​​@@fbisanchet Not a problem! I'm not sure why the 24mm isn't available and Sony rarely releases more in depth information on the Sony Xperia PRO-I. If you're willing to spend some cash, you can take a look at mcpro24fps on the Google Play Store. It allows access to all three focal lengths, f2/f4 on the 24mm, 10bit recording (h265 only), has focus peaking and a histogram. Tons of features and can be intimidating at first but has everything you need to record good quality videos. There's also a free version you can check out before purchasing.

Hi again. Thanks my friend for more information about this device. I already used macpro24fps since my Xperia 1ii and sure, this APK gives to us a lot of manual control. My point with the Blackmagic camera, is that I can burn my LUTs directly when I am filming. This process can give me time on pros production if I shoot in a controlled environment. Thanks again. @@fbisanchet Yes, that's an important feature to have for what you want to do. It does save a lot of time in post editing. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra has something similar where you can import LUTs and view footage in it, but it can't be embedded. It would still need to be added in post-production. I have a feeling Blackmagic will do something similar for the Xperia PRO-I if it's available in the future. Sony only recently offered LUT embedding in their newer, higher end camera models. The PRO-I may not have an option for it since it was released in late 2021.

Yes it still is if you will use it mostly for taking pics and videos. Think of it as a waterproof compact camera with a larger display and instant content upload and sharing. Which all traditional digital compact cameras lack. Also if you need a 4k screen to edit or check 4k content you create. It can also be used as an external monitor for some Sony cameras. And if you already own Sony digital cameras and want something light to carry around sometimes, the Xperia PRO-I is an excellent choice as well. If you're looking for a more current OS and longer security support, it's better to go with the Xperia IV or VI.

Are you talking about the laser autofocus for the Xiaomi 13 Ultra?

How I wish they would break from their norm! If Sony is willing to sacrifice its design philosophy of clean and flowing aesthetics, a larger lens system resulting in a bigger camera housing will significantly improve photo and video quality. The lens system is equally as important as sensor and processor size for great pics and vids. Perhaps continue the PRO-I series with a larger lens system while keeping its current design philosophy with the Xperia 1 series. They shifted course with the Xperia 1 series to entice the mainstream, they can stay unique and be bolder with the PRO-I series.

@@sidersproductions941 I think Sony doesn't have the budget or is unwilling to spend more money for their smartphone lineup to do anything bold. Also, Japanese companies tend to be more conservative and stick with the same things for a long time before making any significant changes.

@@sidersproductions941 I think that's a great idea, especially if you're passionate about photography and or videography. Definitely can get more out of a Sony A7IV for many years, especially if paired with a good 24-70mm and up lens. That what I did for several years. I used a Sony digital camera for my photos and vids and a Samsung Note series for smartphone use.

You're very welcome! The Xperia PRO-I's main camera and even the 50mm telephoto are still excellent even going into 2025. I did a JPEG/RAW comparison video recently with it and a Xiaomi 13 Ultra and the image quality is close. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, and I didn't see a significant difference between them. However, video quality leans more towards the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Thank you for sharing the current price from Sony! It's definitely worth getting at that price. If you're familiar with Sony's digital camera FN (quick settings menu), the Xperia PRO-I's camera system is intuitive and not a challenge to use despite what some reviewers say. It's one of my favorite smartphones of all time and I wish I could keep going with it until it fails completely. But I can barely get 1-2 mins of video recording time in 30C+ temps before Video PRO or the PRO-I shuts down. My Xioami 13 Ultra can keep going even without restricting certain features like frame rate and audio quality.

I wanted to include as many photos between them in various scenes and lighting as possible so everyone can have a more thorough look at the camera capabilities of both camera phones. Most reviewers just include a few photos and usually in optimal scenarios. For posting on social media or sharing photos and videos between phones, I agree with your comment that any phone from 2018 onward does a good job with few advantages. And some phones have better displays which may make photos and videos seem superior. But when viewing on various larger displays such as computer monitors and TVs, that's when the differences can be seen. Photos and videos viewed on the Sony Xperia PRO-I appear bland and lack vividness but only because its display isn't as bright as its competitors. On my computer monitor, they look similar to what I capture from my Sony ZV1 digital camera. On the displays of an iPhone or my Xiaomi 13 Ultra, they look amazing. But when I view them on my color accurate computer monitor, they look similar to what I see on my Sony Xperia PRO-I (can also see how heavily processed iPhone photos are too!).

