderly Mother thinks it's demonish. So no fun for me while I take care of her. So many people are saying they want to do away with handing out candy, go to the town party and leave the houses alone. Halloween Grinches all of them. I miss seeing the kids, being able to give out cookies and homemade candies and scaring the little buggers of course.
@@colemyst We appreciate your spookiness! We need to stick together and keep it going! Agreed. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment 🤘🏻💀
My house burned down in August, so I had to do Halloween at a rental in the suburbs. I went big. Major display with tombstones and ghouls and animatronics and lights and fog, and a propane patio heater, and I stopped counting somewhere north of 90 TOTs, so we surpassed 100. Went through one five-gallon pail of candy and made it halfway through another one.
Oh man so sorry to hear that! Congrats on the great turnout!! 🤘🏻💀
I created the "Mysterious Mt. Wolf Trick or Treat Trail" to help revive families walking the streets of our town and having an "old fashioned" experience. We have families sign up to be included on our scavenger hunt map. When kids visit one of these homes, they receive a sticker to put on their map. At the end of the evening, they return to our park and receive extra treats for the number of stickers they collected. It's completely run and funded by the families in our town.
WOW!!!! That’s fantastic! I may have to do a video on this early next year. What a killer idea! Love it. 🤘🏻💀
that sounds amazing, kudos to you guys!
I think there are so many reasons that it can not be addressed with one video or comment.
Agreed. I appreciate you taking the time to comment 🤘🏻💀
Also another note, not a lot of people like to give out anymore now and days unlike you and I with decorations/candy. They much rather take, but might be also be based on disposable income?
Great input! I do believe there are other factors as you mentioned. I appreciate you watching 🤘🏻💀
I go through 1800 pieces of costco candy, but live next to a elementary school. I dont think its based on truck or treating, but just finding the community of young people/familes. Some neighborhoods are full of retires and they dont spend money. Only complaint I got was from a old 70 year old couple saying I was forcing them to spend money on candy because of my decorations. I reminded them this is all volunteer and just turn you lights off or put up a sign.
@@synshadows25 wow! Sounds like you get a great turnout! Congrats. Yes it is volunteer work - all for the kids. Appreciate you doing that! Thanks for taking the time to comment. 🤘🏻💀
@@NewEnglandHaunter thank you, planning to build more of your props next year, thank you for the tutorials.
@@synshadows25 awesome! Keep me updated. I’d love to see them 🤘🏻💀
One thing i noticed what those tik tok videos of people saying Halloween trick or treating is dead were only holding a candy bowl and no decorations. I think you need to decorate your house to help people know in advance your celebrating/advertise in advance?
@ yes!!! 🤘🏻💀
Oh My, I am SO happy that I found you. I absolutely love Halloween. Currently I am "trying" to pack up my Halloween decorations & put them away until next year. I can't wait to see more from you. 😊

I love the lightning light effect, it works so beautifully. Your haunt is the perfect example of less is more. Very well done.

🎃 To Jamie, "The New England Haunter" 🎃 Oh, Jamie the Haunter, October’s true king, With pumpkins and shadows, and all things that cling, To the darkness, the whispers, the eerie night air, You bring Halloween magic, a seasonal flair. All Hallows was grand, the chills and the cheer, But the end of the season’s too suddenly here. For hours you toiled to build every scene, With lights, webs, and wonders both spooky and keen. Yet now, in a flash, the spell must unwind, As you pack it away with speed that’s unkind. For tearing it down is done in a sigh, While building took weeks under autumn’s dim sky. So here’s to the haunt that glows in your heart, Though the props are packed up, you’re never apart. The spirits still linger, unseen but nearby, Till next year’s October to once more arise. 🎃👻