There are some poorly made products coming out of China but that could be said of any country that manufactures goods. Most goods have been manufactured in China for many years now, but some have recently switched to southeast Asian countries. 5 years ago, I would have never bought a phone from a Chinese manufacturer and that's why I stuck with Sony or Samsung. However, I was really impressed by the build quality of my Xiaomi 13 Ultra and its similar to my Sony Xperia PRO-I. What even surprised me more was how good it was for its selling price (Chinese only model). I own other Xiaomi products such as speakers and electric shavers. All excellent build quality but the downside, well, they're aesthetically boring and straight to the point. Truthfully, I have had more repair requests for Samsung products such as displays, smartwatches, and phones and Sony such as earbuds, camera lenses and smartphones than my Xiaomi ones which I've had none so far. Samsung and Sony have been neglecting the quality of their products for many years now and I have documented this in numerous videos on my channel.

I'm going to miss Sony Xperia smartphones now that I decided to try Xiaomi for a while. The camera shutter button is really useful for taking pics and its funny how other companies are trying to promote it as some new thing now. Also, the 21:9 display which many complained about makes it easier to handle for taking pics and vids compared to wider displays found on other phones that claim to be "camera phones". It really is the only phone that comes close to mimicking the feel and operation of a digital camera. Now that the Xperia 1VI is more mainstream, let's see if it helps more people become interested in Sony!

Yes, the G11 was Canon's premium compact camera similar to the Sony RX100 series. At that time, compact cameras were still favored over smartphones, so it doesn't surprise me Canon and similar companies charged a lot for them. But its optical zoom capabilities and color profiles aren't that bad even for 2024 so maybe it takes some of the sting away from the high costs?

To start with vlogging, set your shutter speed to 1/48 and a frame rate of 24fps. If you want a smoother look to your vlogs, you can set the shutter speed to 1/60 and the frame rate to 30fps. You can leave everything else on auto for now. Also turn on face and eye auto focus so your face will be in focus when vlogging. Turn on Standard Steady Shot (optical stabilization) to minimize shaking in your videos. I recommend getting a handheld tripod so your ZV1 is further from your face, it can be really close if vlogging with it in your hand or decide to use Active Steady Shot). Later on, when you become comfortable with adjusting more settings, you can adjust your ISO and white balance to avoid brightness and color levels changing while vlogging. If you need further help, please don't hesitate to ask!

Yes, the settings can be intimidating at first. I recommend using shutter priority (S), aperture (A) priority or program mode (P) first to eventually transition into manual mode for photos. If you're recording fast moving subjects, use shutter priority. Start with a shutter speed of 1000+ and keep increasing it if your subject is still blurry. Everything else is kept on auto so you only have to focus on shutter speed and your subject's movement. Aperture priority is useful for low light or bright light. You would just adjust the aperture to compensate for the lighting of your scene. Everything else is adjusted automatically. If you have low light, start with an aperture of f2.8. You can go all the way to f1.8 to allow more light to reach the camera's sensor. For daylight and bright scenes, start with f4.0. If still too bright, you can try going up to f8 and above. This will let less light into the sensor allowing you to control bright scenes. If you're photographing a scene that doesn't have fast moving subjects, try program mode. You would only adjust the exposure to compensate for the brightness or darkness of your scene (the exposure setting is the box with the + and - signs in black and white on the back of your camera). The camera will adjust everything automatically for you including shutter speed and aperture. Thats why only use it if not fast-moving subjects or the pics might come out blurry. If the scene is too dark, increase the exposure. If too bright, you just decrease it. If you practice with all three of these modes, you're getting close to using most of the settings many people use for manual photography. However, these three settings are excellent for most types of photography and produce great photos.

@@abcammym Don't worry, you will be comfortable using your ZV1 beyond auto mode once you start using the other modes more often. Truthfully, I mostly adjust shutter speed, aperture and ISO when taking pics. I will adjust white balance and focus if my camera is having issues matching my scene or keeping my subject in focus but that's rare. And it's easier for videos because you just set the shutter speed and frame rate, leave it alone and adjust ISO and white balance. And keep your aspect ratio at 16:9. Sometimes use manual focus if I want to start off blurry on my subject and proceed to making them sharper. You can look at how to use the histogram on your ZV1 to keep bright and dark areas in check (or to enhance or deemphasize them) and it's something I use all the time for both photos and video. The most important thing is that learning the settings is essential but don't forget the artistic side as well. Capturing the emotion and beauty of a scene, using lighting to illuminate or darken a subject, color balance and contrast, where you place your subject(s) in a scene, and telling a story with your photo or video clip is equally as important. Many great photos and vids have been captured using auto mode as well!

Thank you! I really appreciate it. I have a feeling the Xperia PRO-I was a one-time release because Sony was able to achieve something similar results with their newer sensors in the Xperia 1 V and up series. There was nothing else significant about it that set it apart from the Xperia 1iii besides the wide camera. Also, I think controlling the excessive heat from the RX100 sensor was a problem for them because it's something they had an issue with in earlier RX100 camera models. To take advantage of the full sensor they would need to add a bigger and thicker lens similar to what the Xiaomi 13 Ultra did but at the expense of going against their deeply rooted aesthetics of keeping everything slim and balanced. I hope Sony sticks with the 4k 21:9 aspect ratio with the previous Photo/Video PRO apps as a Pro option along with the new 1VI and up series instead of dumping it completely. I'll start putting together Part 2 this week and hopefully can start recording it this weekend!

@thefitlifechannel2021 ah I see. Valid points. I really wish it weren't true though. The Pro-I line had a lot of potential and only Sony's stubbornness to hold it back. Will keep an eye on what they launch next and it'll they will finally utilize their own top of the line sensors for their own flagships.

@@sidersproductions941 Yup, I was really looking forward to a second version with an improved cooling system and a wider aperture for the wide camera. Also add in LOG capability for video with focus peaking. It's challenging to do manual focus with the PRO-I. A bigger battery would be nice too. I forgot to mention this earlier but one of the reasons Sony cropped the 1.0 type sensor was to allow fast readout speeds and 4k@120fps video recording. Not even my Xiaomi 13 Ultra can do that, and that seems to be the limitation of using all of the sensor. Not even the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra with the same sensor can do it. It appears all the phones that can record 4k@120fps don't use a 1.0 type sensor or all of it. So, it would be ok if the second version, still didn't use all of it. And I think what's holding Sony back from making the Xperia PRO-I extremely good is that it might interfere with its traditional camera sales. The Xperia PRO-I solves major issues digital cameras have now, it's lightweight, quick upload of photos to social media, a large color accurate 4k display, large battery capacity and "find my phone" capability. If Sony made the improved PRO-I cameras equal to or better than their RX100 or A6000 series cameras, there would be no real incentives to buy them. It's not Sony can't do it but would create a product that's too good, can't be improved on much in the future, and many people wouldn't see the reason to buy their digital cameras because the cameras on the improved PRO-I would be just as good or better.

Men you don't know about Vivo X100 ultra? They have 4K 120 fps in 1" main camera and telephoto lens too and can switch behind them​@@thefitlifechannel2021

You're very welcome! I'll probably do a long-term review on it sometime next year. It has it faults but I still think it's a good wireless mic system for Sony cameras even going into 2025. It has a clean, professional aesthetic and very easy to use. It doesn't look gaudy if you wear the transmitter on your shirt collar unlike other brands.

The background noise isn't such a problem like other reviewers say, it means two clicks in Adobe Premiere. Especially when set up on - 10 dB, - 20 dB or using with ECM-LV 1. Your video was very useful and helpful...

Nice! I'm glad you decided to go with this one and not the more mainstream ones. I use 10db with the ECM-LV1 and 20db when only using the transmitter on my shirt collar and have been able to avoid clipping. But it can still clip even using 20db if my voice is too loud, so I try to stay calm when speaking. I do get some background noise but only when using it in analog mode with something like the Sony ZV1 which doesn't work in digital mode. The background noise can pop up if the camera is hot from recording in 4k for extended periods from my ZV1 and ZVE-10. But this is the downside to some Sony cameras that try to cram hot sensors and processors into compact bodies (smartphones too). I'm really happy you found it helpful! @@thefitlifechannel2021 I use it with ZV-1 in analog mode and first attempts show that 10 dB and ECM-LV1 will be the best option for me. And as I said before, the possible noise can be very easily reduced. And loudness can be normalized, or am I wrong? But according to you is better stay calm when speaking?

Yes, the setting you're using is fine and there shouldn't be any clipping or any other issues. This is what I use as well when I use the ECM-LV1. The issue is when you use just the transmitter in case you need the wind screen for outdoor use. It needs to be set at 20db and avoid speaking in a really loud voice

You're very welcome! I watched a video that explained that Japanese companies don't invest heavily in software development compared to countries such as the US and others. Hardware is prioritized. They are also slower to adapt and resistant to what customers want. Japanese developers tend to be seen as lower in social status and are paid poorly making it less attractive as a career field. I'm wondering if these are some of the reasons. Sony has struggled with processing photos and vids from their smartphones despite having some of the best camera sensors and lenses. But it could also be limitations of the Qualcomm SOC and Android OS. Sony did do something different with the new Xperia 1 VI's camera software and processing to appeal more to a mainstream audience. I haven't been able to get my hands on one so I don't know if it's a significant improvement.

You're very welcome! I know its mostly a forgotten camera phone with Samsung, Xioami, Oppo and Huawei getting most of the attention with their camera first smartphones. But Sony is the only company that can come close to replicating how a traditional digital camera operates and feels like. I know many complained about the 21:9 aspect display ratio but it's a lot easier to handle for unique angles for pics and videos unlike wider displays. While physical shutter buttons are starting to pop up on other smartphones, Sony has been rocking them for many years on theirs, and they actually work and feel similar to a digital camera. Nothing gimmicky about them! And pics from the Xperia PRO-I have a similar look to what I capture from my ZV1 and ZVE-10 digital cameras using Sony Zeiss lenses. If you can find one for a great price, I say go for it!

@@gtlover2011 It depends on the climate and temps you will be using it in. If it's mostly sunny, humid and 30C/86F+ degrees when you're using it, you may have some overheating issues when recording videos and taking pics. I've never had it overheat when temps were 29C/84F degrees and below or during normal use. However, if you really want it and can get a good deal, you can minimize overheating by avoiding direct sunlight, not using a case, setting it to airplane mode and attaching a cooling fan to the back. Of course, you do this when doing extended video and photo shoots, not all the time.

Thank you for bringing that up and I sincerely apologize for not making any for awhile. I've been contemplating if I should start doing them again. But my focus now is on obstacle course racing and trail/road runs. You Tube is saturated with that content and I don't know if spending the spare time I have on them would be better than what I've been focusing on now. However I may start out with Shorts to test out reaction and if I should expand to longer form videos.

You can order a universal smartphone mount for handheld/standing tripods from companies such as Small Rig, Manfroto, Ulanzi, Andoer, K&F Concept or any other ones that specialize in camera tripods and/or smartphone accessories. @@refiktutar You're very welcome! I only have experience with DJI gimbals and have found them to offer a lot for their price range. They're easy to setup and use as well. You can look at the DJI Ronin SC or RS series for your ZV1. I don't recommend going with a cheap gimbal because you may have issues balancing your camera and keeping it that way. It's better to find a used quality one or save money for it. You can also use Sony's Catalyst Browse, a free editing and post stabilizing program for PC. It works with your ZV1. You would record your footage without stabilization turned on the ZV1. Then upload your video file to Catalyst Browse and do auto or manual stabilization. It will smoothen your shaky footage close to or same as a gimbal. However, there is a crop. But you can compensate by recording further away from your scene or subject ( you can do test recording and Catalyst Browse stabilizing to figure out how far). I know it's an extra step in editing but you'll be surprised at how smooth it ends up especially when you use the Sony Wireless Commander Shooting Grip . You can use this method until you saved enough money to get a quality gimbal. I hope this answered your question! Let me know if I can help you with anything else!

Nope you're not too old and I agree with you on the picture quality coming from the G11. It has a nice soft film like look to it which actually has been trending in the past few years. So please don't feel like we're the few that enjoy those qualities. Just like the fashion world, photography has its trends, it's the classics that weather them all and are still around. The issue I've seen with mainstream photography is the push for sharp and highly detailed images at the expense of losing the unique qualities of a camera body and or lens. Especially in the smartphone camera space where many sources focus more on the technical quality of what a camera does instead of the artistic side. I have done it myself in some of my videos. But it's starting to change with Zeiss and Leica's partnership with smartphone companies to focus more on the artistic quality of an image and less about technical perfection. Speaking of you mentioning that the Xperia PRO-I is too perfect and hard, in the smartphone camera world they get the most complaints for appearing too soft and lacking vivid saturation! Personally, they come closest to mimicking the older digital camera and video look. It's one of the main reasons I've used Sony smartphones for many years. I'm using a Xiaomi 13 Ultra which produces sharper and more vibrant images, but they look like the majority of other smartphone cameras. I keep getting pulled back to the Xperia PRO-I even though I need to move on! I'm really going to miss it!

@@thefitlifechannel2021 Thank you for taking the time to answer me. I totally agree with you. Didn't know that even the good image quality of the Xperia PRO-I is too soft for many. I use the S23u and sometimes find it amazing and frightening at the same time how good the S23u's image processing is, specifically in difficult light situation. But this can become boring and too much over time. I think it's good and it makes a picture really interesting to see something special and perhaps emotional in the image quality, instead of the perfection you see with most other smartphone cameras, as you say. An image can also be grainy or a little pale, or maybe even overexposed and still be beautiful. It is clear that for a customer's portrait photo assignment, only the 85 mm fixed focal length and the FF camera with superior image quality can be considered, but for your own photo album the image quality is subjective. "A picture is beautiful when you like it yourself."

@@kennung1001 It's my pleasure to help you with any questions you may have! And that's one of the great things about the Sony Xperia PRO-I and similar Xperia series smartphones. There is minimal processing compared to other companies. But it's best for those who want to have more influence on how the final pic comes out and is willing to spend more time to make it happen. If you have a passion for DSLR or mirrorless cameras, it's one of the few smartphones I've used that comes close to replicating their feel and operation. What's so great about photography is that are a million ways to create a photo and there's no hard rules on how to do it. The most important thing is that you enjoy doing it and find it as a positive way to relax and have fun!

That's not normal for your earbuds to last only 15 mins or less. Did you buy a used pair? Even when mine was new I was able to get up to 6-8 hours from them before charging. Perhaps you have a defective pair? If theyre new, I would definitely contact Sony to see what's going on. But if used, you probably have a similar issue as myself and many others in regards to their batteries.

Yup! Felt like it was time to try something different after sticking with Samsung and Sony for many years. There's a lot I'm gonna miss about it especially when it comes to photography. But the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is impressive and I'm amazed at how fast they have caught up and even surpassed Samsung and Sony in many areas of smartphone features.

Yes, I did mention in the beginning of this video I don't normally do these types of videos. I only focus on the camera abilities of smartphones. This video comparison is new for myself and I lack any experience in. I just found something interesting with how my almost three year old Sony Xperia PRO-I felt & performed in daily use compared to my newer Xiaomi 13 Ultra and wanted to share my experience. This is also a subjective comparison and represents more of how most people would use their smartphones and judge them, not by how they compare and perform in benchmarks and similar tests. When someone purchases a new smartphone, they most likely will do something similar to this video to test out how it performs. It's rare that they will pull up benchmarks, or even the sales associate as the main reason if they will buy it. I hope you did watch the entire video before you came to your conclusion about this video not being a comparison. I did provide actual video of both camera phones performing over ten different tasks at the same time. Also any suggestions on how I should improve my comparison would be of immense help to myself and others and greatly appreciated!

Yup, the vlog monitor is good to have especially if you do a lot of vlogging. But it can add additional weight and bulk which some may not like. Also it defeats one of the reasons the Xperia PRO-I is slim, its easier to carry and pull out of a bag or pocket. And for a quick vlog if something pops up suddenly to talk about, its faster and easier to use the front camera. The front camera isn't that bad in good lightning, I think most of us were expecting more from Sony when they sold it for $1800US in the beginning. Sony probably didn't think most users of the Xperia PRO-I would use the front camera often and didn't prioritize its quality and capabilities. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is similar, great rear cameras but a front camera that lags behind others even when it was released in 2023.

@@kip_ivo Wow! Thats a lot! But why? I'm working on a comparison between the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xperia PRO-I on all of their cameras. What I noticed is that despite the 32mp front camera on the 13 Ultra being higher than the PRO-I's 8mp, its binned down to around 8mp. It does have more detail, but in many scenes lacks the color saturation, vividness and contrast of the PRO-I's 8mp. The native pixel size is also important for a balanced picture, the PRO-I's native 8mp sensor has bigger ones compared to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra (1.12 vs .07-micron pixels) which gives it a better color profile, even in low light. I've noticed this with their rear cameras too. Even if the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is binning down its 32 or 50mp cameras while upscaling the pixel sizes, sometimes to bigger ones than the PRO-I, it still has issues with color saturation and detail in less-than-optimal lighting. I always look at the native pixel sizes first before resolution for cameras, especially since I take pics and record vids in less-than-optimal lighting conditions.

Yup, the zoom rocker and shutter button are spongy! Even the shutter button on my Sony Xperia PRO-I feel similar. They have a different feel than what is typically found on Sony's camera bodies. It will take some time to adjust to them. I usually use the zoom rocker and shutter button on the camera body with using this grip. But when vlogging I use the rocker and shutter button on the grip.

You can zoom through various focal lengths from 24-72mm in the Videography PRO app. Sony designed it mimic the ones found in it's camcorders. It's not like a traditional smartphone camera app where you can switch between the native focal lengths. However in Photography PRO using "BASIC" mode, you can record video and change between the native 16, 24, and 50mm focal lengths (displayed as .7, 1.0 & 2.1x). Yes from my personal experience from the past two years of owning it, it will overheat in 30C+ temps and in sunlight when recording videos and taking photos to the point of limiting features or shutting down the Photo/Video PRO app. Others have pointed this out as well in similar situations. However below 29C or staying out of direct sunlight, no issues of overheating for myself. I've never had it overheat in other usages such as gaming, watching vids, etc.

@@Gaming60fps It could be because of the humidity too in some hot climates. How are the humidity levels there? All of my Sony cameras such as my ZV1 and ZVE-10 will get hot or overheat after recording video for a while in hot temps or in sunlight as well. Even with past Sony Xperia 1 series smartphones this has been an issue. Sony likes to cram heat producing components into tight and/or thin bodies. I have a feeling that's why wireless charging wasn't included with the Xperia PRO-I. The 1.0 type sensor and Snapdragon 888 were already putting immense heat stress onto the rest of the smartphone. Adding wireless charging would have strained the other components more resulting in a shorter lifespan. Sony also minimizes heat damage by shutting down the Photo or Video Pro app rapidly if idle. My Xiaomi 13 Ultra does something similar but not as fast as the PRO-I. I'm speculating it may have something to do with the 1.0 type sensors they use and how hot they can get quickly. Video PRO will shut down quickly in hot temps if recording after a short period, but it can be extended using the Wireless Commander Shooting Grip and a unique endurance mode. Perhaps its lowering frame rates and other features to push recording times longer. This is something the Xiaomi 13 Ultra does as well.

The Xperia IV isn't a significant upgrade compared to the PRO-I. If you're able to get the V or VI, those are more of a worthy upgrade. What are some of the main features you're looking for?

Their newer designs appear more comfortable and rugged for walking around too. CARIUMA but will definitely check them out. Thank you for sharing that here. When I was younger my brothers used to wear Vans for skating and myself for daily wear. They were so cheap and easy to replace once they wore out. Are they still popular among the skating crowd or have they have moved on to others?

@@thefitlifechannel2021 From what I see online, Cariuma is hitting hard among skaters, not only because it is comfortable but also because it is strongly constructed and sustainable, even with vegan models. I never used Vans because I think it is for a younger audience than me, and as for Converse, I really like the Malden Street Mid because they are wider and fit more comfortable and they also have an Ortholite insole like the Chuck 70. Take a look at Cariuma Vallely Pro or Cariuma Catiba Pro and you will surely like them. I never skated but I have sensitive feet and I am always researching to buy comfortable shoes. Greetings

I recommend using the Xperia PRO-I as a compact camera along with other Sony cameras if you own them. It's menu system is similar as well as pics and vids. It's waterproof and great for taking pics and quick videos where carrying a mirrorless camera and lens might be a burden. And if you're into editing photos and videos, it's display is very accurate compared to other brands. I use it to check photos and 4k videos I make for UA-cam. Also, you're right about the updates, my Samsung Note 20 Ultra still receives monthly security updates unlike the Xperia PRO-I. But it's still supported in Google Play for apps so as long as you're not downloading suspicious files or visiting questionable sites, there shouldn't be any issues. I'm working on a comparison between the Xperia PRO-I and Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The 888 can still hold its own against the newer chipsets. The Xperia PRO-I feels more responsive and loads up faster at startup and for apps. A large part of this could be the smaller OS size and Sony's long term experience compared to Xioami. I didn't find any significant difference between the two in other areas. I was expecting to be blown away by all the marketing hype and reviews for the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. How each company builds a camera first smartphone is completely different too which the Xperia PRO-I and 13 Ultra are mainly marketed as. I can say Sony comes closest to mimicking a digital camera. Sony made this camera phone for Sony enthusiasts who use their digital camera models and that's probably the main reason I would buy it. Xiaomi takes alot of cues from the iPhone for its camera system and feels more like a smartphone camera setup.

Yup! Quality did take a huge dive sometime during the early 2020s. I checked out their recent models this past weekend. It seems like they're trying to fix some of the common issues in their newer models that have bothered them for a while, midsole/outsole separation and more flexible outsoles. I think mine survived for a long time because I rarely walked in them and just used them for weight training. Mine were extremely uncomfortable to walk in especially on hard surfaces.

Thank you for sharing this! Merrell was known for being a reliable hiking boot and shoe source when I was in the military some time ago. It's the main reason I stuck with them after I left. But like you mentioned, quality has certainly taken a dive in the name of saving money. I've been trying out some Puma and Salomon trail running shoes this year. They're extremely durable but the issue is their tight toe boxes for wide feet like mine. Merrells are still more spacious and comfortable compared to them. I can wear a pair all day unlike the Pumas and Salomons. Have you thought about trying out other brands?

@@thefitlifechannel2021 before merrell i used hi tech which would last 6 months and cost a third less than merrell at least... Same thing happed to them they went cheap.... I dont think changing brand is the answer.. Its just that everything is getting more expensive and crap in quality..... Money money money... Selling quality shoes that last is bad for sales... Near enough is good enough...... Solomon are good same quality as merrell tbh... I never bother with merrell unless its got vibram bottom the cheap shoes have never pleased me... Im stood up all day for 8 to 10 hours so comfort and support are paramount.... The new merrell are smaller and tighter on the toes... I need to get size 10 now vs 9.5 i have been in... Im a 9 in every other shoe ive ever brought and not had any tight pairs....

@@roberthopkins8089 It seems like smartphones companies from a few years ago. Perhaps the shoe companies want people to change out their shoes more frequently. Might explain their aggressive marketing on using more recycled materials in their shoes so we don't feel so bad replacing them quicker. I also don't buy or recommend Merrell shoes unless they have a Vibram outsole. I was just surprised at how fast the Vibram outsoles on my Nova 3's wore out.

@@roberthopkins8089 Yes, the Nova 3's were the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn but paid for it with an extremely short performance life. I use them as gym shoes now because of no discomfort from prolonged workouts. Wearing Pumas or Converse feels like walking around with something bolted onto my feet, not being part of the shoes!

I checked Sony's website on how to use bulb mode in manual exposure for a Sony camera and they recommended using a tripod and a remote commander to minimize blurring. I'm assuming this shooting grip should work for that function since it's a remote commander in tripod form. Its shutter button is supposed to mimic the same actions done from the one on the camera body. I've only done long exposures with it and not bulb mode. I can try it out and see if it works but my camera in only a ZVE-10. Let me know!

@@thefitlifechannel2021 I think I need to rephase my query 😊 I'm thinking of using the Sony GP-VPT2BT as a handheld mini tripod or a wireless remote, instead of buying a separate remote commander. Will it work with the ZVE-10 bulb mode? I will mount the camera on a big tripod. I'd love to be able to start and stop the shutter opening using the Sony GP-VPT2BT instead of pressing the shutter on the camera. Thanks for your help!

@@chrisbale11 Yes it should work as a wireless shutter button instead of using the one on the camera body. The GP-VPT2BT is a remote commander molded into a tripod/shooting grip so it should work as a wireless shutter button with bulb mode from supported camera bodies according to Sony. I can test it later with the ZVE-10's bulb mode and get back to you to see if it worked.

Are you talking about the Note 20 Ultra? If so, this is my biggest complaint with Samsung's processing. Photo's look hyper realistic. Similar to what Apple does for their iPhones. I'm not sure if Samsung has corrected it after the Note 20 Ultra with the newer S series Ultra phones. I switched to Sony afterwards.

That's really good to hear! Mine is still really snappy and fast compared to a Xiaomi 13 Ultra I'm reviewing now with 16GBs of RAM! And it's still one of the best looking smartphones even in late 2024.

Hello! I've never had any major issues with the Snapdragon 888 for me to mention it any of my videos on the Xperia PRO-I. The biggest complaint I've had with this phone has been the overheating of the cameras in 30C+ temps and only being able to use them for short periods. I'm not 100% sure if that's due to the 888, the 1.0 type sensor (my ZV1 also overheats and uses the same sensor), the ISP Sony is using to process pics and vids, the thin frame, or inadequate cooling system for this setup. However, I mainly use the Xperia PRO-I for photo/videography, watching vids on UA-cam or Netflix, messaging and browsing the internet. I rarely used it for gaming or anything else that could stress the CPU intensively to cause it to overheat or reduce performance. I have the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and it feels a lot slower loading from startup, opening apps, processing photos from editing, (subjectively) despite having the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and 16GBs of RAM compared to the Xperia PRO-I's Snapdragon 888 and 12GBs. The Xperia PRO-I feels snappier and quicker to operate despite its age. I have a feeling it's because Xiaomi's OS for the 13 Ultra is not optimized as well as Sony's for the PRO-I. I will make a future video comparing them both. I did make another video on reasons why the Xperia PRO-I may not be a good idea to keep or buy in 2024. Good day! The leathers do look better and are more durable, however it depends on where you live. If you live in a hot and humid climate, it's not a good idea to go with leather. They will break down and fade faster compared to the canvas version. I recommend stitching the midsoles as well since they have a tendency to fall apart from the uppers regardless of which ones you go with. I hope this helped answer your question. Have a great day!

They do come out similar with Sony having the more accurate colors. But the Xiaomi is sharper in most situations while the Sony's 50mm focal length tends to have a yellowish tone to them which needs to be adjusted.

I would love to compare the Canon G11 to many different smartphones but the issue is that it's difficult for me to get something like the Samsung S24 Ultra. I'm using my own or borrowing from others. Most people I know prefer an iPhone. However I did pick up a Xiaomi 13 Ultra and will do a comparison with the Canon G11 in the future!

I sweat profusely during workouts and it can appear that I did take a shower or went swimming! Hehe! The Sony authorized repair shop I took them to wouldn't repair them but I've heard others have had no issues with others. Sony's repair service isn't consistent and can be a gamble when trying to repair something even if covered by warranty depending on the service region.

There are always some lemons but generally even if covered in sweat the buds should be fine as its with no pressure so it can't enter the internals and the IPx4 rating suggests that it can even withstand more like splashes from any direction

@@antysiq It could have been, but I sweat profusely during my workouts and live in a high humidity environment. I think the heat and sweat wore out the waterproof sealing over time, especially when exercising sometimes twice daily. I've had issues with other Sony products such as smartphones and it tends to be exposure to repeated bouts of high heat that causes damage to them.
